WHO ARE WE?
We are a small publishing company (Vision) based in Taipei. We produce an English magazine (Travel in Taiwan) introducing you to Taiwan as a travel destination. Read it! Lot of useful information. We also have a website with lots of articles about Taiwan. Visit it! We try to make a video or two every week. Let us know what you think about this channel and what you would like to see about Taiwan. All the best to you!

From Travel in Taiwan magazine 2018-7-8:

Silks Place Taroko
A sumptuous place to spend a Taroko Gorge night is at the refined Silks Place Taroko hotel, where dark-stain wood is the dominant interior theme, smartly complementing the marble-white facade. It’s located at the edge of Tianxiang on a picturesque perch – atop the low-plateau point where the Liwu and Dasha rivers meet before the combined waters rush through the inner gorge for more forceful rock-sculpting. The riverbed here is strewn with massive boulders of widely differing striated artwork – including one of pure marble – and macaques make their way down the steep wooded slopes for a drink in the morning. Though deep in a gorge that is a Mother Nature aesthetic tour de force, a stay at this hotel is time spent in the lap of manmade luxury.
The range of amenities and special activities is too sweeping to cover fully, but a number stand out. There is a full spa, along with two superb pools, one indoor and one outdoor. The latter is on the roof, beside it a Jacuzzi, with both offering a wonderful 360-degree panorama. Indoor and outdoor activities oriented toward both kids and adults are offered. Of special note are the guided tours, Truku-theme weaving sessions, nighttime indigenous dance shows in the lovely inner courtyard and mini-concerts by the rooftop poolside fireplace, and Moonlight Cinema showings by the rooftop pool, with patio loungers as seating.
The restaurant dinner and breakfast buffets have a delicious range of international and Chinese choices, and Retreat Floor (VIP) guests can choose to take breakfast in the sun-drenched rooftop Retreat Lounge, with Eastern/Western set meals. (Rooms, all very large, start at NT$8,000)

Baiyang Trail
The Baiyang Trail begins with a dramatic human-engineering flourish. You dive directly from the roadside into a straight-as-an-arrow 380m-long tunnel (bring a flashlight!) that pierces a mountain from the main gorge to a secondary gorge. At the end of the even-grade 2km section of the trail is a golden prize, which bursts into view upon exiting a tunnel. At a footbridge leaping a deep-cut cleft carved by a waterway seemingly too modest for the task, a lofty twin cataract plunges ethereally downward from vertigo-inducing heights. The trail was constructed as a narrow cliff-hugging road by the Taiwan Power Company in 1984 for use in a later-cancelled hydropower project. There is in fact a further section beyond the present trail, currently closed for safety reasons.

TAROKO NATIONAL PARK ???????? Taiwan: my day tour experience ????⛰️????

Hey everyone! It's me @gogogracie and I'm so so happy to be back editing videos and posting on YouTube. It's been awhile since I posted. This Taiwan trip was awhile back (April).
I've been busy shooting - two feature films and two short films.
The first one is in Cantonese and its called PENDATANG. I play Mei Yun or 'Botak' - the wildcard character of the film- she is a girl filled with rage who shaved her head and joined the militants to take revenge for her sister's death. It's available here:

The other films I play: a young woman who revisits Kuala Lumpur to search for a lost lover, a rich tennis mom, and an AI Robot! To follow my journey as an actor, do follow me on Instagram at:

OMG TAIWANNNNNNN. AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!
????????????????????????????
Taiwan was my first country out of Malaysia in 3 years! It was such an amazing 7-Day Holiday. It was overwhelming as there was SO MUCH to see, eat, shop, smell, look at, experience, take pictures of.
I spent 3 days in Taipei and 1 day in Jiufen before heading to Hualien where I spent 2.5 days. Honestly, one week is not enough for Taiwan and I'm definitely going to go back as I have yet to visit Taichung, Chiayi and Alishan.

