The North Pole Expeditions Museum recounts early efforts to reach the pole by air. Longyearbyen is on Adventfjorden Bay, which can be crossed by boat to reach Hiorthfjellet Mountains trails. Nearby, the Gruve 3 coal mine depicts Svalbards mining history. The underground Svalbard Global Seed Vault preserves backups of the worlds seeds in the name of food security. Husky-dog sleds and snowmobiles set off from Longyearbyen for trips farther afield to places like Isfjord Radio, a former transmission station with views overlooking the Arctic Ocean. Svalbard is one of the most interesting places I have ever visited. It is incredibly stark and harsh, but so beautiful. Teeming with life ranging from polar bears to arctic foxes, there are so many things to see. It's a place that as soon as you leave, you long to go back. Situated in the most northern part of Norway. Longyearbyen is the north most town in the world.

Jan Mayen – a Norwegian island with an active volcano in the Arctic
Jan Mayen is a Norwegian volcanic island situated in the Arctic Ocean, partly covered by glaciers around the Beerenberg volcano. The Beerenberg is the world's northernmost active volcano over sea level. Norway built on Jan Mayen a meteorological observatory and a radio station, and in 1929 annexed the island. The main settlement on the island is Olonkinbyen, located a few kilometres away from the radio and the meteorological station.

Svalbard - 4K
When you are inn Svalbard you feel living in a dream, a real arctic adventure. In a landscape characterized by tundra, snowfall, glaciers, extreme light variations and an exciting wildlife everyday experiences that hardly exist in the world.
Longyearbyen, the largest town on the Norwegian islands of Svalbard.
At 78 degrees North, it lies just 800 miles or 1300 kilometres from the North Pole. And with over 2,500 permanent inhabitants it is the Northernmost real town on Earth.
There are only 50km of road, including the small streets between houses, so people get around the island mainly on snowmobile.
All those clips are from Svalbard (most of the clips are from Longyearbyen, Pyramiden ) and this was filmed in April. 2019.

Voyage to Beerenberg: Scaling The Volcanic Peak of Jan Mayen
Straum assembled an expedition unit and set off in search of the summit of Beerenberg. This is the story of how it went.
It is thanks to Beerenberg Volcano that the island exists at all. Dominating the northern part of Jan Mayen, the world’s northernmost active stratovolcano bursts straight up from the Arctic Ocean, culminating in its fearsome peak, 2,277m above the sea level. Inspired by this foreboding mountain, Straum’s founders assembled an expedition unit and set off in search of the summit.
The goal of the mission was clear: To study the rarely disturbed nature of the island, its geology, and the volatile weather systems that frequently batter its shores.

Einer der Höhepunkte der Abenteuer Arktis-Reise von MS Albatros 2019 - die Passagen vor Jan Mayen und Spitzbergen...
Gänsehaut - und das nicht nur der Temperaturen wegen...
Der Beerenberg auf Jan Mayen lag zuerst vollständig im Nebel und nur einige wenige Augenblicke wurde der Blick auf die Spitze frei - ein fantastisches Naturschauspiel - wie auch die Gletscher und die Passage im Billefjord.

Als Künstler fahre ich seit 2006 mehrfach im Jahr mit Kreuzfahrtschiffen um die Welt!
Seit einiger Zeit habe ich meine Kameras mit im Gepäck um so die Bilder, Eindrücke und Erlebnisse die ich in meiner Freizeit mache filmisch festzuhalten.

Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, the mainland territory of which comprises the western and northernmost portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula. It is bordered by Finland and Russia to the northeast and the Skagerrak strait to the south, on the other side of which are Denmark and the United Kingdom. Norway has an extensive coastline, facing the North Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea. The maritime influence dominates Norway's climate, with mild lowland temperatures on the sea coasts; the interior, while colder, is also significantly milder than areas elsewhere in the world on such northerly latitudes. Even during polar night in the north, temperatures above freezing are commonplace on the coastline. The maritime influence brings high rainfall and snowfall to some areas of the country.
