What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

What are the crap towns in England? The name England evokes pride, and living in England on its own, in the UK for that matter, is something to be proud of. However, it is not all English towns that you can and should be proud of. Some places are considered ‘crap towns’ in England. Please note that this position doesn’t originate from us. It is from observation of those living in those towns in England and those who have visited. And those who are living in these towns agree that theirs are among the worst towns to live in England. Yet, we can’t find any ground to refute their position based on our private findings. In this video, you will see the towns that folks refer to as the 10 ‘crap towns’ in England.
10. Blackburn
We open this discussion in a large industrial town of Blackburn located in Lancashire. It’s north of the West Pennine Moors and on the southern edge of the Ribble Valley. Blackburn is just 8 miles east of Preston and also 20 miles northwest of Manchester. The mere consideration of its location alone could give some people an idea of the reason for its being labeled as one of the ‘crap towns’ in England.
Beyond that, however, pieces of ratings Blackburn is been given in this recent past are bad. Not long ago, the author of a popular report named it one of the most segregated towns in Britain. We dare add that the tough riot is one of the results of idleness, wants, and general dissatisfaction with life reflected in how people throng turn to street begging. You’ll see youngsters bunking off school and harassing passersby for money to be used in buying a cheeseburger.
9. Oldham
Not many people will expect this old town of Oldham which is also the administrative and authority center of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham to be described as a ‘crap town.’ But what does the reality on the ground portray about this large town in Greater Manchester? It shows that the town which is about 5 miles southeast of Rochdale and 6 miles northeast of Manchester is actually one of the worst towns to live in the UK. Don’t let us relate want we ourselves have found.
Some feel that the town lacks all culture and sophistication that can be emulated.
8. Castleford
“A trip to Castleford is a real eye-opener . . . and you need to keep your eyes open because if you dare to close them, they’d have your wallet faster than you could say” said a voter who voted Castleford one of the ‘crap town’ in the UK. Coming back home in England, a town with this recognition is certainly one of the crap towns in England. This town in the City of Wakefield within the county of West Yorkshire has always got bad reviews whenever it is to be discussed.
This low standard in this town may be due in part to its being a town of kith and kin. Sentimental attachments to relationships are likely to come in the way of standardization and adherence to the due process. This Wakefield’s largest town was also rued thus “you have to wonder whether the essence of chavdom stems from bad breeding, or in the case of Castleford, possible interbreeding.”
7. Blackpool
It might take a while before Blackpool get itself off a list like this. It is a consensus member in the rank of the ‘crap towns’ in the UK. We have also seen it mentioned in several lists of the worst towns to live in England and the UK. Blackpool is also on and off of lists of the most depressing towns to live in the UK. Why then is it still boasting of being the entertainment capital of the North it claims to be when a stratum of the society actually sees it as one of the most boring places to live in the UK?
A reviewer said of this town: “While in Blackpool all you smell is weed, McDonald's, KFC - you may think it's a jolly seaside resort with candy floss and donkeys but it's a scum-bucket for the transients who come here to draw benefits in a holiday resort instead of in an inner city.” Is that not what you would expect of a place described as a ‘crap town’ in England?

Kettering is a town in Northamptonshire, England, about 81 miles north of London and 15 miles from Northampton. Kettering is mainly situated on the west side of the River Ise, a tributary of the River Nene which meets at Wellingborough. Originally named Cytringan, Kyteringas and Keteiringan in the 10th century, the name Kettering is now taken to mean 'the place (or territory) of Ketter's people (or kinsfolk).
Kettering is twinned with Lahnstein, in Germany and Kettering, Ohio, in the United States. Being part of the Milton Keynes South Midlands (MKSM) study area along with other towns in Northamptonshire, the town of Kettering is due to get around 6,000 additional homes mainly to the east of the town. Kettering , like other towns in the area, has a growing commuter population as it is located on the Midland Main Line railway, which has fast InterCity trains directly into London St Pancras International taking around 1 hour. This gives an interchange Eurostar services to Continental Europe.
The A14 skirts the west and south of the town, links the town with the A45 dual carriageway, M1 and M6 motorways. The A6003 links Kettering to Corby. The A43 links Kettering with Corby and the county town of Northampton and the A509 ( Kettering / Wellingborough Road ) links Kettering with Wellingborough. Rail services operated by East Midlands Trains depart every 30 minutes from Kettering to St Pancras International railway station, with an average journey time of 59 minutes.
Wicksteed Park is an amusement park in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. The park opened in 1921. It is the second oldest theme park in the UK; the oldest is Blackgang Chine on the Isle of Wight. It is located 2 miles (3.2 km) from the A14 and is signposted from the M1 & A1 and located near the Midland Main Line between London and Sheffield.

