Exploring Wales - Best of the North [Snowdonia/Waterfalls/Lakes/Villages/Hidden Gems/Castles]

North Wales has some of the most amazing places to see in all of the United Kingdom and in this North Wales video guide we cover all of them. We use lots of drone footage giving you the best possible views of the fascinating landscapes, ocean and nature. We then compile all the footage together to make a Cinematic Travel video for you to enjoy.

We first take our car and enjoy a Wales road trip through Snowdonia National Park taking you to see 3 of Wales' most beautiful waterfalls. The first being Aber falls, the second Swallow Falls and the Third Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall. All three represent a part of Wales' natural beauty and are some of the best waterfalls in the UK.

We then head over to SouthStack Light house to watch the sunset where we find some of Wales' facinating coastline and rock formations and take in the lovely ocean view.

After watching the sunset we take you to another sunset location to an amazing Welsh Lake called Lake Vyrnwy. This lake happens to be the best lake in Wales and offers an amazing viewing spot while enjoying a drink at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel and Spa.

Now we have a really special part of Wales to show you. The Italian themed village Portmeirion. This village is by far the most unique village in all the United Kingdom due to its colourful buildings and Italian theme making you believe you could be in Italy.

As we continue to drive through Snowdonia national park we find the secret infinity pool which has grown popularity through Wales' instagram posts. This is a perfect places for some Romance and to get some amazing pictures of yourself in the pool with the sun reflecting off the huge mountains in the background.

After a hike up to the hidden pool we take a break and get some Welsh Tea at one of the most famous tea houses in Wales. The Tu Hwnt i'r Bont Tea House not only make a special effort to look so beautiful and cosy but they also make outstanding cakes along with excellent Tea and Coffee.

Now we show you the highest aqueduct in the world. The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is a truly amazing man made attraction because you can enjoy walking on it while looking out to the stunning Welsh Valleys and even take your own boat or a tour across it.

We finish up the video with Castles. We highlight three of the best Castles to visit which include Caernarfon Castle, Powis Castle and gardens and Conwy Castle. All three Castles are rich in Welsh History and wonderful places to visit in Wales.

Lastly you will see the lovely accommodation I stayed in during my Wales adventure. A cosy cabin in the lovely Wales countryside.
If you want to stay here then more information about it is on the our travel website below.

10 Worst Towns to Live in Wales

What are the worst towns to live in Wales? We don’t want to make it boring. Otherwise, we would have listed all the towns in Wales in the order of how they are considered good. Even if we could do that, some people may view such a listing as conjectural. Towns considered good by a reviewer may be seen as bad by another. But then, for the sake of this production, let’s assume that all the towns in Wales are good. But they can’t all be equally good. If some had higher degrees of goodness, yes, they are better. And if some towns are better than others, the logic follows that some are worse. On that positive note, let’s discuss the 10 worst towns to live in Wales.

10. Ebbw Vale
Ebbw Vale, the town at the head of the valley which is formed by the Ebbw Fawr tributary of the Ebbw River is the largest town in Blaenau Gwent county borough. Its direct access to the A465 Heads of the Valleys trunk road doesn’t make it a good place to live in Wales. The town bordering the Brecon Beacons National Park Ebbw Vale isn’t economically viable with the second-lowest mean salary in Britain. In fact, for the people to survive, 5 food banks are operating in the community. This has also affected the town educationally. This is indicated by its having the worst GCSE results in Wales. Meanwhile, Ebbw Vale is the town with the cheapest home price in England and Wales as no one would be willing to buy a home in a place very bad to live in.
9. Pontypool
As we think about Pontypool, we’re filled with the emotion of love for the residents of the people. No, this doesn’t mean we love to live among them or envy their situation. We only salute their resilience that makes them remain in a town without no places to visit, no nightlife, no restaurants and bars, and with zero social life. This administrative center of the county borough of Torfaen has nothing like a sense of community. Ironically, there’s no privacy in this town as almost everyone will notice your presence or absence. Your financial status is in public knowledge. Care needs to be taken in such a town to select a date if you don’t want to have an incestuous amorous affair.
8. Llangefni
The case of Llangefni, the county town of Anglesey, whose name in Welsh means meaning “church on the River Cefni,” is pathetic. The town which is home to the principal offices of the Isle of Anglesey County Council and the second largest settlement in that county has too many bad reviews. But to stay on a kinder side, we would side with those who consider it one of the worst Welsh towns to live because of the number of old people in the town. The town is actually gradually taking up the appearance of old peoples’ homes as it has a higher percentage of older people. That should tell you that the town is boring and is economically disadvantaged. The town’s unemployment rate is higher than the national average.
7. Port Talbot
What image does the name of the town, Port Talbot evoke? If you choose to turn a blind eye to the negatives, you are likely to see a town and community of the home of one of the biggest steelworks in the world. That is cute. But that economic opportunity which covers a large area of land, dominating the southeast of the town does not come without a cost for the town. The environmental pollution this has caused for the town some 13 kilometers from Swansea has made it one of the worst places to live. The town is filled with the stench from this and other dirt dominating the place.
6. Llantwit Major
Our attention is now on Llantwit Major, a community on the Bristol Channel coast. This is one of 4 towns in the Vale of Glamorgan. The community located about 7.2 kilometers from Cowbridge, 14 kilometers from Bridgend, 16 kilometers from Barry, and 24 kilometers from Cardiff has not allowed these nice locations to rub off on it. It is one of the 10 worst places in Wales on this list for anyone who cares about safety. The crime rate there is rather on the high side and this is obviously inimical a good living. We would recommend living in any other place in Wales before mentioning Llantwit Major.

