London Best Kept Secret! ???????? AREPAS at Maltby Street Market!!
Maltby Street Market is a less known London Street Food market, often overshadowed by the likes of Camden and Borough Market. However this little foodie paradise offers some unique street food stalls from all around the world, as well as wine bars, which have impressed me a lot. One of the most unique street food in London is found at La Pepia, a stall selling incredible Venezuelan Arepas. Duck arancini and Ethiopian curries are some of the other delicious treats you can find in this little, cozy market.

Borough Market has the best collection of food carts in London. Great selection of great food!
If you look closely, you can see injera at the bottom of the box before the food is filled. Injera is an Ethiopian bread unlike any other, made from teff flour and fermented. Delicious.
We got the split peas and red lentils for our veggies, and we’d recommend them!

Maltby Street Market opened in 2010. This unlikely south-east London backwater quickly became a popular weekend destination.
The Ropewalk bears this name as a reference to a nearby ropewalk owned by notable Bermondsey eccentric Robert Rich in the eighteenth century and marked thus on John Roques' map of 1746. The area was disrupted by the the construction of the London to Greenwich railway completed in 1836. The viaduct that carried the railway consisting of 40,000,000 bricks [not verified by us!] now provides a home for both Maltby Street Market and many other food and beverage traders in Bermondsey.
Maltby Street Market has been fully subscribed since its origination. Its very limited size and the picturesque character of the railway arches and decoration encourages and allows for careful curation and a churn of start ups and star traders.
Maltby Street Market Street Food via Tower Bridge + Druid Street
Today I visit Maltby Street Market. I start at London Bridge home to London's best speciality food market Borough Market. Then I head to Tower Bridge to admire the views. Then Druid Street Market and Maltby Street market in Rope Walk for some street food from The Gyoza guys, a haggis Scotch egg and a grilled cheese sandwich from the cheese truck. Maltby Street market is open on Saturdays and Sundays. The food market near london bridge is Borough Market and Maltby Street is not far away.

• LONDON, UK in 4K: A walk through Maltby Street Market, a hidden gem south of the river Thames.
Smaller scale and much quieter than Borough Market even on a Saturday with seating and a decent mix of vendors to satisfy all sorts of tastes.
Outside vendors along the ropewalk open Fridays 5.30pm to 9pm, Saturdays 10am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
Nearest tube: London Bridge (Jubilee and Northern lines) and Bermondsey (Jubilee line).
