Germany's Hidden Gem - A Visit to Warburg Germany - Travel Germany
On this episode, we visit Warburg, Germany, a town in eastern North Rhine-Westphalia, dating to the 10th century. The town is full of circa 1600s half-timbered buildings and still retains some of its medieval defenses. In the video we walk around the town and visit two churches that date to the medieval era, Saint John the Baptist church and Saint Marien Catholic Church. Join us as we visit Warburg.

Germany: A short walk in the Town of Warburg
Warburg: The main town, consisting of the Old Town (Altstadt) and the New Town (Neustadt) and bearing the same name as the whole town, is a hill town.
While the Old Town lies in the Diemel Valley, the New Town rises on the heights above the Diemel.
The cityscape is characterized by historical buildings, stone and half-timbered houses and the location on a ridge.
Warburg is also known as the Rothenburg of Westphalia due to the largely still existing city wall and city towers.
The city fortifications, built in the 14th century, have been partially preserved with the remains of the medieval city walls of both cities, five defensive towers and two city gates and are one of the main attractions for tourists.
Town Hall lies between the Old and the New Town in Warburg, it is built in 1568.
The Sackturm was built in 1443 and the Sacktor was built about 1300.

You will see the Spree River, busy James-Simon Park, which is close to Hackescher Markt, and the historic heart of Berlin: The Museum Island, one of the most visited sights of Germany's capital. This tour ends in front of the Berlin Cathedral. As Museum Island includes all of Spree Island north of the Unter den Linden, the Berliner Dom is also located here, near the Lustgarten. To the south, the reconstructed Berlin Palace houses the Humboldt Forum museum and opened in 2020. Since German reunification, the Museum Island has been rebuilt and extended according to a master plan. In 2019, a new visitor center and art gallery, the James Simon Gallery, was opened. James Simon Park is located in Berlin's Mitte district of the same name. It is named after the Berlin entrepreneur James Simon. The protected green area is located in a popular nightlife and strolling district of Berlin-Mitte. With 3.9 Million inhabitants Berlin is the most populous city of the European Union. It is surrounded by the state of Brandenburg, and contiguous with Potsdam, Brandenburg's capital. The two cities are at the center of the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region, which is Germany's third-largest metropolitan region after the Rhine-Ruhr and Rhine-Main regions.