TAROKO NATIONAL PARK- Other tips/info
1) Why I decided to join the tour?
- I was traveling solo and didn't have that much time. I also don't have a scooter license. If you are traveling as a group or you have a bike license i recommend using a scooter or renting a car because then you can go on your own time. But if you're like me, and you're also on a budget, this particular tour is really a good one.
2) What other tour would you recommend?
-
(this was the other tour I was considering. It is more expensive though but it looks very promising)
3) What about other trails/hikes?
- I actually really wanted to do the Zhuilu Old Trail hike which has stunning views - you walk really high up on a super narrow trail- and its like Lord of the Rings vibes when the fellowship were all traveling to Mordor, but you need to apply for a permit to hike. An there is a maximum number of hikers allowed per day. I booked one week ahead and they were already booked out by that time so plan early! Here's the link:

Chinese symbolism in the design: The chief of the jury board said that the design reminded him of a verse of the Tang Dynasty poem Pipa Song by Bai Juyi about the wonderful sprinkling sound of a pipa instrument, like pearls, big and small falling on a jade plate. However, the designer Jiang Huancheng says that he did not have the poem in mind when designing the tower.

Skyscraper Tour Shanghai | China Vlog_02

Skyscraper Tour Shanghai | China Vlog_02

After flying a drone at Shanghai Bund this vlog gives a skyscraper tour of Shanghai City. Mega skyscrapers include the Shanghai Tower (2nd tallest in the world and No.1 highest viewing deck), Shanghai World Financial Center Tower (‘The Bottle Opener’), The Oriental Pearl Tower and The Jin Mao Tower. These are some of the most tallest and amazing skyscrapers in the world.

The Shanghai Tower, 632-metre (2,073 ft), 124 stories, which is currently (at time of writing) the 2nd tallest building in the world. It has highest observation deck in the world, higher than Burj Khalifa. American firm, Gensler designed the building, with Shanghainese architect Jun Xia taking the lead on design. Jun Xia said, It does not seek to be the world’s tallest, to be sure, but it certainly aspires to be the tallest green building. LEED® Platinum Certification, though the building's actual carbon footprint will depend on management. The tower collects and reuses rainwater for the heating and air conditioning, and reduces the need for AC by using double-layered glass. This architectural marvel is beautiful with its spiral-shaped design. There are tons of public venues that make the tower an amazing place to spend the day. Hit the Sky Gardens and Sky Museum as well as all the great shops throughout the building. Shanghai Tower has another record-breaking feat to its name--the world's fastest elevator, which takes you from the lobby to the 118th floor in just 55 seconds. That’s 42.8 mph.

The Oriental Pearl Tower, completed in 1994 was the highest structure at that time period in china at 468 m(1,535 feet). It took 4 years to build. An tv antenna at the top broadcasts TV and radio programs andextends the construction by another 118 m (387 ft) to a total height of 468 m (1,535 ft). The building designers were Jiang Huan Chen, Lin Benlin, and Zhang Xiulin. The tower is brightly lit in different LED sequences at night. The tower features 11 spheres, defferent sizes. The two largest spheres, along the length of the tower, have diameters of 50 m (164 ft) for the lower and 45 m (148 ft) for the upper. Three columns, each 9 m (30 ft) in diameter link the spheres. The entire tower is supported by three enormous columns that start underground.

The Shanghai World Financial Center was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by the Mori Building Company, with Leslie E. Robertson Associates as its structural engineers. At 492 metres (1,614.2 ft) its the 9th tallest building in the world and the fourth tallest structure in Mainland China. The highest observation deck is on the 100th floor at 474 m (1,555 ft) high. The obvious feature of the building is this hole at the top. The original design created controversy so the design was then changed to how it is now. Foreigners and Chinese a like informally refer to the building as the bottle opener. Metal replicas of the building that function as actual bottle openers are sold in the tower's gift shop.

