US Route 89 Arizona - (almost) every town along the way - 50 of them!

My US Route 89 Travel Guide:

The final state in the epic US Route 89 road trip is Arizona, and it definitely will not leave you disappointed. I took 89A as opposed to 89 in two different spots and both were spectacular. The first half of the state is as scenic as it gets. You'll run into a few cities in the 2nd half but it's still a very enjoyable trek. Overall, Arizona is one of the most beautiful states in the USA to explore and US Route 89 hits a bunch of great areas!

If you enjoy these videos I would love to hear about it. We look at the best and worst cities, states, towns, and neighborhoods in the United States. Occasionally we do other countries. Most of the time focus on the negative side of locations. That is just what people want to see.
If you only want some happy positive information about a city, town, or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine, rainbows, and a bunch of smoke up your skirt. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will.

Gold Mines and Ghost Towns near Wickenburg - Searching Arizona Abandoned Places

If you're looking for an off-road adventure to some abandoned places in Arizona, you've come to the right place. On this episode I venture into the back country near Wickenburg to see some of the old gold mines and ghost towns. What I discovered is that a few of these abandoned places, such as Vulture Mine, are in the midst of a renaissance. Vulture City, which is right next to Vulture Mine has been completely restored and is now a wonderful tourist attraction, educating visitors on how gold was once mined. The next door mine is fully operational once again. With gold prices so high, people are back on these old claims trying their luck at prospecting and trying to get what the ol' timers left behind.

In addition to these Arizona gold mines and ghost towns, I also went on a wonderful hike in the Hassayampa River Wilderness area. I ventured down a rugged road toward Box Canyon Hideout, only to find that I was above it with no way to reach to canyon floor. I camped out three days exploring this region, come along as I show you want I discovered.

I'd like to thank Raptor Series for loaning me their amazing rig and for sponsoring this video.

Los Caballeros is another beautiful course located just outside of town with a beautiful desert backdrop and plenty of lovely greens. The restaurants downtown and sure to please the palate of most foodies. Cafe’s line the streets boasting delicious greasy spoon offerings like biscuits and gravy and chicken fried steak. Charley's steakhouse tempts you with a bright neon sign beckoning you to try their tasty offerings. There are several Mexican restaurants persening their take on southwest tex mex style food. Your thirst is sure to be quenched with the plethora of bars or “watering holes” ready to serve you. Wickenburg is best visited between October and the end of April. Town hall is lined with Tesla charging stations, if you are in a Tesla you will not have to worry about having plenty of power.

Wickenburg offers endless adventure and fun for the outdoor enthusiast. If you head up Vulture Mine Road you will find miles of trails on Arizona trust land, begging any avid atv, jeep or camper to spend time adventuring in the red desert. Desert sunsets in Wickenburg display unparallelled beauty. Continue up vulture mine road and discover Vulture city ghost town, said to be haunted by those old west cowboys who came before. A school house in the middle of nowhere also exists, ask how to find it. Those who go swear they can see and feel the spirits that haunt the school house. Take some time and hike to the top of vulture peak. The hike is moderate and offers amazing views of the desert and nearby towns. Definitely worth the trek. Arizona Drive through the neighborhoods in the town of Wickenburg

My wonderful wife Thao wanted to see what the surrounding neighborhoods look like in Wickenburg, so we drove around a bit. Wickenburg is a small historic town with a rich culture. Beautiful town with a great community around it. It’s right off the highway, but still has a very remote feel to it. Yet there are fast food restaurants, a nice grocery store, and within 30 minutes of a Costco. What a great place to live…

Wickenburg Arizona Gold Rush Days

Wickenburg Arizona Gold Rush Days. Wickenburg AZ: The West's Most Western Town!

The Wickenburg Arizona Gold Rush days is an annual celebration commemorating the town's history.

The Vulture Mine, is just outside of the city, although not currently operating, it has been converted into a tourist attraction where one can see what a real old west mining operation was like.

It is said that during it's productive days the Vulture Mine produced over 340,000 oz of gold and 260000 oz of silver!

The town of Wickenburg Arizona is just 60 miles west from the bustling Center Hub of Phoenix, and so, makes for a great day trip.

If you're coming out from Phoenix you most likely come out on Highway 60 and pass thru the Morristown area and the San Domingo plasters.

San Domingo Placers Mining DISTRICT HAS THE LARGEST PLACER GOLD PRODUCTION IN MARICOPA CO. GRAVELS AVERAGED 0.032 OZ/CY AU (APPROX. 0.021 OZ/TON) FROM 1870-1962. MOST OF THE AREA'S ACTIVITY TOOK PLACE BETWEEN 1870 AND 1880, BUT THERE WAS CONTINUOUS ACTIVITY FROM 1905-1951.

The Bureau of Land Management controls lots of the land out here and there are extensive active mining claims by many weekend gold prospectors and Arizona gold prospecting clubs.

If you're interested and we can gold prospecting or just seeing and learning about prospecting here in Arizona be sure to visit are very popular gold prospecting blog at:

Yes, I know the title of the blog is California Gold Rush Miner and that's because I was located in San Diego California before moving out to the Peoria Arizona area.

Arizona Drive to Wickenburg A small Historic town just north of Phoenix

Wickenburg Arizona. If you are an outdoorsman, this is a great place to be. Deserts, Canyons, Arroyos, trails for miles and miles for camping, exploring, hunting, fishing and off-roading. The numbers of campers and trailers with toy haulers were incredible throughout Wickenburg. The temperature in Wickenburg is usually at least 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix, so it is a fantastic place to go during the summer heat. It’s a great “Last Stop” for picking up supplies before going off road for the weekend.
