10. Zürich Lifestyle
Zürich is the largest city in Switzerland by land area and population. It is the financial centre of Switzerland and houses the stock exchange and the headquarters of a large number of national and international companies. National and international media agencies as well as most of the national TV channel companies are also located here.
9. Lakeside Lucerne
Lucerne is a beautiful small city in the heartland of Switzerland, across the lake from Altdorf, where legend has it William Tell shot an apple off of his son's head. In addition to being a fine place to visit in and of itself Lucerne is a great base from which to explore famous Swiss sites such as Mount Rigi, Pilatus, Titlis and the Rütli Meadow.

No trio are more immortalised in mountaineering legend than Switzerland's 'big three' -- Eiger (Ogre), Mönch (Monk) and Jungfrau (Virgin) - peaks that soar to the sky above the traditional 19th-century resort of gorgeous old Grindelwald. And whether you choose to schuss around on skis, shoot down Europe's longest toboggan run on the back of an old-fashioned sledge, bungee-jump in the Gletscherschlucht or ride the train up to Europe's highest station at 3454m, your heart will thump.

Berne, the capital of Switzerland, is a small to medium sized city with a population of about 130,000 in the city proper and roughly 350,000 in the agglomeration area. It sits on a peninsula formed by the meandering turns of the river Aare. The remarkable design coherence of the Berne's old town has earned it a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Mostly known for its world-famous two week long Jazz Festival (a bit of a misnomer: you're just as likely to catch David Bowie or Beck as, say Steve Coleman), Montreux is well worth a wander through, if only to get to the scenic Château de Chillon or to get to the hiker's paradise of Hauts de Montreux.
5. Aletsch Glacier
The Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in the Alps. It has a length of about 23 km and covers more than 120 square kilometres in the eastern Bernese Alps in the Swiss canton of Valais. The Aletsch Glacier is composed of three smaller glaciers converging at Concordia, where its thickness is estimated to be near 1 km.
4. Lake Geneva
Lake Geneva, known in French as Lac Léman, is one of the largest lakes in western Europe. It lies on the course of the Rhone river on the frontier between France and Switzerland. The main attractions of the region are the cities and towns surrounding the lake, the opportunities for skiing and hiking in both mountain ranges, and of course the lake itself.
3. Hiking in the Swiss National Park
No country in Europe is more synonymous with magnificent and mighty hiking than Switzerland, and its high-altitude national park with eagle-dotted skies is the place to do it. Follow trails through flower-strewn meadows to piercing blue lakes, knife-edge ravines, rocky outcrops and Alpine huts where shepherds make summertime cheese with cows' milk, fresh that morning from the bell-clad herd.
2. Matterhorn
The Matterhorn is one of the tallest mountains in the Alps. The Matterhorn has a pyramidal shape with four faces facing the four compass points: the north and east faces overlook the town of Zermatt; the south face overlooks the resort town of Breuil-Cervinia; and the west face looks towards the mountain of Dent d'Hérens, which straddles the border.
1. The Glacier Express
The Glacier Express is an express train connecting railway stations of the two major mountain resorts of St. Moritz and Zermatt in the Swiss Alps. The train is operated jointly by the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) and Rhaetian Railway (RhB). For much of its journey, it also passes along and through the World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina Landscapes.

