The expressway is one of the biggest among 30 road projects to be developed as part of Qatar’s seven-year expressway programme initiated in 2010 to connect people and places across the city of Doha and Qatar through 900km of new roads, involving a number of underpasses, flyovers and multi-level interchanges.
The Lusail Expressway is being developed by Ashghal, the Public Works Authority of Qatar, and will form an important part of the Doha Expressway network.

The existing Al Istiqlal Road stretching from south of the Al Wahda (Arch) roundabout to the north of the North Channel Crossing and Onaiza Street was upgraded as part of the Lusail Expressway project.

The Mobius strip-style pedestrian bridge arcs over Meixi Lake. With a span of 490 feet (150 meters) and a height of 79 feet (24 meters), this bridge incorporates a variety of routes at different levels.
5. Helix Bridge: This pedestrian bridge links Marina Center with Marina South in the Marina Bay area in Singapore. It is located beside the Benjamin Sheares Bridge and is accompanied by a vehicular bridge named Bayfront Bridge.
4. Falkirk Wheel: It is located in Scotland. The wheel raises boats by 79 feet (24 meters). It is the only rotating boat lift of its kind in the world, and one of two boat lifts in the UK. The wheel has an overall diameter of 115 feet (35 meters).
3. Henderson Waves: This 899 feet (274 meter) long pedestrian bridge is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. It is 118 feet (36 meters) above Henderson Road. It connects Mount Faber Park and Telok Blangah Hill Park.

The fluid design is part of a 12 kilometer series of connections, comprising three bridges linked by tunnels below the sea’s surface. Sharq Crossing - (Formerly known as Doha Bay Crossing) - Final Design

The $5bn Sharq Crossing Programme, previously known as the Doha Bay Crossing programme, is moving ahead with the awarding of a $185mn contract by Ashghal to US-based Fluor Corporation for programme management and construction supervision services.
The contract was recently signed by both parties, heraldonline.com reported. Sharq Crossing is a marquee programme in Qatar's ambitious development plans ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The project will traverse Doha Bay and comprise bridge sections interconnected by an immersed tube tunnel to create a new passageway beneath the waters of Doha Bay. Completion of the system is required by 2020 to support the run-up to the World Cup event.

A Luxury Doha Staycation (Sharq Village)
After nearly six months in my apartment and without traveling since Christmas 2019, it was time for a vacation. Two friends and I went on a weeknight staycation at the Sharq Village and Spa by Ritz Carlton. It's a luxury hotel located south of the Doha city center on the way to the airport. There are two pools, an expansive beach, and several restaurants as part of the hotel. It was a long-overdue change of pace while we're stuck in Qatar.

Here's a concept by Dar Al Handasa
A beach front park set in the heart of Doha, the park concept was based on three promenades, Linear park and buffer, Leisure parade and Beach walk and were situated at different levels inter-connecting at various points with appropriate activities situated throughout. The design was inspired by sand drifts and its angular approach reflected this throughout the park from the design of private cabanas, pavilions, shade canopies and lifeguard huts.
The park catered for numerous visitors from western tourists, through to locals with associated family areas and a women’s only beach.
The landscape scheme also looked at how the park could generate potential revenue streams to help finance the project and ensure maintenance was continued throughout its use.

Project Qatar 2016
For its 13th edition, moved to a new venue at the heart of Doha in Westbay, the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC). Project Qatar 2016 hosted 663 exhibitors representing more than 1,050 companies and brands displaying their products to 37,683 visitors, within 17 national pavilions from 38 countries. For this edition, the show’s operating hours were also changed to 2 - 9 pm. The show recorded very high levels of satisfaction for both exhibitors and visitors.
