Belgium - Brussels and Bruges

During our European vacation in 2018, we spent three days and two nights in Belgium. The Eurostar train left London at 6:47am. The ride was smooth and comfortable. At 150mph, you hardly feel like you are moving.

Brussels was the first stop for a few hours. Stored out backpacks at the train station and met in the main square for a walking tour. After the tour, we had some fries and headed back to the train station for the next train the Bruge.

We sat with a young local on the train who was commuting from work in Brussels to Ghent and had a very nice conversation. The hosts at the Speelmansrei Bed & Breakfast were awesome and would recommend them! Exploring the city, parks and churches and enjoying the great food and beer took care of the next couple days.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My wife and I spent 23 days in Europe visiting 7 countries in 2018. Planning began about 8 months before the trip. The goal was to see as much as we could but at a slow pace. Visiting 7 countries in 23 days sounds like a lot but we did not feel that way during the trip. One way to use time efficiently during travel is to utilize the night trains. We took two trips between countries on an overnight train. This allowed for us to combine travel and lodging in the same time period.

Utilizing travel hacking allowed us to save money on air fare and some lodging. The flights from Chicago, Illinois to London, England were purchased with airline miles and some lodging was purchased with hotel points. Traveling light was a priority for us as we each had one backpack. This was a fantastic way to go. It was so easy to navigate on and off trains and walk to all our destinations.

We used AirBnB in Prague and it was great. The place was perfect and the host was very nice and helpful. If you have not tried Airbnb, Save $40 off your first stay with my Airbnb referral link . In addition, there was no extra cost to text or use data with our cell phones in any of the countries we visited. Prior to our European trip we switched cell phone providers to Google Fi. The connectivity was great and we had a small fee for a phone call or two that we made. If you are interested in Google Fi, Get a $20 credit with my Google Fi referral link . One final expense saving tip to save on ATM fees. This is always a concern for people traveling in foreign countries. Our first order of business when arriving in a new country was to find an ATM and withdraw some currency. By utilizing the Fidelity cash management debit card. ALL our ATM fees were reimbursed by Fidelity. I learned about this card in this Go Curry Cracker blog article

Reach out via the comments below if you have any questions about our European vacation.

About Mons.. Located 35 miles south of Brussels, military buffs will find a rich history in Mons, the capital of the Province of Hainaut. British and German troops occupied Mons in 1914 during World War I, yet the city also has ruins dating back to the ancient Romans

and with Collégiale Ste-Waudru (Collegiate Church of St. Waudru)
The treasury at the Saint Waudru collegiate church in Mons houses a beautiful collection of silver and gold religious icons: statues, paintings and ancient manuscripts dating from the 12th-19th centuries.

BEST STRAWBERRIES EVER in BRUGGE, BELGIUM! Travel Vlog/Video~

Hi Everyone!

Welcome back to all those who are returning and welcome to all those who are new~

This video is the ninth part of the thirteen-part series I am doing on my trip to Europe in Summer 2018 (if you would like to skip forward to the part of the trip in Brugge, Belgium, you can do so at 1:14!)

I will put all of the places I went to down below!! If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to let me know!~

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 30, 2018 (Brugge, Belgium)
--We checked out of our airbnb in Antwerp, Belgium around 9:30am and headed over to the central station where we took the train to go to Brugge, Belgium. While waiting we got some Belgium waffles (which really isn't a thing as there are 3 different types of waffles, not just one BELGIUM waffle)
--Our train ride was only an hour and a half long. Once we arrived, we dropped off our luggage in the locker in the station and then headed over to the Grote Market. Brugge really reminded me of Beauty in the Beast (the introduction where everyone says bonjour)
--While waiting for our free walking tour to begin, we walked around the grote market and bought food (strawberries, waffles and meat). All super cheap and SOOO good. Literally the best strawberries I have ever had in my entire life (melted in my mouth like sugar)
--Afterwards, we couldn't find the group that we originally wanted to go on tour with so we joined another group (worst idea as it was super boring and we didn't learn anything about the city-we actually left early because it was boring and thought it would be better to just walk around on our own)
--At around 3:30pm we walked back to the station for our train to Brussels, Belgium, only an hour or so train ride.
--Once we arrived, we went to our airbnb (had to get the key from a bar since the host was not present), checked in, and chilled (shower and did laundry) until our host came.
--When he came, he showed us around, treated us to beer and even gave us recommendations on where to eat and what to do (AMAZING host)-you can find him on my airbnb page.
--After dinner, we headed back to the airbnb and rested as we did a lot of traveling to get ready for another full day tomorrow!

Overall, we had very busy day with moving from city to city, but I really enjoyed each experience that we had!! Can't wait for what's in store next!

World's Oldest Cafe II Vlissingen cafe brugge II Bruges II Brugge II Belgium II Venice II Go2touring

World's Oldest Cafe : Vlissingen Cafe Brugge / Bruges is a city of Belgium which is also called as NorthWest Europe's Venice . Detailed information in this video on my channel Go2touring.
In Brugges you can see many 400-500 yrs old medieval buildings and those are still standing in sound condition. European people do preserve their history and tradition with great efforts. Boat tour in Bruges Canal / BRUGES' canals boat tour is the most important part of the visit to Bruges. Rest Belfry Tower, Chocolate Museum ; Chocostory ,church of our lady bruges , Torture Museum , Bruges are the other tourist attractions of Brugge. Many tourists don't know about Vlissingen , one of the oldest cafes in the world. It was established in the year 1515 that is almost 500 years ago. I strongly recommend to have meals and their home brewed Beer here.