Switzerland is a small country full of surprises and wonderful villages. Since decades, Switzerland has been attracting numerous tourists from allover the world. It is the Alps that fascinates most of the visitors but also the very well preserved villages. Although Switzerland is quite small, depending on the region, the villages and towns may look very different. In this video, the 10 most beautiful villages from allover the country will be presented in detail. While there may be a few that you might have heard of, there will be quite some surprises. Gruyères is THE place to experience the medieval vibes in Switzerland. The castle, the museums and furthermore the foodie world of Gruyères are really exciting to experience, do not forget to try fondue, Gruyère cheese and double cream! Zermatt is the most popular village on this list. Visit the many panoramas over the Swiss Alps, see the Matterhorn or simply explore the village of Zermatt itself! Discover the many beautiful traditional wooden houses scattered around this Swiss village! Visit what used to be the smallest municipality of Switzerland: Corippo. Corippo is located in the Valle Verzasca in Ticino. It's a wonderful village full of stone houses and very interesting: ONLY 12 people live in there! Surely, it's not crowded there. Saint-Ursanne is another medieval village; the town that could be in a fairytale. Saint-Ursanne is built along the river doubs and charms with its many medieval houses and wonderful abbey. Guarda - the town of Schellenursli - in the lower Engadin is located in the Rumantsch speaking region of Switzerland. It's far away the urban centres and very quiet. The houses are all decorated with red flowers; cheesy and alluring! Lauterbrunnen is another touristy favorite. The village is small but it's located in the Valley of 72 Waterfalls! Enjoy the scenery with its many waterfalls and greens! Do not forget to go up to Wengen and the Jungfraujoch! Epesses is located in Switzerland's wine region at lake Geneva! It's a wonderful village in the middle of the vineyards and definitely offers you enough viewpoints over the wine terraces, lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps. Stein am Rhein is also a very medieval and cultural village. The old town is perfectly preserved and charms with its many painted houses. Spectacular is the No e Wili play that is held on a 10-25 years base. Enjoy swimming in the river Rhine or dining at the Castle Hohenklingen. MORCOTE is the most beautiful Swiss village on this Top 10 list! It's located at Lake Lugano and charms with its appearance of being built at the hill. Stunning is the church Maria del Sasso, the wonder garden in the Parco Scherrer and furthermore the many viewpoints on the hill. Morcote is by the way considered not very touristy. Explore the nearby attractions around Romainmôtier: cascade de nozon, caves at Vallorbe or de Tine de Conflens. Very enjoyable is also Diessenhofen. It's the non-touristy alternative to the more known village of Stein am Rhein. Diessenhofen is located at the shore of the river Rhine. A wonderful Swiss village with a beautiful wooden bridge and great vibes. BAUEN is the hidden gem Swiss village on this list! It's located at Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) and charms with its warm climate. Bauen is full of palm trees and beautiful houses. Bauen is furthermore the home town of the composer of the Swiss national anthem. Visit La Neuveville in the canton of Berne in the Jura 3 lakes region. It's an old town with many beautiful houses. In La Neuveville, you may experience medieval vibes. SCHWELLBRUNN in Appenzell is a very cultural place. It was awarded the most beautiful village of Switzerland in 2017. Schwellbrunn is great to visit during Winter and Summer. In September, they host a cow show, a typical Swiss tradition. Do not forget to visit Schwellbrunn on 31st of December: During the early morning there will be Silvesterklausen. Foroglio is a small Swiss village in Ticino. Foroglio is very attractive with its large waterfall and the many traditional stone houses. Visit Foroglio when you come to the Val Bavona and also proceed to Sonlerto; the non-touristy alternative. Both traditional villages are stunning to visit! Soglio is another village that is less-visited. It’s located in Eastern Switzerland, in the Italian speaking part of Graubünden. Soglio is a very calm and quiet village at where you may enjoy many great views over the Swiss Alps as well as hiking trails. Grimentz, my favorite Swiss village is what I consider the perfectly stereotypically Swiss village you could visit! Grimentz is full of traditional wooden houses that are all decorated with beautiful flowers. There is a very nice creek passing through the village, a great photo spot. Grimentz is a must visit for anyone who loves to visit villages! MORCOTE has been awarded as the Top most beautiful village of Switzerland in 2016. It’s located in Ticino at Lake Lugano. Morcote is built at a hill; enjoy the promenade along the lake or hiking up to the church or even higher. The view down to the village of Morcote is stunning. A great place to not miss out! ISELTWALD is the most beautiful Swiss Village on this Top 10 list. The village is located in the Berner Oberland at Lake Brienz. Iseltwald is full of beautiful houses concentrating around the bay. Walk along the promenade or pier or enjoy the castle of Iseltwald. Iseltwald is great to reach by boat from Interlaken or Brienz. Top 10 SUMMER Switzerland – Best of / Highlights [Travel Guide]
Switzerland is very exciting to be visited during Summer (June, July, August and September) since pretty much all of the attractions are open. The country will be fully green, the days long and the weather warm. There will usually be a lot of sun and you can enjoy fantastic views over the Swiss Alps, roam around villages or cities or do more adventurous activities. Zurich is great to be visited during Summer, it’s warm, vibrant and there will be a lot of street cafes. Stroll through the alleys and walk along the Limmat quay or hang out at the Bellevue to enjoy Lake Zurich and the view to the Swiss Alps. The Rhone glacier at the Furka passroad is a highlight during Summer. You can visit the ice cave inside the glacier and overall enjoy a great drive up to the pass and down to the canton of Valais. You may also go for the Furka steam railway train that is one of the best nostalgic attractions of Switzerland. The rhinefalls is the highest river waterfall of Europe. It can be visited from the side of Schaffhausen or Zurich, where the first one is in general better. You can take the boat to the rock and stand in the middle of the waterfall. Otherwise take a boat to the side of Zurich, enjoy the views from the balconies and head up to the castle. Lake Lugano region is very exciting during Summer. You can visit the town of Lugano, head up to Mount San Salvatore or have a quiet time at the villages of Morcote or Gandria. Lugano is one of the most visited Swiss cities during Summer. The Giessbach falls are one of the best in all of Switzerland. There are 14 waterfalls that enchant any visitor. There is also the oldest still operating funicular of Switzerland and a nostalgic hotel. The grand hotel Giessbach. The interior is very beautiful and romantic. The Lavaux are the Swiss vineyard terraces at Lake Geneva. There are many great hiking trails among the vineyards and also the villages of Epesses and Saint-Saphorin. Besides the wine terraces you can also visit the Château de Chillon, Switzerland’s most beautiful castle by the lake. The Valle Verzasca is in Ticino and is the home to some of the best bathing places in Switzerland. There is the village of Lavertezzo that charms with its roman bridge and the clear waters. Also, visit the villages of Corippo and Sonogno, true gems in the Verzasca Valley. You may also go for a bungee jump at the Verzasca dam that is only possible to do during Summer in Switzerland. The Oeschinensee is one of the top attractions in all of Switzerland during Summer. Here you can have one of the best hikes and views in the Swiss Alps. The lake is very beautiful with its striking color but also enjoy the panorama with the Alps and the roller coaster that is just next to the cabin station. The Lauterbrunnen Valley, the valley of 72 waterfalls is one of the most visited regions in Switzerland during Summer. Many people come to Lauterbrunnen to see the many waterfalls, head up to Jungfrau or the Schilthorn. The village of Lauterbrunnen is also enchanting. The most beautiful place among the top 10 during Summer in Switzerland is the Aletsch Glacier. Here you can have one of the best alpine panoramas, see the massive bent of the glacier from the Eggishorn and have a great hike down to the eternal ice. The Aletsch glacier is the largest glacier of the Alps, 23 km of natural ice!

