Wertheim is the most northerly town in the state of Baden-Württemberg. It is situated at the confluence of the rivers Tauber and Main, on the Main's left bank. It borders on the Odenwald hills and the Spessart range to the north across the river Main. Wertheim is located in the Main-Tauber district.
Cologne, Würzburg and Wertheim. The start of the Romantic Road in Germany and out first Stellplatz.
Crossing the border from the Netherlands into Germany in the worst weather we have ever driven in. High winds were rocking the van and causing tree branches to crash to the road in front of us and the torrential rain made it very difficult to see the road. But we made it into Cologne to experience our first Stellplatz.
After a quick trip round Cologne Cathedral we headed for the start of the Romantic road in Würzburg. What an amazing town, the weather was really hot and loads of people were out drinking wing on the old Main Bridge.
The palace is one of the 'must see' places to visit if you go here and it didn't disappoint.
Next on the route was Wertheim, although not strictly on the Romantic Road, we had heard the had a stunning castle which we could park beneath. The Stellplatz was amazing, right by the river and at the foot of the castle. A fairy tale start to our journey.

AmaWaterways Excursion to Wertheim, Germany during Prague to Paris River Cruise on the Main, Rhine and Mosel Rivers documented by travel filmmaker Clint Denn. Wertheim was founded between the 7th and 8th century, however the first settlement was a town called Kreuzwertheim on the right of the river Main. From the early 12th century onwards, a branch of the noble family of the Reginbodons called themselves after the town. After the family of the earls of Wertheim had built a castle on the left bank of the river Main, a settlement developed at the foot of this dominating structure that was called Wertheim. It was mentioned for the first time in 779. In 1192, it was referred to as Suburbium castri Wertheim and in 1200 the town is called oppidium and 1244 civitas.
Count Eberhard of Wertheim reigned from the year 1355 to 1373. 1363 Emperor Karl IV granted him by degree the right to mint coins. The last count of Wertheim was Michael III. He married the oldest daughter of the count Ludwig of Stolberg, Katharina. Michael died without producing a male heir and consequently the county passed on to Ludwig of Stolberg. 1574, after the death of Ludwig, the county was passed on to his son-in-law count Ludwig of Löwenstein.

Genießt den Vlog mit meiner Rapcrew Projekt RG6 zu Wertheim Mitte Juli 2023. Es gibt einige Highlights der Stadt zu sehen sowie einen Auftritt mit der Crew auf der Burg Wertheim!
Wertheim ist eine große Kreisstadt, die nördlichste Stadt Baden-Württembergs (bzw. Badens) und liegt direkt an der Grenze zu Bayern. Die Stadt hat ca. 23 000 Einwohner und liegt an den Flüssen Tauber und Main. Bei einem Spaziergang durch die wunderschöne Altstadt gelangst du zum historischen Marktplatz, zum Engelsbrunnen, zur Stiftskirche St. Marien sowie zum Grafschafts- und Glasmuseum. Shoppen gehen kannst du im Wertheim Village, welches jedoch außerhalb der Stadt liegt. Das Highlight der Stadt ist die Burg Wertheim mit einem wunderschönen Blick auf die Altstadt.
