A Floating Feather | Changchun Airport T3
Winning design for the new terminal of Changchun Airport, a floating feather with unique fan-shaped profile, to create a green and sustainable airport in a human scale.
The site has a footprint of 177.6-hectare with a building area of nearly 270,000 square meters. The project is located in Changchun, a city well-known as the international regional hub in Northeast Asia with a population of 23 million. After completion, the terminal will contain 54 aircraft gates and is expected to accommodate 22 million passengers per year, that will become the biggest air transportation junction in northeastern region of China. The terminal has referred to as a garden airport with a calming presence to the airport.

Accredited for environmental protection and reduced carbon emissions for four years—including platinum awards in 2019 and 2020, a silver award in 2021 and a gold award in 2022—it has demonstrated volition for building a green airport and sustainable development. ????
♻️ “Lean Power Consumption and Carbon Reduction Project” includes:
1) Operational strategy adjustments: We streamlined facilities to reduce energy consumption during the pandemic.
2) Replacement of older electrical equipment: Replacing the lighting, air-conditioners and elevators enhanced energy efficiency.
3) Renewable energy developments: Use solar generators with 90 kWh capacity.
It’s Earth Day on the 22nd of April, and we will continue to work towards net zero emissions by 2050! ✈

Earth Day is on the 22nd of April to demonstrate support for environmental protection. For a long time, Taoyuan International Airport has devoted itself to building a green airport to realise sustainability and won a platinum award of ACI’s Asia-Pacific Green Airports Recognition with the “Water-resources Management Plan”. ????
Water resources management indicates three principles: equipment management, preventative maintenance, and increased inspections. Besides regular assessment, wastewater is collected and purified through layers of filtration for reuse. ????
We will continue to reduce carbon emissions and protect our environment! ????