What are the most dangerous towns to live in England? While burglary might not be the crime with the highest rates in England, it is worthy of consideration when deciding the town to live in. Burglary in this case has been defined as a criminal act of entering a building without permission, or just unlawfully with intent to steal valuable properties or commit some felony. It is different from all other crimes that rob a person of his property such as car snatching, theft from the person, pilferages, and other kinds of robberies. You have reasons to be worried about living in a town that further exposes you to this kind of crime. We, therefore, present in this video the 10 most dangerous towns to live in England for burglaries.
10. Blackpool
Blackpool would always find itself on this kind of list, as the most dangerous major town in Lancashire. In fact, out of the 236 villages, towns, and cities in Lancashire, it is the second most dangerous. In 2021, the overall crime rate in Blackpool was 146 crimes per 1,000 workday people. This is 87 percent higher than Lancashire's crime rate which was 77 per 1,000 residents.
Focusing specifically on burglary, it is 45 percent more dangerous than Lancashire as a whole. While the current burglary rate in Blackpool is 6.19 crimes per 1,000 residents with 902 burglaries reported, the rate for Lancashire as a whole is 4.28. Blackpool burglary rate in 2017 was 4.99 per 1,000 people, 5.95 in 2018, 7.16 in 2019, and 8.54 in 2020.
9. Burnley
We shift attention to Burnley, a town in Lancashire. It is the second most dangerous major town there. It is also among the top 5 most dangerous 236 villages, towns, and cities in Lancashire. In 2021, the overall crime rate in Burnley was 118 crimes per 1,000 people. You can be sure that the high rate of burglary in the town has an effect on that rate.
The Burnley burglary rate is 60 percent more than the rate in Lancashire in 2022. A total of 571 burglaries have been reported giving a rate of 6.85 per 1,000 persons. In 2017, the rate was 5.2, it was 5.99 in 2018, 8.92 in 2019, and 9.83 in 2021. We don’t have the rates for the year 2020.
8. Wigan
This is a large town formerly was within the historic county of Lancashire. Located in Greater Manchester, on the River Douglas, Wigan is midway between Manchester and Liverpool, situated at 25.7 kilometers and 27 kilometers respectively to both cities. The town, which is the largest settlement in its metropolitan borough, has a high rate of burglary. In its postcode area in 2018, a source calculated its burglary rate to be 9.1. That rate was 122 percent of the national burglary crime rate. In 2017, the rate was 5.23. It was 6.47 in 2020 and 6.69 in 2021.
7. Oldham
Oldham is another large town in Greater Manchester. It’s amid the Pennines and between the Irk and Medlock rivers, 8.5 kilometers southeast of Rochdale and 11.1 kilometers of Manchester. This large town is the administrative center of its metropolitan borough.
Like Rochdale its neighbor, Oldham is one of the 10 most dangerous towns to live in England for burglary. Since 2018, the average crime rate in the Oldham postcode area has been 11.7 per annum per 1000 workday people. This rate is 157 percent of the national crime rate. Reports show that burglary crime makes up 7.2 percent of all crimes in the postcode area. In 2017, the rate in the Oldham township was 7.31. It was 7.21 in 2018 and 5.34 in 2021.

Wellingborough Walk: Town Centre【4K】
Located in the county of Northamptonshire, and around 30 miles southeast of Leicester, is the town of Wellingborough.
The history of Wellingborough stretches back to the six century AD or earlier. In Saxon times it was known as 'Wendeling burh', meaning 'stronghold of Wændel's people', where Wændel was a Saxon chieftain. In the Domesday Book of 1086 it is recorded as 'Wendleburie'.
In 1201 King John granted Wellingborough a market charter. Industry in the town over the centuries has included footwear, malting/brewing and iron ore quarrying. The town is surrounded by five wells. These proved popular with the early Stuart nobility, including Charles I who visited Wellingborough in 1628. The five wells appear on the town's coat of arms, harking back to its brief stint as a spa town.
In 1738 a great fire broke out in Wellingborough. According to reports at the time, it started at an oat drying kiln on the west side of Silver Street. More than 200 buildings were destroyed. Neighbouring towns donated money to aid in the aftermath, with its largest donation being 300 guineas from Northampton.
In 1845 the first railway station opened in Wellingborough. This was known as Wellingborough London Road, and was on a line connecting Northampton to Peterborough. A second station opened in 1857, originally called Wellingborough Midland Road. This is the town's current station, and is situated on the Midland Main Line with direct connections to London St Pancras to the south and Corby to the north. The original station from 1845 closed in the 1960s as part of the Beeching cuts. Trains to London take just under an hour, making Wellingborough a viable commuter town for those working in the capital, although season tickets are naturally pricier than other towns further south.
In 1943 Wellingborough Zoo Park opened. The original entry price was 7 old pence. It exhibited a wide array of animals including lions, tigers, bears, panthers and penguins. By the late 1960s the zoo was under pressure from the RSPCA, and was eventually forced to close in 1970 following an incident where a man broke into the zoo and was mauled by a leopard, losing part of his arm. The area where the zoo once stood features in the walk, just off Sheep Street before the 18-minute mark.
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke was born in Wellingborough.

I live stream, everyday at 12.30 mid day UK GMT time scale. I upload as often as I can, because I have a job in a supermarket. I upload six videos a week.You will be notified when I upload.
