Witley Court & Gardens: An Epic Burned Down Mansion
Hello everyone! Welcome to my channel, and welcome to my tour of Witley Court & Gardens. Witley Court is an incredible 17th century Italian style mansion near the town of Little Witley that was once home to the Earls of Dudley. It was however burned down in the 1930's but thanks to English Heritage it has been preserved and is not open to visitors year round! Join us as we explore this abandoned burned down mansion!

This video was filmed the day before the third stage of the unlocking process re. Covid. We thought going that day it might be quieter, however, plenty of others had the same idea. More people were at Witley than can be seen in this video as the grounds are quite extensive.
We couldn't go inside the café because of the restrictions at the time, however, we enjoyed coffee and lunch underneath an umbrella and a personal marquee in the rain. You wouldn't believe this filming was done on the same day as we had rain, heavy rain and sunshine. Later on in the day my trusty umbrella and myself did a thank you video to all the wonderful and helpful comments on my Inspector Wexford blocking.
Witley Court is an English Heritage venue. Last night I emailed the Chief Executive of English Heritage as I still haven't heard from their Filming Department about my Portchester Castle documentary. Hopefully it was received and read okay - it was a Monday morning that it would have been visible, I know what people say about receiving emails on a Monday!

Witley Court was one of England's great country houses
Today it is a spectacular ruin,
the result of a disastrous fire in 1937.
It still contain a huge stone fountains.
The restored Peruses and Andromeda fountain,
with even the original high cascades operating,
between April and October
Following the disastrous fire in 1937 the Witley Estate,
including its gardens,fell into long decline.
The vast and rambling remains of the palatial
19th-century mansion are
surrounded by magnificent landscaped gardens.

It was undertaken on day 2 of a Worcestershire self catering cottage holiday in Bewdley in the Heart Of England in the month of June 2011.

A hundred years ago, Witley Court in Worcestershire, UK was one of England's great country houses, hosting many extravagant parties. Today it is a spectacular ruin, the result of a disastrous fire in 1937. Restoration work to the West Wing has made several new rooms accessible to the public.