The beautiful, Jin Mao Tower is an 93- landmark skyscraper . It is 420.5 metres (1,380 feet) tall and is one of the tallest buildings in the world. Designed by the Chicago firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). Its postmodern form, whose complexity rises as it ascends, draws on traditional Chinese architecture such as the tiered pagoda, gently stepping back to create a rhythmic pattern as it rises.

The Shanghai World Financial Center, The Shanghai Tower and The Jin Mao Tower form the world's first adjacent grouping of three supertall skyscrapers.

Oriental Pearl Tower view, Pudong district, Shanghai, China, Asia

The Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower is a TV tower in Shanghai, China. Its location at the tip of Lujiazui in the Pudong district, by the side of Huangpu River, opposite of The Bund makes it a distinct landmark in the area. It was designed Mr. West. Principal designers are Jiang Huan Chen, Lin Benlin and Zhang Xiulin. Construction began in 1990 and the tower was completed in 1994. At 468 m (1,535 feet) high, it was the tallest structure in China from 1994--2007, when it was surpassed by the Shanghai World Financial Center. It is classified as a AAAAA scenic area by the China National Tourism Administration. The tower is brightly lit in different LED sequences at night. On 7 July 2007, Oriental Pearl Tower was host to the Chinese Live Earth concert. The tower features 11 spheres, big and small. The two largest spheres, along the length of the tower, have diameters of 50 m (164 ft) for the lower and 45 m (148 ft) for the upper. They are linked by three columns, each 9 m (30 ft) in diameter. The highest sphere is 14 m (46 ft) in diameter. The entire tower is supported by three enormous columns that start underground. The tower has fifteen observatory levels. The highest (known as the Space Module) is at 350 m (1148 ft). The lower levels are at 263 m (863 ft) (Sightseeing Floor) and at 90 m (295 ft) (Space City). There is a revolving restaurant at the 267 m (876 ft) level. The project also contains exhibition facilities, restaurants and a shopping mall. There is also a 20-room hotel called the Space Hotel between the two large spheres. The upper observation platform has an outside area with a glass floor. An antenna, broadcasting TV and radio programs, extends the construction by another 118 m (387 ft) to a total height of 468 metres (1,535 ft). The design of the building is said to be based on a verse of the Tang Dynasty poem Pipa Song by Bai Juyi about the wonderful sprinkling sound of a pipa instrument, like pearls, big and small falling on a jade plate. However, the designer Jiang Huancheng says that he did not have the poem in mind when designing the tower. It was the chief of the jury board who said it reminded him of that poem. On April 13, 2010 the antenna at the top of the 468m tower caught fire at around 2 am. The fire was then put out by firefighters. Prior to the fire there were a series of thunderstorms.

Taroko National Park (Chinese: 太魯閣國家公園; pinyin: Tàilǔgé Gúojiā Gōngyuán; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Thài-ló͘-koh Kok-ka Kong-hn̂g) is one of the nine national parks in Taiwan and was named after the Taroko Gorge, the landmark gorge of the park carved by the Liwu River. The park spans Taichung Municipality, Nantou County, and Hualien County and is located at Xiulin Township, Hualien County, Taiwan.

Hualien County (Mandarin Wade–Giles: Hua¹-lien² Hsien⁴; Pīnyīn: Huālián Xiàn; Hokkien POJ: Hoa-lian-koān or Hoa-liân-koān; Hakka PFS: Fâ-lièn-yen; Amis: Kalingko) is a county on the east coast of Taiwan. It is the largest county by area, yet due to its mountainous terrain, has one of the lowest populations in the country. The county seat and largest city is Hualien City.

Most of the population resides in the Huadong Valley, which runs north to south, sandwiched between the Central and Hai'an mountain ranges. Due to the rural nature of the county, Hualien attracts many visitors for its natural environment, which includes Taroko Gorge, Qingshui Cliff, and Qixingtan Beach.
