Amsterdam, Netherlands ???????? Amazing Summer Walk ☀️ 2023 4k HDR Walking Tour ▶︎ Captions

Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands, is a vibrant and dynamic metropolis known for its rich history, picturesque canals, and world-class culture. This charming city is often referred to as the Venice of the North due to its intricate network of canals that crisscross the city, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere.

One of the most iconic features of Amsterdam is its canal belt, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The concentric rings of canals, including the Herengracht, Keizersgracht, and Prinsengracht, are lined with stunning 17th-century canal houses, many of which have been converted into museums, boutique hotels, and stylish cafes. The canal belt offers a sense of tranquility and beauty as visitors take leisurely walks along the water, admiring the elegant architecture and charming bridges.

Amsterdam's cultural scene is vibrant and diverse, with a wide array of museums, galleries, and theaters. The Rijksmuseum, located on Museumplein, is home to an extensive collection of Dutch masterpieces, including Rembrandt's The Night Watch and Vermeer's The Milkmaid. The Van Gogh Museum showcases the works of the iconic artist, while the Stedelijk Museum exhibits contemporary art and design. Amsterdam's cultural offerings extend beyond visual arts, with numerous theaters and concert halls hosting ballets, operas and classical music performances.

The city also celebrates its rich history through its museums and landmarks. The Anne Frank House, located on Prinsengracht, is a poignant tribute to the young Jewish diarist who hid from the Nazis during World War II. The Museum Het Grachtenhuis offers insights into the fascinating history and engineering behind Amsterdam's canal system. The Royal Palace, situated on Dam Square, showcases architectural grandeur and serves as a ceremonial venue for royal events.

Amsterdam is also renowned for its vibrant and diverse neighborhoods. The Jordaan district is a bohemian enclave known for its narrow streets, art galleries, and trendy boutiques. The Oud-West neighborhood boasts a lively food and nightlife scene, while De Pijp is famous for its open-air markets, hip cafes, and the iconic Albert Cuyp Market. Amsterdam Noord, accessible by a free ferry ride, has transformed from an industrial zone into a creative hub, with innovative architecture, art galleries, and cultural festivals.

Bicycles are an integral part of Amsterdam's identity, and cycling is the preferred mode of transportation for locals and visitors alike. With extensive bike lanes and bicycle rentals available throughout the city, exploring Amsterdam on two wheels is a popular and delightful experience. From leisurely rides through Vondelpark to navigating the narrow streets of the city center, cycling offers a unique perspective and allows for easy exploration of Amsterdam's numerous attractions.

Amsterdam's culinary scene is an eclectic fusion of international flavors and traditional Dutch cuisine. From Michelin-starred restaurants to cozy local eateries, the city offers a wide range of culinary delights. Visitors can indulge in traditional Dutch dishes such as bitterballen (deep-fried meatballs), stroopwafels (syrup-filled waffles), or raw herring from the many fish stands found throughout the city. Amsterdam is also celebrated for its multicultural cuisine, with vibrant food markets and diverse eateries representing cuisines from around the world.

Amsterdam's lively nightlife is another draw for visitors. The city is known for its vibrant and progressive clubbing scene, with renowned venues such as Melkweg and Paradiso hosting international DJs and live music performances. The Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein squares are vibrant nightlife hubs, offering a plethora of bars, clubs, and entertainment options.

Overall, Amsterdam is a city that seamlessly blends its rich history with a modern and progressive spirit. With its stunning canals, world-class museums, diverse neighborhoods, culinary delights, and vibrant nightlife,

Travel Switzerland in APRIL? What you NEED to KNOW!

