Larnaca, Cyprus is an amazing place to visit in Cyprus. If you want to know top 10 what to do in Larnaca or you need a travel guide, please keep watching.

Number 4. Visit the Hala Sultan Tekke
Number one on the things to do list for those seeking some nature just outside Larnaca city is the serenely beautiful Hala Sultan Tekke. This mosque and shrine sits on the western side of Larnaca's Salt Lake, three kilometers west of central Larnaca. An important place of pilgrimage for Muslims, this mosque honors the prophet Muhammad's wet-nurse, Umm Haram, who is said to have died at this site after falling from her donkey, and a shrine was dedicated over her tomb in 645 CE.The present mosque building was built by the Ottomans and dates to 1816.Larnaca's Salt Lake is a nature reserve and in spring, large flocks of flamingos and ducks can be easily seen.During summer, the waters evaporate completely, leaving a crusty white layer of shimmering salt in their place. The area is ringed by a walking trail, which also leads to the Hala Sultan Tekke and makes a lovely afternoon stroll.Due to Larnaca's rather chaotic public transport system, it's easiest to get to the lake and the mosque by your own transport.
Number 3. Stavrovouni Monastery
About 40 kilometers west of Larnaca, atop a jagged clifftop, Stavrovouni Monastery sits in splendid isolation commanding superb panoramic views across the surrounding countryside. This area has long played a role in local religious rites. During Cyprus' period under Greco-Roman control, the summit here held a temple honoring the Goddess Aphrodite. In 327 CE, Empress Helena (mother to Emperor Constantine) sponsored the building of this monastery to take the place of the temple and left a fragment of the Holy Cross in the monastery monks' possession. At the time, Cyprus was suffering under an infestation of poisonous snakes, and local Christians believed that the holy cross installed here under the monks' care brought an end to the snake plague.During the Arab attacks of the 15th century, the original monastery was burnt to the ground, and the current building dates from the 19th century.Be aware that females are not allowed into the actual monastery – although they can view the grounds, which have stupendous views, and visit All Saints Church just outside the compound. Male visitors, though, are free to wander through the monastery and explore the icon laden interiors.
Number 2. Lanes of Lefkara
The villages surrounding Larnaca are some of the best places to visit if you want to get a feel for traditional Cypriot life.Famous for its lace production, the village of Lefkara, west of Larnaca, is a delightful place to explore, full of wonderfully preserved mansion architecture, quaint cafés, and a bundle of lace shops where local women sit in the sun outside creating new lace pieces for sale.Lefkara lace gets its fame from the local story that Leonardo da Vinci bought a piece of lace here in 1481 to be used as an altar cloth in Milan's cathedral. When you've finished shopping, the winding alleys lead you to Lefkara Local Museum which contains dioramas of traditional local life and is brimming with information on the village's history.Afterwards, stroll on to the Church of Archangelos Michael, which holds some important 12th-century icon paintings. The village lies about 38 kilometers southwest of Larnaca and is difficult to access by public transport, so it's best to hire a car, or take a taxi, here.
Number 1. Cyprus: Troodos Mountain Food & Wine Tasting Tour with Lunch
We have one final suggestion for you – Cyprus: Troodos Mountain Food & Wine Tasting Tour with Lunch. Cyprus is a culinary country and our absolute number one is to enjoy the fantastic wines and products this country has to offer. You can book tickets via the link in the description, we recommend that you do this on time, because tickets are quickly fully booked. Spend the day in the Troodos Mountains meeting the locals, discover traditional Cypriot products and stop at a family winery.
A guide will pick you up from a location of your choice and you will be driven through carefully selected villages to visit the locals who make traditional products and taste Cypriot delicacies. One of these stops is an award-winning winery where you can try a selection of wines and discover a variety of indigenous grape varieties. You will learn about the ingredients, the making process and the traditions associated with the products. Part of the tour consists of visiting villages where you have time to explore and see the sights. En route, the group will stop at a local tavern to feast on a selection of Cypriot dishes with a full meze lunch.

I'm Jason, a full-time British Travel Vlogger and YouTuber who's been to 55 countries. I've been travelling around the world full-time since 2017. So far, my trips have taken me to Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

I have travel series' from many of the world's best (and least) known destinations. I filmed the first vlogs on my channel in the summer of 2016 after spending a year living in China. A proper solo trip around Eastern Europe followed after graduating from University in the summer of 2017, taking me to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Kosovo. This trip marked the start of my efforts to make a YouTube full-time job.

After that European trip I went heavily into exploring Asia, visiting India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Kazakhstan (seeing me cover a lot of Far East and Southeast Asia in particular).

I have also travelled to North Africa and the Middle East fairly extensively over the last five years, filming videos in Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and Palestine.

To date, I have not yet been to Australasia or South America. Though I am hoping to visit the latter sometime in 2022, along with a first stop in the Caribbean.

I've travelled to North America just once as a YouTuber, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was as a child on family holidays.

So far in 2022 I've taken my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa, visiting both Kenya and Tanzania, before making my way to the Middle East, stopping in Dubai and Lebanon. Europe followed, starting with Cyprus, covering both the Greek and Turkish sides of the divided island.

