ℹ️ About the Episode:
We didn't see this coming ... really! We were toying around with the idea of changing our RV to something more suitable for just the two of us, but the timing had to be perfect! After all, we're leaving in late March and will be on the road for most of the year. Once we hit the road, our window for buying and selling an RV would be closed. It's hard to make big changes when we're traveling and dates or events are locked in place. To our surprise, the exact Airstream (and year) we wanted showed up in a new listing, and we immediately called. After discussing price and timing, we decided to change our route to go through Visalia, CA, so we could check it out. We got started with repairs on the first night. During our self-inspection, we knew there was an issue with the voltage. We also identified a few minor issues in other systems. Because we knew we'd likely be modifying these systems anyway, we were not too uptight about it. However, it would have been good to show the proper process of buying a used RV... and not our approach. We'd like to make a video about buying & selling RVs, so we'll try to include that how-to information then. Overall, we're thrilled with this new model, and we've already started making small modifications. For those who wondered why we stayed with an Airstream, it's just the most suitable RV for how we travel. It offers us enough space to stay comfortable for months on the road, but it's small enough that we can camp inside the national parks. Not to mention resale value, which is always at the top of our list when purchasing any depreciating asset.

The Scariest Part of RVing the Midwest - Riding out a Texas Storm
Come along as we hunker down in our RV through a Texas Storm that has us worried sick. We dropped the ball in preparing for bad weather through tornado alley. To our surprise, the locals even were concerned when we showed up to the RV park.
Unfortunately, there aren't many places to seek out shelter from a storm when living in an RV. We want to share this experience with you and some great resources that can help you be better prepared when RVing through the midwest.

Driving through the ocean with an RV is no joke. I don't mean literally through like one of those cars that converts into a boat and drives off into the oceany abyss. I mean through as in a cement tunnel that goes under the ocean as you drive through with 12,000 pounds ????
Here's what happened - the day before we arrived in Virginia for my dad's wedding, we learned that we had to drive through tunnels that ran under the ocean to get there.
To which my response was, brb, we're not coming ????
I (Courtney) am HORRIFIED of the ocean. Additionally, I was just getting the hang of pulling the RV and didn't really feel ready for underground tunnels at this particular junction in our journey ????
In this vid, you get to see quite the epic emotion vs. logic battle going down as I drive through the ocean for the first time.
Once we made it through the ocean in one piece, it was time to enjoy our first adventure with our family in Virginia.
