SAMGRELO - ZEMO SVANETI, GEORGIA - Welcome to Western Georgia, a region that’s known for delicious cheese and some of the spiciest and most complex food in all of Georgia. Today we’re taking a road trip, will be eating some food along the way, but finally making our way to Zugdid for some of the greatest Georgian food in the county.
Restorani Zgapari Rikoti ( - Ubisa, Georgia - Just a few hours from Tbilisi, we started our food tour today at Restorani Zgapari Rikoti, in the mountains next to a river. They serve regional Georgian food and they are known for their wild mushrooms and fried chicken. It was another amazing meal, with unique dishes, and lots of walnuts and cheese.
Bikentia's Kebabery ( - Kutaisi, Georgia - Kutaisi is a large city in Georgia and we didn’t have long to stay, but I wanted to stop for a very quick kebab at a legendary restaurant. Turned out delicious!
Folk House ( - We finally made it to Zugdidi, Georgia, and the destination of the day. We went directly to the Folk House where we met with one of the most interesting guys in the country who is an artist, collector, singer, musician and Chef. He cooks some of the best local Samgrelo food. There were so many dishes I had never heard of or seen before. I loved the cold walnut stews and the highlight was the elarji, one of the most unique of all Georgian foods. It’s cornmeal with a huge amount of cheese mixed in. It’s probably the world’s greatest cheese pull!
Sisatura – Ethno village ( - Finally to wrap up this amazing day of Georgian food, we went to an Ethno village where we learned a little about the local Samgrelo culture and ate another fantastic meal!

I Nearly Bought A Piglet In Georgia's Friendliest Market | Zugdidi ????????
Zugdidi farmer's market is officially Georgia's best and craziest market ????????
We headed down to the market without the intention of even making a market video but this place was just unbelievable so here we are enjoy.
First we arrived on a Sunday morning and it was already super busy perfect for a market hunt, first impressions here is that locals and vendors are actually interested in foreigners, they don't push you to buy anything and when you buy they offer the right price same as locals pay (other markets in Georgia charge like 2-5x local price sometimes)
Everyone also just wanted to have a chat and ask where we're from etc, they didn't even ask us to buy from them so we knew we were onto a winner here.
First bought some Georgian adjika which is a staple from this region and supposedly the best you can get, we bought from a lovely lady who we later returned to, a small pot of green adjika was only 2 GEL.
Next we looked at some Kupati which are traditional Georgian sausages, a massive fresh sausage here only cost 10 GEL, this lady was from Sokhumi, Abkhazia and also sold fresh loose tea so we bought a bag of this aswell for only 1 GEL.
Then we found a super nice Babushka with a warm smile she was so friendly and we ended up trying all kinds of stuff like red adjika, Georgian wine and delicious cognac, we didn't need anything so we just bought some coriander powder for 1 GEL!
Walking through these streets is like going back in time it's mental as if your back in the soviet union, we bought a huge bag of peeled garlic for 1 GEL and then a HUGE bunch of fresh coriander for only 0.5 GEL.
Found a local restaurant that looked after us and for 14 GEL we had 2 huge bowls of spicy beef kharcho and a pint of ice cold batumi draught beer.

Had a look at the hazelnut churchkela or the georgian snickers if you will, only 2 GEL a piece but bought none of those today.
Met a lovely lady who sells fresh coffee beans and she made us a delicious Turkish coffee for only 1 GEL (yes it's a theme everything seems to cost 1 GEL here)
Zugdidi Farmers market is what I imagine Georgia was like 10 years ago before the tourism boom.
Stumbled across huge warehouses and corridors full to the brim of used clothes for sale imported from Western countries.
Hit the end of the market where cows were grazing next to the swampy River and soviet Tower flats before heading into the back alleys and livestock section where I nearly accidentally bought a Piglet for 70 GEL.
Then we found the nicest babushkas in the whole market outdoors who had a classic Georgian lemonade stand, they were 0.50 GEL each so we had 3 in different flavours they are so good trust me.
We headed back to the first vendor because she was lovely and bought a few bottles of Georgian tkhemali sauce which is a special plum sauce and its my new favourite for sure.
That's pretty much it this is a long one but I just couldn't stop filming this market was the best experience I've had in all Georgia, far away from the tourist traps and dishonest people.

This GEORGIAN City Is More Than Just A Transit Town | ZUGDIDI ????????
We finally made it to the city of Zugdidi in the samegrelo region here in Western Georgia ????????
We were originally heading to Abkhazia first but got denied entry as the border is still closed to tourists so here we are in the beautiful little city of Zugdidi.
We head out for a bit of a walk/City tour giving our impressions of what it's like here, most people just transit through the city onwards to the popular tourist mountains of Mestia & Ushguli but we like the underdog destinations so stayed for a while to see what it's all about.
Check out a few market scenes (crazy market video is coming next) found a classic fake McDonald's as always in Eastern Europe that serves shawarma.
Wandered the local neighbourhoods and streets before getting some sweet Georgian snacks from the bakery.
Then headed down the beautiful Zugdidi Boulevard that runs throughout the entire center of the city. Ate a super tasty cheap snack from another bakery before chatting to the street doggos.
We then check out the Dadiani Palace here in Zugdidi which used to house a noble family who governed this region back in the day before meeting an absolute nutter who would not leave us alone.
Just a bit of a quick city tour this place is well worth visiting for a while the market is the greatest in Georgia, people are nice and megrelian food is delicious. Definitely more to this place than just a transit town believe me.

From TBILISI to MESTIA ???????? (TRAVELING to SVANETI GEORGIA + Megrelian and Svan food!)
The Upper Svaneti region of Georgia is absolutely gorgeous, and even though it’s a long way from Tbilisi, getting there doesn’t have to be painful! In today’s video, we travel from Tbilisi to Mestia, the hub of Upper Svaneti through a combination of train and minibus (marshrutka). We bring you along as we cross the country through a train, stop over in Zugdidi—where we visit a local farmer’s market, walk around the Dadiani Palace Complex, feast on tasty Megrelian food, including elarji, and try Georgian churchkhela)—and finally get on a minibus that takes us all the way into the beautiful Georgian mountains! I continue explore Georgia country as a Georgia solo traveler. I travel with marshrutka to Mestia. Georgia beautiful places in the Caucasus Mountains at elevation 1500 metres above sea level. Mestia is a must visit places in Georgia. It's a highland townlet in Georgia. It's the main centre of Zemo(upper) Svaneti. Mestia is also the base to start trekking. I go to Mestia from Batumi with Marshrutka. It's public transportation of minibus, it's very common in former Soviet Union countries and also here in Georgia. There's no direct bus from Batumi to Mestia. So i go from Batumi to Zugdidi, it's a city in Georgia, it's part of Zemo Svaneti too. Then i continue from Zugdidi to Mestia with Marshrutka too. Zemo Svaneti is Georgia beautiful places. It's a must visit places in Georgia. It's one of best places in Georgia.
