Winterset Holiday Weekend
Some of the holiday weekend activities around Winterset, Iowa (population 5,200 friendly folks). The Lighted Parade is just one part of the Festival of Lights on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Small Business Saturday followed, with a sampling of some of the local merchants participating. There were free holiday movie at the Iowa Theatre, free carriage rides around the square--plenty of great deals and fun things to do! The beautiful covered bridges of Madison County were popularized by Clint Eastwood’s movie, The Bridges of Madison County. We had a blast driving down dirt roads, surrounded by cornfields, to find all of the bridges!
