Egypt: The WORST Country I Ever Visited – My WARNING to Future Travelers

When I visited Egypt, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was very excited to witness ancient Egypt, I've always been fascinated by the pyramids and their construction. From exploring the top ten sites, from the pyramids of Giza, the Giant Sphinx, Temple of Luxor, Temple of Karnak, avenue of Sphinxes, to the valley of kings and queens we explored it all in this travel vlog. From dangerous cities to sketchy neighborhoods, I experienced it all. In this video, I share my journey and the lessons I learned along the way. I was sad to see travelers exploited from the second they arrived in the airport. Constant solicitation and scammers take away from once a magical place. I don't even know how to begin to describe the animal cruelty I witnessed. From Cairo to Luxor there wasn't much of a difference, but I can definitely recommend Luxor over Cairo. This is my warning to all future travelers: tread lightly, and be prepared for anything!

Is Egypt Safe for Travel? | What to expect when you go

Everyone wants to know Is Egypt Safe? It was the most asked question when I made my trip announcement and so I wanted to report back and show you what I saw and learned about Egypt travel safety, what really annoyed me, and also what the local perspective is. Open this up to learn more ↓

In this video I breakdown why people automatically assume Egypt isn't safe and open up about my actual experiences from doing two separate trips to the country whether it be the Pyramids of Giza, the local streets of Cairo, driving in the city, tipping culture, camels, and what souvenir shopping is like. At the end of the day, I answer, is Egypt safe to travel and overall Egypt safety.

Heyo! Mitch and Day here ????????

We’re just your typical American-Colombian couple determined to live every second of our precious time here on earth to the fullest. After a 10-month solo backpacking trip through South America, I (Mitch) stopped in Cali, Colombia to take salsa dancing classes ????????. I only planned to stay for a couple weeks, but God had other plans for me. I met a cute Colombian girl (Day) in class, those couple weeks turned into a couple years, and before we knew it...we were married ????????????????

Now we’re traveling the world full time as digital nomads, supporting ourselves by working online ????‍????????‍????

Our goal with these videos is to inspire you to step outside your comfort zone, give you an inside peek at our crazy imperfect lives, and show you that you don’t have to be rich to live an extraordinary life...all you need to do is make the choice!

EGYPT TRAVEL GUIDE (No BS) | Scammers, Safety & Costs

????WATCH: My First Day in Egypt ►

???? PLEASE SUBSCRIBE, for more travel vlogs ►

My trip to Egypt was nothing short of incredibly challenging and extremely fulfilling. From the historic Pyramids of Giza and Luxor Temple, to the amazing Egyptian food and wildly entertaining people, this was truly a trip of a lifetime.

Here is my Ultimate Egypt Travel Guide in Q&A Form:

IS EGYPT SAFE?

Yes. If we compare Egypt to let's say Brazil, I think it is very safe. In many places around Latin America you have to be worried about being robbed at gunpoint, car jacked, pickpocketed and much more.

In Egypt, you just have to look out for scammers, hecklers, gawkers, and people trying to sell you things or get undeserved tips from you. That is my very short answer.

*See my episode Is Egypt Safe for Women for more information.

IS EGYPT EXPENSIVE?

No. As I explain in the video; you can find good quality hotels in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and across Egypt for a good price. Tours are affordable, and transportation can also be done on a budget. Entrance fees and tips can add up, so just be aware of that.

You just need to be aware of people trying to charge you more money on small things.

Food costs will be between $3-10 USD per meal, and Uber is the best and cheapest way to get around.

IS IT DIFFICULT TO FILM? HOW WERE THE POLICE?

We did not have trouble filming at all. We were usually either with local friends or a tour guide, and they opened many doors for us. We filmed as low-key as possible, and we removed our microphones for the majority of our trip. We also did not bring drones.

As for Egyptian Police, we truly did not have any issues. Whenever necessary, I explained that I was an American photographer or YouTuber and they were honestly just excited.

Tyler and I also traveled with very limited gear as to not intimidate anyone, and we filmed with our iPhones wherever necessary.

IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, PLEASE COMMENT THEM BELOW AND I WILL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER THEM!!

I hope you enjoyed this Egypt Travel Guide as much as we did making it! ❤️ If so, please hit that ???? button, and leave a comment!

IS EGYPT SAFE FOR WOMEN?