Welcome to Cyprus!

On this road trip across the south coast of Cyprus, I’m exploring Cyprus’ most amazing destinations. I’ve done the research, and chosen these must-do activities that will help you plan the perfect trip. Right! It’s time to share with you 9 of the most fantastic things to do on this beautiful island.

The awesome power of nature is everywhere in Cyprus, and my first fantastic thing to do illustrates that perfectly - Avakas Gorge. Be sure to bring some comfortable shoes - there’s a short but lovely hike on the way to the gorge.

Okay, so this is the Avakas Gorge trail that we're going to follow. It's very hot, it’s very dry, we’ve dosed up on sun cream, got tonnes of water in the bag and got about a 2-3km trek to go and find the Gorge. So yeah, let’s get walking!

Like I said, it’s a popular tourist destination, so you can expect to see some tour groups on your walk. The tourist presence doesn’t ruin the appeal. A lot has been done to protect the area. It’s prohibited to pick any plants here, and animals roam freely. You’re completely surrounded by natural beauty.

The walk to the gorge sort of serves a double purpose. The blue sky, the lush green foliage - it sets you up for the shock of finally turning that corner and seeing the walls of the gorge.

The gorge is 3km long, and the walls reach up to 30 metres high. These sheer rock walls are so tall that you’re completely protected from the sun, and the cool breeze blowing through the gorge is so nice after a warm and sticky hike.

The river is low and calm under foot - but during the winter month, the river levels rise and the small stream becomes a torrent. This sense of danger isn’t just under foot- it’s also overhead.

So there's a rock here which is wedged between the cliff faces and it looks pretty ominous! Looks like it’s about to drop.

Beware that some of the mountain roads to get here can be quite tight and get busier as the day goes on. Something to note if you’re a nervous driver.

So here’s a bonus tip for you - right next to wonderful thing to do number 3 is a fantastic restaurant called Oniro By The Sea.

Fantastic food, refreshing cocktails, sea views - Oniro has everything, and I can’t recommend enough that you make it a stop on your trip and it’s just a stone’s throw away from our next destination. In fact, you can probably see it from your table.

It’s just a 5 minute walk from the restaurant at most - the shipwreck of the Edro III.

So that the Shipwreck behind me is quite a sight and it’s been here for just under 10 years now. So apparently back in 2011 it embarked for Rhodes, one of the Greek Islands.

But never made it, because it hit a freak storm and ended up being caught up on the rocks here just off the coastline.

So apparently people fled there, they made it safe, they took out the fuel as soon as they could, so that the oceans weren’t polluted and now? It makes for a rather nice photo opportunity as you can see down there.

I couldn’t help myself - I had to get closer to the ship. The rocks are very rough in places, but I’m so glad I did - getting just that little bit closer to the shipwreck was so awe-inspiring.

The clear water and crashing waves were hypnotising. But if you want even more bang for your buck, just 200 metres from the wreck are sea caves carved into the cliffs.

A great opportunity to walk down the lunch, take some gorgeous holiday pictures, and get one last look at the shipwreck before heading to your next destination.

Coral Bay Beach is widely regarded as one of the best beaches on the island. That’s right, it only took me three Things To Do until I wanted to hit the beach, and it’s the most visited beach on Cyprus’ West Coast.

It’s easy to see why - it’s got fine, white sand, calm, clear water - everything you’d want for a day in the sun. If you’re put off by seeing so many people here, don’t worry. I found an easy solution.

So yes, Coral Beach is a fairly obvious beach to come to, you’ve got your parasols your water sports, your deckchairs.

Our First Impressions Of Cyprus???????? (we're in love)

In today's episode, we bring you on our first two days in the incredibly interesting country of Cyprus, an island split between three (or four, if you count the UN) powers and with a complicated history. (The three powers are the Republic of Cyprus (Greek), Turkey, and the UK.)

These days, it's a popular beach destination for us Europeans, and it was definitely about time we went there!

On this trip, we would only explore the southern Greek part. In the future, we'll hopefully be able to visit Northern Cyprus too (controlled and recognized only by Turkey).

We are Oskar & Dan, two boys from Sweden who decided to change the course of our lives, drop out of university, and live life full-time. We're trying to see and learn as much about the world as possible while we're young. Right now, we are working to visit 100 countries before the end of 2022???? Ayia Napa attracted its first tourists (mostly Scandinavian) on the back of its incredible beaches. There is a selection of idyllic powder white sand beaches. The water is crystal clear with a lovely blue-green color. The water tends to be quite shallow. Even if you are a swimming pool person, visiting Ayia Napa’s beaches will surely convert you. Every beach will have a water sports center so make sure you know the boundaries of the swimming and powerboat areas. Food, drinks, umbrellas and sun beds are all available for 2.5€ each but you need to get there early to reserve yours. Paragliding is widely available while bungee jumps come in and out of fashion.

