Finally forced myself to sit down and make a short video summary about the trip back in October 2020 to Iturup - this is one of the Kuril Islands in Russia
It was a great trip - we spent 5 days there and it was a good amount of days which allowed even one volcano hike (not too challenging, a day trip)

Amazning airview of the island of Kunashir, the Southern-most island in the Kuril range. The island has 4 active volcanos, of which the biggest is Tyatya (front left.) A little piece of the land seen on the far right is the Japanese island of Hokkaido. I shot the video aboard a Dash-4000 of SAT airlines' service from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Kunashir's administrative center Yuzhno-Kurilsk (a small township in the middle of the 120-km island)

Russia. Sakhalin region. Iturup Island. This is the largest of the Kuril Islands — it exceeds the state of Samoa in area! It stretches from southwest to northeast for almost 200 km, and its width ranges from 7 to 27 km. Iturup is located in the south of the Great Kuril Ridge. It is separated from Kunashir Island by the Catherine Strait, and by the Frieze Strait from Urup Island. This is one of the most famous Kuril Islands.
The island of the southern group of the Great Ridge of the Kuril Islands, the largest island of the archipelago. According to the federal structure of Russia, it is part of the Sakhalin Oblast as part of the Kurilsky district within the framework of the administrative-territorial structure of the region and as part of the Kurilsky Urban District within the framework of the municipal structure in the region. The island's ownership is disputed by Japan, which considers its territory as part of the Namuro subprefecture of Hokkaido Prefecture. According to the most common version, the name of the island of Iturup goes back to the word ethorop, which means jellyfish in translation from the Ainu language.

Остров южной группы Большой гряды Курильских островов, самый крупный остров архипелага. Согласно федеративному устройству России, входит в Сахалинскую область в составе Курильского района в рамках административно-территориального устройства области и в составе Курильского городского округа в рамках муниципального устройства в области. Принадлежность острова оспаривает Япония, которая рассматривает его территорию как часть субпрефектуры Нэмуро префектуры Хоккайдо. По самой распространённой версии название острова Итуруп восходит к слову «этороп», что в переводе с айнского языка означает «медуза».

Fish processing plant on the island of Iturup. On May 11, 1999, a limited liability company Continent was established in the city of Kurilsk, Sakhalin region, located on the island. The fish processing complex was put into operation in 2002. The fish processing complex includes a fish processing shop and a caviar shop. Iturup is the largest island of the Bolshaya Kuril Ridge archipelago in the Pacific Ocean.

私も過去に3度登っていますが、そのうち2回遭遇しています。
果たして今回はヒグマと出会ってしまうのか？
羅臼岳の登山コースは主に2つあります。
一つは登山者の8〜9割りの人が登る岩尾別温泉コース
今回私が登ったのはほとんど登山者がいない羅臼温泉コース
なぜ登山者が少ないかはご覧いただければわかると思います
私が今まで登山した中で1､2を争う非常に過酷なコースです

Rausu is the highest mountain in brown bear encounter rate in Japan.
I have climbed 3 times in the past, but I have encountered 2 of them.
Will we meet a brown bear this time?
There are two main climbing courses on Mt. Rausu.
One is the Iwaobetsu Onsen course, where 80 to 90% of climbers climb.
This time I climbed Rausu Onsen course with almost no climbers
You can see why there are so few climbers.
It's a very tough course
