Albemarle , North Carolina is a beautiful city in Stanley County - close to the Uwharrie Mountains. Albemarle is the county seat of Stanley County. Today - the city has a population of little than 16,000. Albemarle is less than a hour east of Charlotte, NC.
The site of modern-day Albemarle - first people was tribes of the hunter-gatherers and mound builders - in which their settlements dated back 10,000 years ago. Later in the 1800s - there was a large wave of settlements from Europe in the area. In 1826 - the post office for Albemarle was established which was the Smith Store at that time. The history of Albemarle is very interesting and read more about it. You won't be disappointed.
The City of Albemarle is named after General George Monck who was the first Duke of Albemarle and one of the original proprietors of the Colony of Carolina.

Whiteville is a city in Columbus County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 5,394 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Columbus County and is the county seat. The city was named in 1810 for James B. White, the original owner of the town site. A post office called Whiteville has been in operation since 1821. In 1950, Whiteville fielded a professional minor league baseball team in the Class D Tobacco State League. The Whiteville Tobs club lasted only one season before disbanding with the entire league.
A QUICKLY Growing Historic South Carolina Small Town Near The Beach
This town has a classic southern small town feel when you go through it’s downtown area. The city for a long time was really small, until recently when everyone started moving to the Myrtle Beach area. Conway’s history goes back a long way as it was one of the first towns settled in the state. The town was first laid out in 1732 with the name of Kingston. A plan was created in 1734, and the first residents arrived in 1735. Fast forward 40 years and there were several battles apart of the revolutionary war were fought in the surrounding area. War General Frances Marion, aka the Swamp Fox, had his troops camp in Kingston on their way to the battle of Black Mingo which took place south of here.
