Medellín, officially the Municipality of Medellín, is the second-largest city in Colombia, after Bogotá, and the capital of the department of Antioquia. It is located in the Aburrá Valley, a central region of the Andes Mountains in South America. According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics, the city had an estimated population of 2,508,452 according to the 2018 census. With its surrounding area that includes nine other cities, the metropolitan area of Medellín is the second-largest urban agglomeration in Colombia in terms of population and economy, with more than 4 million people.

Time to visit Medellin, Colombia!!
Did you know that Medellín is safer than Philadelphia, USA?! Here is my tour guide for the best things to do in Medellín Colombia! I spent a week in Medellin and loved every minute of it. I did everything from a graffiti tour of Comuna 13 (Pablo Escobar territory), to taking the cable cars (Metrocable) - All the signs are in ENGLISH - Arvi park (Parque Arvi) and a day tour to El Retiro, Guatape, La Piedra del Piñol, taking public transportation (it's safer than NYC and definitely cleaner). I hope you enjoy this tour guide.

List of the best things to do in Medellin. What to do in Medellin Colombia? These are my top 7 things to do in Medellin Colombia.
One of the most popular places to travel in the world is the incredible country of Colombia. According to a number of travel publications in 2017, Colombia reigned as the best place on earth to backpack, or travel. The country is becoming safer, more advanced, and caters perfectly to tourism and travellers as the cost is very low due to competition between companies, but the quality of everything remains high.
Travel Colombia:
One of the most popular cities in Colombia, for locals, expats and travellers, is the spectacular city of Medellin. Medellin Colombia is genuinely one of my favourite cities not only in Colombia, but on earth. Nestled in the center of Antioquia, Medellin sprawls a deep valley with the main center of the city running along the small river at the bottom of the Medellin valley.
My Top 5 Places in Colombia:
After spending over 6 months in Medellin and knowing all the great things to do in Medellin Colombia, I compiled this list of the top 7 things to do in Medellin to aid people coming to Colombia with limited time in Medellin.
Full disclosure, this is my personal list that I narrowed down to 7 things to do in Medellin, so it may not be your preferred top things to do list.
Parque Lleras, Poblado, Medellin, Colombia:

Starting at the number 7 thing to do in Medellin is to visit the malls. Latin Americans and Colombians especially love their malls and the best ones in Medellin are Premium Plaza and El Tesoro, both near Poblado in Medellin.
Go Karting in Medellin Colombia:
Number 6 thing to do in Medellin is taking the cable car over the backside of Medellin to see Parque Arvi, an enormous beautiful natural park. The ride their on the cable car is worth the journey in itself.
Number 5, go to a football match in Medellin. There are 2 teams in Medellin, Independiente Medellin and Nacional de Medellin and they are both crazy about football and share the same stadium in downtown Medellin with tickets always at a very reasonable price.

Number 4 is getting outside the city and either visiting Guatape or Santa Fe de Antioquia. Two beautiful towns 1.5 to 2.5 hours outside of Medellin.

Guatape is about 2.5 hours from Medellin and is famous for its colourful buildings and the enormous Guatape rock, a famous tourist attraction.

Santa Fe de Antioquia is about 90 minutes from Medellin in the other direction and is completely different but equally beautiful, and very hot.

3rd best thing to do in Medellin is visit Comuna 13, the outdoor escalators and street art nestled through the old, dangerous area of the city.

The second best thing to do in Medellin Colombia is do a Pablo Escobar tour. I recommend doing the respectable informative ones. Here is a video of my tour of La Catedral, the self made prison for Pablo Escobar.
The best thing to do in Medellin is explore the whole city and no better way than the public transit. The cable cars and metro through Medellin is a fun and exciting way to see all the areas of Colombia's most visited city. Here in the following video I take the cable car over the top of Medellin for an incredible view.
