Scenic Ananthagiri Hills Forest & Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple Vikarabad, Telangana..

Ananthagiri Hills is located 10 km from Vikarabad, Telangana, India. The hills are the main water source for Osmansagar and Himayathsagar. It is considered as one of the dense forests in Telangana region. Ananthagiri has a famous temple located in this forested region, which is also the birthplace of Musi River. It is situated at a distance of about 80 km from Hyderabad City and a popular destination for trekking and for those who love adventure. It is also considered one of the earliest human habitat areas in South India.

Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple:
According to Skanda Purana it is believed the temple is installed by the Rishi Markandeya in Dwapara Yuga. Attracted by peaceful atmosphere of Ananthagiri hills Markandeya Rishi came here for yoga sadhana. Every day Markandeya used to go to Kasi from Ananthagiri to take a holy bath in the Ganges through a cave due to his yoga sadhana. On one day he was not able to go to kasi as Dwadasi enter the early hours of the morning. Lord gave Darshana in dream and arranged the Ganges to flow to perform a holy bath for Rishi. It is one of the earliest habitat areas. Ancient caves, medieval fort structures and temple shows the antiquity of this area.

Trekking:
There are two trekking trails in the forests, one that begins from the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple and another that begins about 0.5 kilometres from the temple, towards Kerelli.

Hi guys in this video I'm going to Show you the historic temple Anantha padmanabha Swamy Temple #Vikarabad , #Telangana. Anantha padmanabha Swamy Temple|అనంతగిరి|Ananthagiri temple| మార్కండేయ మహర్షి తపస్సు చేసిన ప్రదేశం.
According to Skanda Purana it is believed the temple is installed by the Rishi Markandeya in Dvapara Yuga. Attracted by peaceful atmosphere of Ananthagiri hills Markandeya Rishi came here for yoga sadhana. Every day Markandeya used to go to Kasi from Ananthagiri to take a holy bath in the Ganges through a cave due to his yoga sadhana. On one day he was not able to go to kasi as Dwadasi enter the early hours of the morning. Lord gave Darshana in dream and arranged the Ganges to flow to perform a holy bath for Rishi. Rajarshi Muchukunda after fighting for yeizamars with rakshasas and killing Kalayavana came to Ananthagiri to take rest and went into deep sleep, He got a boon from devandra that who ever spoils the sleep of his can be killed by burning to ashes. [The hills and the cave where Muchukunda rested is also located to Mount Girnar in the state of Gujarat. Kalayavana rakshsa took control of Dwaraka and followed Lord Krishna and Balarama to Ananthagiri and spoil the sleep of Muchikunda and was killed. Lord Krishna gave darshana in the form of Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy to Muchikunda and blessed him to take a permanent place in the world in the form of river. Musi River that originates in these hills, a tributary of Krishna River in the Deccan Plateau region of Telangana that passes through city of Hyderabad is also referred to as Muchukunda River. Sri Anantha Padmanaba Swamy also gave darshana to markandeya and converted into a charka to swamy. About 400 years ago Nizam Nawabs used to come here for hunting and to take rest in the peaceful place of Ananthagiri hills, one day lord Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy came to Nizam dreams and asked him to build the temple for him.The main temple of the lord is constructed by Hyderabad Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan.

The idol in this temple is a Svayambhu (came itself from the earth). The idol is beautiful which is of rock and decorated with sandalwood paste.

Lord Siddhi Vinayaka faces the south side and this is the only temple of lord Ganesha facing the south side across India.

Another specialty of this temple is Lord Ganesha idol height increases every year by an inch. It is believed that so as the height of the Vinayaka increases like the devotees are granted boons by Lord Ganesha.

Natural Statue of Lord Ganesha. The Temple is between Zahirabad and Bidar Highway. The most visited tourist place. The temple is located in a good environment 100 km from Hyderabad.
A good place to have a peaceful Dharsan of Lord Ganesh in Zaheerabad.
