We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

I've really felt connected to video lately. I don't know why. It's probably because it's so fun. Over the past few months I have been shooting these vignettes of the various places I've been travelling to. A friend of mine suggested Why don't you film your own city? That was such a great idea. I grew up just outside the city and spent my University years there. I really love Toronto and my friends. So why not combine the two. So here is what we could fit into one day in Toronto. I hope you enjoy :)

SHANGRI-LA HOTEL: Best Luxury Hotel in Downtown Toronto

MAKE A RESERVATION:

SHANGRI-LA HOTEL: Downtown Toronto Hotels near ACC and Union Station

The Shangri-La Hotel, one of the best hotels in Toronto, is the first property of the leading luxury chain to bring distinctive Asian hospitality to Canada’s largest metropolis. The downtown Toronto luxury hotel, located near Air Canada Centre (ACC) and Union Station, delivers the best of Asian traditions in an original, contemporary way.

Best Luxury Hotel in Downtown Toronto

Shangri-La Hotel, one of the top hotels in Toronto, has received two accolades by the prestigious American magazine, Condé Nast Traveler’s “Hot List: Best New Hotels 2013” as well as being listed as having one of the “World’s most beautiful pools”.

Top Hotel in Toronto

Inspired by the mythical land in the novel Lost Horizon, the name Shangri-La conveys the serenity for which its properties are famed worldwide. Since 1971, Shangri-La has encompassed the unique characteristics of Asian hospitality: respect, humility, courtesy, helpfulness and sincerity.

Guests entering the hotel are greeted with Asian touches. A giant sculpture from one of China's best-known contemporary artists, Zhang Huan, sets the stage memorably, as do the lobby’s huge calligraphy paintings. The 202 luxury guest rooms are among the largest in Canada and feature Asian-inspired decorations including raw-silk wall coverings and replicas of antique Chinese chairs.

The Eastern theme extends to the hotel’s dining and leisure options. Guests can experience Bosk, the hotel’s signature restaurant with Asian-inspired touches; Momofuku restaurant and bar by famed New York chef David Chang; and the Lobby Lounge, which offers dim sum. The Miraj Hammam Spa brings the exotic traditions of the Middle East to Toronto with its authentic treatments.

Toronto with World's Best Tour Guide Bruce Bell

We'd never been to Toronto before and we needed some help, so we got the best. There's no one in the world more qualified to show us Toronto than native son Bruce Bell, professional tour guide and historian. Bruce knows more about the city, its history, and its people than anyone else.

We toured the famous St Lawrence Market where we ate peameal bacon sandwiches at Carousel Bakery and sampled some of the dozens of mustards at Kozlik's. We hopped over to the Gooderham & Worts Distillery to take in its Willy Wonka-esque charms and saw all of the City Center sights from the roof of Bruce's own apartment building.

Along the way, we talked hockey, history, and the secret to Canadians' overwhelming friendliness.
