Schellebelle is een dorp en een deelgemeente van Wichelen op de oevers van de Schelde in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen, het was een zelfstandige gemeente tot 1977.
In Schellebelle kan je het oudste veer van het land vinden. Dit veer zou er al geweest zijn in 1210. Door een wijziging van de loop van de Schelde was er een deel van het dorp immers afgesloten van de bewoonde wereld.
Schellebelle is in 2005 verkozen tot de ‘Mooiste dorpsnaam van Vlaanderen’.
In zomer van 2010 werd er door de inwoners een langspeelfilm Schellebelle 1919 gemaakt die 7 weken in de cinemazalen in Vlaanderen vertoond werd.

Schellebelle is a village and borough of Wichelen on the banks of the Scheldt in the Belgian province of East Flanders, it was an independent municipality until 1977.
Schellebelle is home to the oldest ferry in the country. This ferry is said to have been there as early as 1210. A change in the course of the Scheldt meant that part of the village was cut off from the inhabited world.
Schellebelle was voted the 'Most beautiful village name in Flanders' in 2005.
In summer 2010, the inhabitants made a feature film Schellebelle 1919, which was screened for 7 weeks in cinemas in Flanders.

In the midst of the beautiful forests of the popular Belgian province Limburg you will find this beautiful group house. It is situated in a peaceful location. If you stay here, you can also use the facilities offered by the nearby holiday park. There is a large outdoor swimming pool with a slide where the children can enjoy themselves. At the back of the holiday home is a large playground. The shop and cafeteria at the park can also provide you with desired comforts.
The surroundings of the house offer every opportunity for beautiful cycling and walking tours. Tourism Limburg has constructed a beautiful cycle route network here. At 1.5 km from the holiday home, you can cycle in the Bosland area, with as icing on the cake, cycling through the trees! The special bicycle bridge here consists of a double circle with a diameter of 100 metres and is no less than 700 metres long. You gradually rise to a height of 10 metres!
Children's amusement park Bobbejaanland, 't Speelboerderijtje in Leopoldsburg, Pakawi park, the family zoo in Olmen or the beautiful Bokrijk in Genk - With kids you really don't need to be bored here! For adults, Genk is also a great city to visit.
Boom (Belgie) aan de Rupel
Vandaag maakten we een wandeling van maar liefst 16 km. Dat was lang geleden , normaal doen we er een 10 tal.
We vertrokken in Boom, langs de Rupel en wandelden zo naar Terhagen waar we een klein bezoekje brachten. Maar het begon te regenen en te hagelen, dus eventjes geschuild om terug de dijk op te wandelen naar Rumst. Daar gingen we eentje drinken. We wandelden verder en kwamen aan het Herenbeemdenpark . Vandaar zagen we de blauwe fietsbrug liggen en gingen een kijkje nemen. Die staken we over. In de verte zagen we de Romboutstoren van Mechelen pronken. We gingen de brug af en kwamen zo in een prachtig overstromingsgebied. Daar namen we richting Klein Willebroek. Daar aangekomen namen we de veerboot naar Boom. Onze lange wandeling zat erop voor vandaag. We hebben genoten van al die prachige uitzichten . Gaan jullie mee op wandel?

Today, we took a walk of no less than 16 km. That was a long time ago, normally we do about 10.
We started in Boom, along the Rupel and walked to Terhagen where we paid a little visit. But it started to rain and hail, so we took shelter for a while and walked back up the dike to Rumst. There we went for a drink. We walked on and arrived at the Herenbeemdenpark. From there we saw the blue cycling bridge and went to take a look. We crossed it. In the distance we saw the Rombouts tower of Mechelen. We left the bridge and entered a beautiful flood area. There we took the direction of Klein Willebroek. Having arrived there we took the ferry to Boom. Our long hike was over for today. We enjoyed all those beautiful views. Are you coming along for the hike?

De Uitkerkse Polders is één van de laatste grote natuurgebieden die ik nog moest bezoeken met Toerist2290. Het was voor mij tien jaar geleden en de polders blijven een unieke plaats vol kolganzen, smienten, torenvalken en andere vogels! Zeker aan te raden in combinatie met een dagje zee zoals het Zwin!
Wapenstilstand te Ieper - #066 - Miguel Vertelt vanuit de Westhoek
Na al die jaren als gids rond Ieper en in de Westhoek had ik nog nooit de wapenstilstand in Ieper herdacht. Vandaag kwam daar verandering in.

Miguel Bouttry is een Vlaamse schrijver, gids, verteller, vlogger, ... Hij woont in de Franse Morvan, maar steekt af en toe nog eens over naar zijn roots in Vlaanderen: de Westhoek.
