Things to do near Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko | 2 day trip in Kawaguchiko

Mt Fuji is one of Japan’s most iconic symbols and one of the best places to view it is in Fuji-kawaguchiko. We’ll show you some things to do near Mt. Fuji and where you can have a full view of Mt. Fuji. These are just some of the MANY things to do in Kawaguchiko.

We stayed at Villa Ururun Kawaguchiko (not sponsored) and we had the perfect view of Mt. Fuji from our villa. We did a full video tour on that and you should definitely check it out to know what I’m talking about. It was one of the best places we’ve ever stayed in.
—— Japanese Cottage Tour link

Most of our meals were from conbini (7/11) and not shown BUT we ate at this restaurant called Koshu Hot Kanjukuya Kawaguchiko (not sponsored). The food was sooo delicious and we tried Yamanashi’s specialty, which is HOTO. Definitely recommend coming here!

Kawaguchi Asama Shrine is a world heritage cultural heritage located just 4 minutes by car from our cottage. There are cedar trees that are 1200 years old. Not too far away is the Tenku no Torii. Tenku no Torii, also known as Torii in the sky, is a perfect place to capture Mt. Fuji’s beauty behind the torii.

Lake Kawaguchiko is the largest of the Fuji Five Lakes and there are so many things to do in this area! The things we did were the boat excursion and the pedal duck/boat. Other things you can definitely and should do are the Ropeway and visiting the other museums in the area. This area can definitely be a day trip from Tokyo!

Fujiyoshida (Shimoyoshida) is also a great place to visit because it’s super close to Kawaguchiko. We showed you the street where many photographers come to take Mt. Fuji’s photo street view. Check out other places in Fujiyoshida such as Chureito Pagoda and Fuji Q Highland!

Oishi Park is located on the north side of Lake Kawaguchiko and a must visit during Spring, Summer, and Fall. Winter can be dull BUT you get the perfect view of Mt. Fuji and it’s snowcapped peak.

Lastly, we went to Oshino Hakkai, which is my favorite because it just felt so serene and the neighborhood in Oshino reminded me of an older, more traditional Japanese neighborhood. We didn't go to all the ponds, but the view in Oshino Village made up for it.

山梨県 河口湖の桜と富士山(世界遺産) / Cherry blossoms at Lake Kawaguchi and Mt.

Kawaguchi-ko is a lake located in the southern part of Yamanashi Prefecture, one of the so-called Fuji Five Lakes, and is registered as a World Heritage Site as part of the constituent assets of Fujisan, sacred place and source of artistic inspiration.

Kawaguchiko is a dammed lake formed by the volcanic activity of Mt. Fuji, and is located at the lowest elevation (833m above sea level) among the Fuji Five Lakes, and is the second largest of the Fuji Five Lakes in terms of area.

The Kawaguchiko North Shore Walking Trail is a pedestrian-only path along the shore of Lake Kawaguchi, and the route along the northeast shore in particular offers a spectacular view of Mount Fuji while strolling along the lakeside.
In spring, it is a beautiful walking course with cherry blossoms and moss blossoms.

The surrounding area is full of tourist facilities such as Kawaguchiko Round Hall, Kawaguchiko Music Box Forest, and Kawaguchiko Craft Park, making it one of the most popular spots in Kawaguchiko.

Nagasaki Park is located on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi, with a promenade along the shore of the lake in the shape of a peninsula with the land slightly protruding to the south.
It is especially known as the best viewpoint for viewing cherry blossoms, Lake Kawaguchi and Mt. Fuji in spring, and is visited by many photographers when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.

Myokozan Campground is a campground located on a hill slightly north of the shore of Lake Kawaguchi, and is a hidden viewpoint overlooking Lake Kawaguchi and Mt. Fuji.
It is just up the hill to the north from the Oishi Park area on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi, where cherry blossoms and maple trees are planted around a pleasant lawn, making it a great place to view Mt. Fuji in all seasons.

Watch this before you bike around Kawaguchiko & Mt Fuji | Japan Travel Guide | GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP

Mt Fuji and the surrounding lakes have these awesome biking tracks that offer great views of the mountain herself whilst giving those people fortunate enough to visit, a taste of the produce in this rich part of town.

One of the lakes is Lake Kawaguchiko in which has one of the most reputable biking tracks in Japan.

Naturally, we wanted to explore this plus more including the surrounding nature.

It was 38 degrees celcius - in all due honesty - we were surprised that we even got to survive through this day without getting heat stroke though the signs were setting in.

Please watch Kat & Marvin explore this land plus their hints to get you through this place.

A DAY IN KOFU | Kofu, Yamanashi

I finally made it to Kofu, Yamanashi. It was the last stop on my Yamanashi journey and I had one day to see everything.

First up, I went to where Kofu Castle used to be. It's now just a park with some ruins of the castle but there is a great view of the city from the top.

Second, I decided to check out more about Takeda Shingen. He was a daimyo here and his image and name is all over the place. I went to see his statue by the station and shrine.

Finally, I took a bus for almost 50 minutes to Shosenkyo Gorge. I took the ropeway up a mountain to see the view from the top then walked down (part of) the gorge.

Kofu was amazing! It was this blend of rich history and beautiful nature, all under the view of Mt. Fuji.

Much love and happy travels

Japanese traditional village tour at Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nenba

In this video, we take you to a traditional Japanese Village near Lake Saiko in Yamanashi Prefecture. This traditional Japanese village is called Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nenba and has a magnificent view of Mt. Fuji!

It’s an open museum showing reconstructed thatched roof houses. It’s a replica of a village that was destroyed by natural disaster.

Walking through Saiko Iyashi no Sato nenba gives you a feel of Japanese culture, especially with the houses made with thatched roofs.

There are a total of 21 house with thatched roofs that have been remodeled and now are being used for different things. Some of the houses are restaurants, selling Yamanashi’s dish (hoto) and even dango. Other houses are used to sell items such as pottery and crepe-cloth works.

One of my favorite houses was the one with the samurai displays and kimono rental. You can rent a kimono or samurai clothing, but due to covid, they’re not doing it at the moment.

This place is open year round and is especially beautiful during sakura season. This year we went on April 18 and we were just in time for the blooms.

After visiting this place, you can check out the other places to see in Kawaguchiko and Fujiyoshida.
