65 miles southwest, beginning a couple miles before downtown Zanesville, as the highway diverts from I-70 and cuts towards Cincinnati. We pass Somerset (37:35) and Lancaster (53:30) before reaching the city of Circleville, about 25 miles south of Columbus.

Zanesville, Ohio
Zanesville is a city in the county seat of Muskingum County, Ohio. Zanesville was named after Ebenezer Zane, who blazed Zane's Trail ( a pioneer trail from Wheeling, Virginia to Maysville, Kentucky. In 1797 he remitted land as payment to his son in law, John McIntire at the point where Zane's trace met the Muskingum River. With the assistance of Zane, McIntire platted the town, opened a Inn and Ferry by 1799. Zanesville was for a time known as the Pottery Capital. The city's numerous pottery companies produced household items. These are still popular among collectors even today. There were three courthouses. The second county Courthouse served as the Ohio State Capital from 1810 to 1812. The third and current Courthouse was built in 1874. The only part of the Old 1809 Courthouse that remains is it's date stone that hung above the old courthouse doorway.