Nissi Beach the most infamous of them all. In the height of the summer you need to get there early to reserve your patch. About 4 km from the central square. BBC Radio One has staged its beach parties here.
Makronissos Beach Just as nice (if not nicer) as Nissi Beach, a bit further away. At times less busy and more family orientated.
Grecian Bay Also known as Harbour Beach or Limanaki, or Pantachou Beach it is the closest sandy beach to the centre of Agia Napa. This is a beautiful beach that stretches along three coves to the east of the small fishing harbour. Not so fashionable as the two above, but just as nice a beach.
Sandy Bay (or Vathkia Gonia) a sheltered beach nestled between two headlands, It is popular with families and is more low key and quieter than its busy neighbor (Nissi)
Konnos Bay This is truly one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe and is very popular with locals and tourists alike, due to it being surrounded by mountains and having crystal clear waters. It is in the Cape Greko area and half of it is in Ayia Napa territory, while the other half belongs to Protaras.

The Square should be your first choice for nightlife in the area. Although the area is a lot smaller than you might expect, there is a lot packed into the area and there are plenty of cheesy places to drink. Main bars include Bedrock, the Castle Club and Ice. Be aware that competition between various bars is phenomenally fierce and most if not all bars employ promotional staff who will constantly accost you on the street with special offers such as 2 for 5 (2 drinks for 5€) with free shots or drinks. These people are exceptionally persistent and will even go as far as to grab you should you refuse to acknowledge them. Although they pose no threat they can be very annoying. Be particularly aware of those trying to promote Toga Toga or Moulin Rouge, the main strip clubs on the island. Toga Toga has agents who are very persistent and will harass you multiple times on their moped during your stay. However, if you're interested, it is always worth haggling with them as they sometimes give you tickets for free.

Moulin Rouge are less intrusive but be very careful about insulting their PR staff. By all means, listen to the various PR people if you're partially interested because they can get you genuine deals in bars and clubs, but remember that ultimately these people's sole aim is to make you poorer and them richer, so politely tolerate but don't fall for their efforts to try and make friends with you. However, it can be amusing to distract them from their job and try to engage them in long conversation. Watch out for two guys that come around asking if you want to come on a boat party, as in 2004 several boat party operators were arrested for organizing drunken orgies aboard their boats [16].

Clubs and bars are open until daybreak and as a result, the 'scene' doesn't really begin to pick up until around 11-ish. Patrons who are used to attending bars from 8PM and heading to a club around midnight will need to reset their body clocks. Source: Wikitravel

If you’re coming to Cyprus, I’m sure you’re going to be thinking about all the delicious food you’re going to eat. So here are a few of our top tips where (and what) to eat whilst in Cyprus. For breakfast, grab something fast and delicious to take on the road. There’s so much to see, and not a second to waste! The bakeries here are incredible, everything’s freshly baked and huge! Perfect car snacks, along with great coffee to go. Mini pizzas, savoury pies or perhaps you’d prefer to indulge your sweet tooth with the fabulous biscuits and pastries on offer... fruit filled to the classic, decadent baklava... heaven! For lunch, make it a stop on your adventure, and take the chance to go somewhere with character. Our tip for finding the best food - look for locally owned taverna style restaurants, and you’ll definitely be onto a good thing! They’re more likely to serve traditional food and purchase locally sourced ingredients, putting your money back into the local economy. We had a great lunch at Oniro By The Sea, a taverna looking onto a shipwreck. It has traditional food on the menu but also safe bets like burgers - if you’re travelling with the family. For dinner? Give yourself a chance to wind down... and take the best shortcut EVER to trying loads of different kinds of Cypriot cuisine, by ordering a mezze! Where you’ll get a selection of smaller dishes. So we’ve found a restaurant along the seafront and we’ve ordered mezze. And I love ordering mezze because it means you’re going to get loads of different flavours from the Cypriot menu. Here we’ve got the salad, we’ve got their traditional bread which has cinnamon in it, got some tzatziki, aubergine dip, obviously halloumi, and there’s gonna be more and more coming. Apparently we’ve got 20 dishes to try, so I’m going to get stuck in! Have you got a favourite Cypriot dish, or place to eat? Let us know in the comments below! And don’t forget to subscribe for more on Cyprus and loads of other amazing destinations from all over the world. See you next time!

A Tourist's Guide to Larnaca and Northen Cyprus

I fly into Larnaca, and, after seeing the few sights on offer there, get a bus to Nicosia where I cross the border in the Turkish part of Cyprus.

Larnaca Finikoudes promenade, Cyprus

In the northern part of the promenade is located the castle of Larnaca, built in 1625, during the Turkish rule. The castle is small, it looks more like a Fort. Previously, the same place was the castle of the crusaders. The promenade in Larnaca has divided in three parts: Finikoudes, Piale Pasha and Mackenzie.

The most famous part of the embankment is located between the castle of Larnaca and the seaport. This part of the embankment is called Finikoudes (Date’s) and its length is 700 meters. The embankment is very wide, with palm trees planted on both sides. It ends near the Seaport. In front of it you can see the City Hall and the monument to Zeno of Kition. He was a Greek stoic philosopher, originally from Larnaca. On the promenade Finikudes also installed the Venetian lion in memory of the reign of the Venetians in Cyprus in the 16th century.