April is a tricky month. It’s Spring and yet still sort of Winter! April is the month with the messiest weather and thus you will need to plan well ahead! In April the weather may change suddenly: It may be sunny and then it turns cloudy, it rains or even snows! Thus, you always would need a plan B for this month. April is the start of the blossom season, the flowers and trees are going to bloom and show beautiful colors. For this, April is definitely the best month as it marks the peak of Spring. Yet, April can be cold, mild or warm, depending where you are at. In Ticino it is mostly going to be warm, Spring over there is ahead of the rest of Switzerland, while up in the Swiss Alps it’s still cold and Winter season. There will be a lot of snow and you even can go for skiing. Many ski resorts will still be open, although not all slopes will be accessible, as there won’t be as much snow as during January or February. The more April is passing, the more it’s turning warmer and the snow will melt. April is a month of culture: There will be various festivals: The Sechseläuten in Zürich, one of the biggest cultural events of the city during the year or then the Easter processions at Mendrisio. The Easter Processions will be taking place on Good Thursday and Good Friday night. April is a rather low season month when it comes to traveling; the hotels won’t be fully booked and you might enjoy some discount. Busy travel time will be however the Easter Weekend; especially the traffic jam at the Gotthard tunnel (up to 8 hours!). The greens are about to come back during April, but to experience the greenest months of Switzerland, you would have to travel during May to September. The waterfalls will be again more powerful, the peak will be during May and June. All in all, April is a great month to travel but requires careful planning due to the weather!

RIVER LIFE, HOW WE DID IT [Adventure #63]

Come see how we live on 16-day, totally self-sufficient, self-supported river trip through the Grand Canyon on an 18-foot raft. We’ll cover how we pack and rig the boats, preparing for the possibility of a flip in whitewater, and also how we unpack and set up camp every day - everything from a temporary kitchen to a toilet. The best part about it all, is soaking up the incredible surroundings, and truly living life off the grid, connecting to nature, leaving no trace.

Amsterdam - Part 2 - Holland Holiday

Amsterdam, You will fall in love with it!

In Part 1 we ended at the lively Museumplein. But Amsterdam has more interesting squares. Like the Leidseplein with the City Theatre and a big cinema. In addition, the Americain Hotel and Cafe where artists and intellectuals come together.
Nearby other attractive places like a casino, the Hard Rock Cafe and poptemple Paradiso.
The Rembrandtsplein, is named after our most famous painter. His statue is in the middle. The statues around him are figures from his most famous painting, the Nachtwacht.
Walk of Rembrandt Square towards the Munttoren. You will come along this famous cinema, Tuschinsky. Completely build in Art Deco style.
When you have reached the Munttoren, shopping street the Kalverstraat is on your right side. Enter the flowermarket on the left side.
An old flea market is at the foot of a characteristic church on the waterlooplein. We’ll come along Amsterdam's town hall. It also houses a theatre.
We are taking a look inside the house where Rembrandt lived and worked.
Another nice square is the Nieuwmarkt. In the middle the monumentual weigh house, surrounded with other historic buildings and cosy terraces.

Alongside Belgium and the Scandinavian countries the Netherlands is the most gay-friendly country in Europe. Every year Amsterdam organizes the Canal Pride. It is a huge celebration of devotion towards equality for the gay, lesbian, and transgender.
Another big party is Kingsday. It is one of the largest open-air festivities in the city. From all over the country people come to Amsterdam for second-hand shopping on the streets. Hundreds of small boats sail along the canals and the beer flows freely.

Amsterdam is also famous for its many coffe shops where you can buy cannabis and marijuana, but beware, there are strict rules. And they change occasionally.
So go to HollandHoliday.net to check the latest rules.

There are many more interesting things to do. Expand your world at the Science Museum Nemo. Or experience our rich nautical history in the Scheepvaart Museum.
Amsterdam has a lot to offer: Art, culture and history. A dynamic cosmopolitan with a tolerant population and spectacular events.

But don’t miss the very exiting places around Amsterdam, like:
De Zaanse Schans wit its remarkable windmills. Authentic harbour Volendam. Picturesque former island Marken. The cheese markets in Edam and Alkmaar. The historic harbours at the IJsselmeer like Hoorn and Enkhuizen with there traditional ships. Or in spring the beautiful bulb fields in Noord-Holland and world famous bulbspark Keukenhof!

So take your time in Amsterdam and all the exciting places around this interesting city.
