Although known for being a premiere cherry blossom spot in spring, year round it is a worthwhile destination. The area has a rich and significant history and is also one of the most important centers of Shugendo mountain worship in all of Japan.

It’s a shame to take a trip only to Osaka. Just by going a little bit farther, you can visit many popular cherry blossom spots in Kansai (the region surrounding Osaka, including Nara, Kyoto, and Mie prefectures). You can enjoy not only cherry blossoms, but can visit temples, Kofun (ancient burial mounds), and wonderful places that offer delicious sweets and meals.
