Macau is best known as a gambling and shopping mecca, but it also has a really neat historic portuguese center
Macau is the only place in China where you can gamble legally. It generates more revenue from gambling than anywhere else on the earth including more than about seven times the revenue generated by “The Strip” in La Vegas

5 Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in Macau

5 Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in Macau

Macau (also sometimes known as Macao, or Àomén in Chinese) is just 60 kilometers west of Hong Kong and was, until 1999, under Portuguese administration. Now a Special Administered Region of China and a popular tourist destination, the city takes its name from the Chinese A Ma Gao, meaning the Bay of A Ma, the Chinese water goddess and patroness of seafarers and fishermen. Blessed with a subtropical climate and a constantly blowing cool sea breeze, this small territory shows its Portuguese influences everywhere - hardly surprising since the area was first settled by traders from Portugal as far back as the 1550s. The city's rich past is seen everywhere, in its fine architecture and well-preserved colonial buildings, and is so important that the Historic Center of Macau has been included in the list of China's most significant World Heritage Sites

1. The Ruins of St. Paul's
2. The Senate and Senado Square
3. A-Ma Temple
4. Fortaleza do Monte: Home of the Macau Museum

MACAU - TOP THINGS TO SEE -Travel Vlog

Welcome to Macau! In this video, we take the turbo jet ferry from Hong Kong Island to Macau. We spend a full day in the former Portuguese colony, a land where East meets West.

Macau was a former Portuguese colony from the 16th century until 1999 when China took it over. It is now a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China where Macau controls their own customs and currency, and China handles the rest. There is also an extravagant Las Vegas atmosphere in Macau that makes for an exciting destination to travel.

First, we visit Largo Do Senado (Senado Square) which is the historic Portuguese center and UNESCO World Heritage Site. St. Dominic's Church is a main highlight of this square.

Next, we venture to Fernando's to visit a Portuguese - Chinese fusion restaurant by the beach. We also visit the beach in Macau. Be sure to bring cash! Watch what happens when we try to get back to town without any cash left.

Macau is known for its casinos, including the Venetian, and Paris, and the Wynn. Did you know that Macao is the largest gambling epicenter in the world? It even beat out Vegas. It's the only region in China where you can legally gamble.

Lastly, we visit the Ruins of St. Paul where we see what was the largest Catholic church in Asia.

Macau is truly one of a kind, with East meets West fusion. It is definitely worth a visit!

MACAU travel 2017

HONG & MACAU TRAVELOG (Places to visit) 4K

The Footage was taken when I was having holiday in Hong Kong and Macau back on February 2018.
My first impression of Hong Kong, the city is very crowded but really clean and organized. You can go wherever you want with a integrated transportation system.

I spend 3 days in Hong Kong and 1 Day in Macau. For you who likes metropolitan city, Hong Kong is sure a nice place to visit. In every part of the city you can find many shops.
But if you're not really into shopping, HK has also its own charm at the other side of the island. As I visit Big Buddha, it was a nice place to relax (even with a lot of tourist) and enjoy the nature.

To go to Macau, I took Ferry and spend just half day there. It was unbelievable full of people. Maybe it would be less people if you go not in peak season or holiday week.
Apart from that I really like Macau, the nice little street with a taste of old building, where are left from the Portuguese.

I spent also a lot of time to taste culinary specialties there. So make sure to do that. Dim Sum is a MUSS..!!

Tips: To go to the peak, use Octopus Card to cut the Queue and arrive there early in the morning, cause in the afternoon, the line is very long.
List of Places:
- Hong Kong Disneyland
- Promenade (see Symphony of Light show..!!)
- The Peak
- Big Buddha
- Macau Ruins of St. Paul