I just wanted to wrap up this Travel Deeper Egypt Series with a very simple, quick video based on the most frequently asked question while I was traveling here… Is it safe for women to travel Egypt on their own?

I wanted to make this a separate video so it wouldn’t get lost in the full Egypt Travel Guide. So, if you haven’t seen that one make sure you watch that next:

As a 6’2”, 200lb American man, it’s difficult for me to give you a realistic response on women’s safety in Egypt, so while traveling around the country we stopped and asked women their first-hand experience...

TALK TO THE WOMEN DIRECTLY:
Averi -
Mashon -
Lora -
Cherisse -
Alex -

A lot of people commented in the full Egypt Travel Guide video that “why deal with the hassle of going to Egypt with all these problems” and too that I say, if don’t correctly, the juice is 100% worth the squeeze. It is one of the most historically significant places on the planet.

It is definitely a place for more advanced travelers that want to embrace the adventure, and if you’re not a well-seasoned traveler; my best advice is to just find a really good guide.

Truthfully, the place you will have the most issues on your entire trip is the Pyramids of Giza. 13 teens just got arrested for harassing girls, and they were just as aggressive with us. They just surround you and want selfies - but there is no real danger in this.

I compare Egypt to Brazil - in brazil you need to watch your belongings and you could be robbed at any moment, where as in Egypt, you will just be heckled and people will try to talk you out of your money vs forcefully.

If you are a woman who has been to Egypt, it would be amazing if you share your experience in the comments below for others to follow.

And with that being said, that’s an official wrap on this first Egypt series - Next up a few videos from my adopted hometown of San Diego and then its off to Croatia!

I hope you enjoyed this Egypt Travel Guide about Is Egypt Safe for Women as much as we did making it! ❤️ If so, please hit that ???? button, and leave a comment!

Israel and Palestine War : Is It safe to travel to Egypt ?

Dear Travelers,

We understand that recent events in the Middle East, particularly the conflict between Gaza and Israel, may have raised concerns about traveling to Egypt. We want to assure you that Egypt, specifically the cities of Cairo, Aswan, and Luxor, remains a safe and welcoming destination for tourists. We would like to provide you with some information to give you a clear idea of the situation and alleviate any worries you may have.

Distance from Conflict Areas: Cairo, Aswan, and Luxor are located far away from the conflict zones. The fighting primarily takes place in the Gaza Strip, which is situated in the eastern part of the Mediterranean coast, while the cities you plan to visit are located in the southern part of Egypt. The distance between these areas ensures a significant separation from the conflict, and daily life in Cairo, Aswan, and Luxor continues as normal.

Stable Situation in Tourist Destinations: The Egyptian government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of tourists. The cities you will be visiting are popular tourist destinations, and their stability and safety have been maintained consistently over the years. The local authorities and security forces take necessary measures to ensure the well-being of visitors.

Robust Tourism Infrastructure: Egypt has a well-established tourism infrastructure that focuses on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for travelers. The tourism industry in Cairo, Aswan, and Luxor is well-regulated and continuously monitored to meet international standards of safety and security.

Professional Tour Operators and Guides: Our organization works with experienced and knowledgeable tour operators and guides who are well-versed in local conditions and safety protocols. They will be available to provide assistance, answer any questions, and address any concerns you may have throughout your trip.

Regular Updates and Travel Advisory Monitoring: We closely monitor travel advisories issued by relevant authorities, including international governmental agencies and embassies. We stay informed about any potential risks or changes in the situation and adapt our operations accordingly to ensure the safety of our guests.

We hope this information helps to clarify that the conflict in the Gaza Strip does not affect the daily life or tourism activities in Cairo, Aswan, and Luxor. Egypt remains a vibrant and culturally rich destination, offering a wealth of historical and archaeological treasures for you to explore.

Is Egypt Still Safe for Tourists?

When you see 24/7 commercial news b-roll of mass demonstrations and protests and riots in the Middle East on television screens in North America, Europe, etc., you need to be able to compare that to what's actually happening on the ground in these places at that time in reality. In this latest episode of the Egypt Travel Video Podcast, we show you the raw reality on the ground in Egypt during a week when commercial 24-hour news channels back home are painting a picture for their audiences that the whole region is in flames and on the brink of armageddon. Spoiler alert - it's not. See the shocking true reality on the ground in this episode, and let me know in the comments if this is what you thought was going on here then too.
