#Comores #TravelDocumentary

After long walk all over the vanilla and ylang ylang plantation we came to the small village Paje to learn about simple everyday life in the Comoros islands. We helped Maketses brother to replace a roof with some palm leaves. Tali tried traditional sandalwood beauty mask, which helps to protect the skin from the sun in East Africa. We visited a very famous tailor to dress up with a traditional marriage dress.

Les Comores (Anjouan, Mohéli, Grande Comore)

14 jours en passant sur les 3 îles.

GRANDE COMORE. COMOROS

Comoros islands. Grande Comore. March 30, 2019. Southern part of the island Grande Comore.

Thank you Comoros and wish you the best of luck and hope not another coup. I wish you can get Mayotte back from France but most likely not. Now it is up to Mayotte if they really want to join your Union but with political instability in your country and over 20 coups since independence in 1975, I am doubt Mayotte wants to be part of the Union. But best of luck. And please, separate religion from the government. It does not do you well at all. Instead of progressing you are going backwards.

LAST DAY IN THE COMOROS - VLOG #23

Our last day in The Comoros in southern Africa, we just took the drone for a flight but had to land quickly as it got overheated. Then we collected some volcanic rocks and I got food poisoning on the way home. Not the best way to finish but man, it was a good trip!

Thanks to IKEA Foundation and UNICEF for taking care of us and doing a great job for those in need!

A Tourists Guide to Moroni, Comoros!

I fly into Moroni, the capital of the Comoros. Unlike the Seychelles, Maldives and Mauritius, this Indian Ocean nation sees very little tourism and is one of the poorest countries on Earth.

I stay in the lush surroundings of the Istandra Beach Hotel, but take a tour of the Island's sights, including the old capital, Iconi, a wander through the markets of Moroni, and stop by a beach to watch some fishermen out in the surf. A most memorable trip.

Top Unusual wedding customs around the world

Unusual wedding customs around the world

SAYING GOODBYE, WITH TEARS!
The custom of the bride-to-be crying for days leading up to her wedding has been followed in many parts of China for centuries. Though not as popular today, it is still practiced by the Tujia ethnic community. The bride starts crying every day to express her sorrow of leaving her family behind. She is often joined by her mother, grandmother, and other close female relatives.
SMEARING WITH SOOT FOR LUCK
In certain parts of Scotland, the bride and groom are covered in treacle, soot and flour a day before their wedding to ward off evil spirits.
THE CEREMONIAL SPIT
In Kenya, the father of a Maasai bride spits on her face and breast as a mark of blessing before she leaves with her husband. Also, while walking to her new home, it is believed that the bride should not look back or she would turn into stone.
BROKEN DISHES, SEALED HEARTS
At German weddings, guests arrive at the would-be bride and groom's doorsteps a night before the ceremony and smash chinaware and porcelain plates — the custom is called Polterabend. The broken shards are believed to bring good luck to the couple and the cacophony scares away evil spirits.
THE NOISY, NAGGING FRIENDS
In France, friends and family of the newlyweds gather in front of their chamber on their first night and stir up a ruckus by beating drums and utensils, and blowing horns. The couple is then forced to come out of their room and distribute food or drinks to the noisemakers. This tradition is known as Charivari.
FOOT BEATING
In Korea, friends of the groom tie his ankles with a rope and beat the soles of his feet with a dried corvina fish or a cane. This ritual is believed to make him stronger before the wedding night.
FORMING HUMAN RUG
In the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia, the relatives of the bride lie facing the ground one after another, to form a human rug. The newlyweds are supposed to walk over them after the marriage ceremony.
MARRYING A POT OR TREE
In India, many Hindus match horoscopes to check the cosmic compatibility of the couple. In the event a particular planet is found occupying a detrimental position in the birth chart, the girl is made to marry a tree first, or in some cases, an earthen pot. This is believed to mitigate the harmful effects of planets on the husband, post marriage.
NO TO NATURE'S CALL
In the Tidong community of Indonesia, the newlyweds aren’t allowed to use the bathroom for three days after the ceremony. They believe that breaking the custom could bring bad luck to the couple, including a broken marriage and premature death of children. During the period, the couples are allowed only minimal amounts of food and drink.
MONEY, OR A CROSS-DRESSED BRIDE!
In Russia, the groom pays a visit to the bride’s family before the wedding and is expected to pay a dowry to meet the girl. If her family considers the dowry insufficient, a substitute wife is presented, which could even be the bride’s cross dressing friend! In that case, the groom needs to make a better dowry offer.
NO SMILING PLEASE!
Weddings are considered serious, thoughtful affairs in Congo, and the bride and groom are not expected to smile throughout the ceremony.
THE ABDUCTION OF THE BRIDE!
In Romania, wedding parties follow the popular tradition called bride-nappnig. The bride's friends stage a mock abduction at the reception gathering and drives her to an undisclosed location. Left behind alone, the groom then negotiates the details of payoff to get his wife released. The ransom is usually a few bottles of alcohol or a romantic serenade for the bride.
SHOE THIEVES
In Indian weddings, the bride's friend's steal the groom's shoes and demand a hefty amount for their return.
SAY IT WITH BOW AND ARROW
In China's Yugur culture, the groom shoots three blunt arrows at his bride using a bow. He then collects the arrows and breaks them, which are believed to ensure forever love between the couple.
A WHALE TOOTH FOR GIRL'S HAND
In Fiji, the groom is expected to ask for the hand of a girl only if he has brought a whale tooth.