Mount Pilatus in the Lake Lucerne region is full of legends. The name of the mountain comes from a rumor that the famous biblical Roman governor Pontius Pilate may have been buried there. Medieval Europeans believed that the mountain formed as a dragon rock falling from the sky.

This giant water fountain is one of Geneva’s most famous landmarks. Shooting 140 meters (460 feet) into the air, the Jet d’Eau sits where Lake Geneva empties into the Rhone river, and is so large that it can be seen from miles away. The gate was built in the 1100s, and the clock that graces the tower is one of the most spectacular and oldest clocks that can be visited anywhere in the world. Built in 1530, this clock was the city’s master clock for centuries. The Baroque style with gold accents is a beautiful picture for both amateur and professional photographers.

The Bernina Express is a brightly colored scarlet train that crosses the Alps beginning in the town of Chur and ends in Tirano, just across the border in northern Italy. Arguable the most scenic Swiss train ride, the route takes about 4hours, and goes over 196 bridges and through 55 tunnels.

The Chapel Bridge is a 204 meter (670 foot) long bridge crossing the Reuss River in the city of Lucerne. It is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe, and one of main tourist attractions in Switzerland. The covered bridge, constructed in 1333, was designed to help protect the city of Lucerne from attacks. Inside the bridge are a series of paintings from the 17th century, depicting events from Luzerne’s history. Much of the bridge, and the majority of these paintings, were destroyed in a 1993 fire, though it was quickly rebuilt.
