My FAVORITE CITY in Russia? | Kazan, Tatarstan
Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia - Our third stop on our journey across the entire country of Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway is Kazan.
We arrive early on the train from Moscow to Kazan and head straight out to the Blue Lake of Kazan.
We go scuba diving in the Blue Lake and then head back into the city of Kazan, capital of the Republic of Tatarstan for lunch and exploration.
We try traditional Russian and Tatar food and then explore the Kazan Kremlin and bustling Bauman Street in downtown Kazan.
The next morning we take a boat from kazan to the ancient capital of Bolgar, where we visit the old city and go inside the White Mosque.
From there, it was back into Kazan to catch the Trans-Siberian Railway once more - this time, we're heading into the Ural Mountains!

My name is Daria and I live in Moscow. I decided to make a little trip to Kazan for one day.
Some facts.
Kazan is the sixth most populous city in Russia.
It is one of the host cities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Population of Kazan is more than 1 243 500.
Kazan lies at the confluence of the Volga and Kazanka Rivers.
There are 2 official languages in Kazan: Russian and Tatarian. And they have 2 presidents.
Kazan’s subway has 10 stations.
There is an Aero express from the airport. It takes 30 minutes to get to the center. It costs 40 rubles, in comparison, in Moscow a ticket for aero express costs 500 rubles.
You will see many historical buildings, the beautiful Volga river, taste national sweets and dishes, meet calm people.
In comparison with Moscow this city is calm, the air is fresh, and the prices are lower.
Most interesting places are concentrated in the center of Kazan. Let’s start our trip.

The favorable geographical location on the trade ways connecting East and West was the reason for the growth of Kazan.

A Day in Kazan - The Capital of Tatars
In November 2020, I decided to escape my daily routine and visit Kazan, one of my favorite cities in Russia. Kazan is a unique combination of cohabitation of people of hundreds of nations. For the last decade Kazan has been developed to purely European city but it also saved it's natural mixed vibe of numerous cultures.

The Republic of Tatarstan, or simply Tatarstan, is a republic of Russia located in Eastern Europe. It is a part of the Volga Federal District and its capital and largest city is Kazan, one of the most important cultural centres of Russia.
The republic borders Kirov, Ulyanovsk, Samara, and Orenburg Oblasts, the Mari El, Udmurt, and Chuvash Republics, and the Republic of Bashkortostan. The area of the republic is 68,000 square kilometres (26,000 sq mi). The unofficial Tatarstan motto is Bez Buldırabız! (We can!). As of the 2010 Census, the population of Tatarstan was 3,786,488.
Islam is the most common faith in Tatarstan, as, 53.8% of the estimated 3.8 million population is Muslim while the remaining population is mostly Russian Orthodox Christian and non-religious.
Tatarstan is one of the most economically developed regions of Russia. The republic is highly industrialized and ranks second to Samara Oblast in terms of industrial production per km2.in 2017 Tatarstan's GDP per capita was $10,000, with total GDP at about $35 billion.
There are three UNESCO world heritage sites in Tatarstan—Kazan Kremlin, Bulgarian State Museum-Reserve, and Assumption Cathedral and Monastery of the town-island of Sviyazhsk.
The republic has vast experience in the organization of high-tech production. Tatarstan is home to a number of flagship projects such as Tatneft (listed in the Top 5 of Russian oil companies), chemical and petrochemical holding TAIF, oil refinery TANECO, one of the largest petrochemical companies in Europe Nizhnekamskneftekhim, Russia's largest trucks manufacturer KAMAZ, Kazan Helicopters, Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant named after A. M. Gorky, and many others. A lot of things that make Russia modern and competitive are made in Tatarstan.
Kazan has an official status of Russia's sports capital. The city has almost all the required infrastructure for hosting large-scale events like summer Olympics. Kazan has hosted multiple international sports competitions like the Universiade, the World Aquatics Championship, the FIFA Confederations Cup and the FIFA World Cup.

മുൻ റഷ്യൻ ഫെഡറേഷനിലുൾപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന 21 റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കുകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് ടാട്ടർസ്താൻ. മുമ്പ് യു. എസ്. എസ്. ആർ.-ൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ജനവർഗാടിസ്ഥാന-രാഷ്ട്രീയ ഭൂവിഭാഗമായിരുന്നു ഇത്. വംശീയാടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ സോവിയറ്റ് യൂണിയനിൽ രൂപം കൊണ്ട ആദ്യ സ്വയംഭരണ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് ടാട്ടർസ്താൻ. രാഷ്ട്ര തലസ്ഥാനമായ കസനു (Kazan) ചുറ്റുമായാണ് ഉല്പ്പാദന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. രാസ വസ്തുക്കൾ, തുകൽ, രോമചർമ്മ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ, യന്ത്രസാമഗ്രികൾ എന്നിവയാണ് ഇവിടെത്തെ പ്രധാന ഉത്പ്പന്നങ്ങൾ. സെലനോഡോൾസ്കിൽ (Zelenodolsk), തടിയുത്പന്നങ്ങൾ, സ്ഫടികം തുടങ്ങിയവയുടെ വ്യവസായവും ചിസ്റ്റോപോളിൽ (chistopol) ക്ലോക്കുകൾ, വാച്ചുകൾ എന്നിവയുടെ ഉത്പ്പാദനവും കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇവിടെത്തെ സുലഭമായ എണ്ണ നിക്ഷേപങ്ങൾ എണ്ണ ശുദ്ധീകരണ വ്യവസായശാലകളുടെ വളർച്ചയ്ക്കു കാരണമായിട്ടുണ്ട്. എൻജിനീയറിങ് വ്യവസായവും ടാട്ടർസ്താനിൽ നിർണായകമായ വളർച്ച നേടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. റഷ്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ട്രക്ക് നിർമ്മാണകേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് ടാട്ടർസ്താൻ. കാമാ നദീതീരത്തെ പുതിയ ജലവൈദ്യുതോല്പ്പാദന കേന്ദ്രത്തിനടുത്താണ് ട്രക്കു വ്യവസായം കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. എണ്ണ നിക്ഷേപങ്ങൾ കണ്ടെത്തിയതോടെ, 1950-കളിൽ സോവിയറ്റ് യൂണിയനിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രമുഖ എണ്ണ ഉത്പ്പാദകരാജ്യമായി ടാട്ടർ മാറി. ഇവിടത്തെ ആൽമേറ്റിവ്സ്ക് (Almetievsk) നഗരത്തിനു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള എണ്ണപ്പാടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് മറ്റ് അയൽരാജ്യങ്ങളിലേക്ക് എണ്ണ കയറ്റുമതി ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട്. ടാട്ടർസ്താനിലെ എണ്ണ വ്യവസായം നിഷ്നെകാംസ്ക് (Nizhnekamsk) നഗരത്തെ ഒരു പെട്രോകെമിക്കൽ കേന്ദ്രമായി വികസിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. കാമാ നദിക്കരയിൽ ആൽമേറ്റിവ്സ്കിനു വടക്കാണ് ഈ നഗരം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