Places to see in ( Welshpool - UK )

Welshpool is a town in Wales, historically in the county of Montgomeryshire, but currently administered as part of the unitary authority of Powys. The town is situated 4 miles (6 km) from the Wales–England border and low-lying on the River Severn; its Welsh language name Y Trallwng literally means the marshy or sinking land. Welshpool is the fourth largest town in Powys.

In English it was initially known as Pool but its name was changed to Welshpool in 1835 to distinguish it from the English town of Poole. In English it was initially known as Pool but its name was changed to Welshpool in 1835 to distinguish it from the English town of Poole. The Long Mountain, which plays as a backdrop to most of Welshpool, once served as the ultimate grounds for defence for fortresses in the times when the town was just a swampy marsh. Welshpool served briefly as the capital of Powys Wenwynwyn or South Powys after its prince was forced to flee the traditional Welsh royal site at Mathrafal in 1212. After 1284 Powys Wenwynwyn ceased to exist.

St Mary's Church is a Grade I listed building. The original church dated from about 1250, there are remains of this church in the lower courses of the church tower. The nave was rebuilt in the 16th century, and the whole building was substantially restored in 1871. The 15th century chancel ceiling may have come from Strata Marcella Abbey, about five miles away, and a stone in the churchyard is said to have been part of the abbot’s throne. A memorial in the church commemorates Bishop William Morgan, translator of the Bible into Welsh, who was the vicar from 1575 to 1579.

The Mermaid Inn, 28 High Street, was very probably an early 16th-century merchant’s house, placed on a burgage plot between the High Street and Alfred Jones Court. The timber-ramed building has long storehouse or wing to the rear. The frontage was remodelled c. 1890, by Frank H. Shayler, architect, of Shrewsbury. Early illustrations of the building show that prior to this it had a thatched roof and that the timbering was not exposed. There is a passage to side with heavy box-framing in square panels, with brick infill exposed in side elevation and in rear wing. The frontage was exposed by Shayler to show decorative timber work on the upper storey. An Inn by the 19th century when it was owned by a family named Sparrow.

Welshpool railway station is on the Cambrian Line and is served by Arriva Trains Wales. The town is also the starting point of the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, a narrow-gauge heritage railway popular with tourists, with its terminus station at Raven Square. The light railway once ran through the town to the Cambrian Line railway station, but today Raven Square, located on the western edge of the town, is the eastern terminus of the line.

( Welshpool - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Welshpool . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Welshpool - UK

Welshpool

Although containing much Georgian architecture, Welshpool isn’t the prettiest town to behold, yet explore it in depth and one will find little gems of interest. Lloyd George famously once said, “Welshpool is the gateway to paradise”, yet an unknown journalist wasn’t so kind being less lyrical by saying, “A thoroughly Welsh town with the inhabitants speaking the ancient British language”. Paradise it may not be but Welsh it certainly is and well worth the effort to explore.
As with many English and Welsh towns they have a troubled past … Welshpool having had its fair share. For a brief period, Welshpool was the capital of Powys when in 1212, after seeking help from the English crown following conflict from their enemies, were able to restore the Wenwynwyn dynasty to their lands.

Churches of Wales: Powys (Season 1: Episode 3; Llanfair Caereinion, Guilsfield, Welshpool, Berriew)

Churches of Wales - Powys - Season 1 Episode 3 made by the Buildings Collection, 21/07/2022.
Welcome to the Churches of Wales series, where I look at churches in Wales that are part of the Church in Wales and Covenanted Churches of Wales (I will look at some churches part of the Church of England if the settlement is situated in Wales). My research is listed at the end of this video. I use a text-to-speech voice in my videos because I prefer not to use my real voice, and yes I know the animated character will make people ask Why not show your real self in these episodes but I prefer to stick to my unique style of these videos because I feel uncomfortable showing my real self in these videos too. With that said, this is the third episode of the Churches of Wales series. I will look at the churches situated in and around Llanfair Caereinion and Welshpool, mainly the churches that are situated south and west of those settlements.
