Places to see in ( Bebington - UK )

Places to see in ( Bebington - UK )

Bebington is a small town and electoral ward within the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, in Merseyside, England. Historically part of Cheshire, it lies 5 miles south of Liverpool, close to the River Mersey on the eastern side of the Wirral Peninsula. Nearby towns include Birkenhead and Wallasey to the north-northwest, and Heswall to the west-southwest. Bebington railway station opened in 1838 and is situated on the Wirral Line of the Merseyrail network.

The electoral ward, which includes the original village centres of Higher Bebington and Lower Bebington, had a total resident population of 13,720 at the 2001 Census. increased to 15,768 at the 2011 Census. Some definitions of Bebington include adjoining areas such as Port Sunlight (an early planned factory town), New Ferry, Spital and Storeton. The former municipal borough of Bebington, a local authority between 1937 and 1974, also included within its boundaries Bromborough, Eastham, Raby, Thornton Hough and Brimstage, which now fall within the electoral wards of Bromborough, Eastham and Clatterbridge.

According to a 2015 study commissioned by Royal Mail from the Centre for Economic and Business Research, Bebington's postcode area, CH63, is the most desirable in England in which to live and work. The study found that the area had the ideal balance of housing close to places of work, good schools and high employment.

The name Bebington is derived from the Anglo-Saxon meaning the Village of Bebba, probably a Saxon chief or landowner. In 1801, Bebington was a small country hamlet with a population of only 273, situated on the main road connecting Chester and Birkenhead, and then via ferry to Liverpool. Up to 30 horse-drawn coaches would pass by each day. Stone quarried at Bebington was used for the construction of Birkenhead Town Hall, some of the villas around Birkenhead and Rock Parks and most famously of all the Empire State Building in New York City.

Bebington is on the eastern side of the Wirral Peninsula, approximately 10 km (6.2 mi) south-south-east of the Irish Sea at New Brighton, about 7.5 km (4.7 mi) east-north-east of the Dee Estuary at Gayton and less than 2 km (1.2 mi) west-north-west of the River Mersey at New Ferry. The area is situated at an elevation of between 20–60 m (66–197 ft) above sea level.

The Wallasey Hovercraft

In 1960 British United Airways was formed to operate a passenger service between Rhyl and Wallasey. A VA-3 Vickers Armstrong craft of 54 feet in length and was built in Southampton to the Mersey.

It was intended that the service would involve 12 crossings daily (six each way at mainly 90 minute intervals) and operate on six days of every week, with Tuesday being the exception.
on the morning of July 20th, a large crowd had gathered to see the hovercraft make her first passage of the 17 miles across the waters to Wallasey. On board were 24 passengers, together with two mailbags, containing a total of 8,000 items, many of which had been marked with a commemorative stamp for the occasion. The journey (expected to take 25 minutes) took a little longer than anticipated and 32 minutes elapsed before the hovercraft docked at Leasowe Common, Wallasey, having completed its run at an average speed of 28 knots (32 mph).

The Wirral channel had a variety of Wirral Videos including, 'Hidden Wirral', ' Wirral Railways' and Sport. All filmed on the Wirral Peninsula.

The Peninsula includes towns such as
Birkenhead, Wallasey, Liscard, Moreton, Hoylake, West Kirby, Heswall, Neston, Eastham, Ellesmere Port, Brombrough, Bebington, Oxton, Tranmere

Liverpool Has Beaches? - OMG I Was Shocked!

Liverpool has BEACHES! Yes and they are beautiful With miles of coastline, you’re never far from a beach in Liverpool. Come with me on a tour of the BEST beaches in Liverpool. From the marine lake at West Kirby, to the astonishing Antony Gormley statues at Crosby, heading to the beach
is a must on a sunny hot day!
Highlights include - West Kirby
At one end of West Kirby beach is sand dunes whilst at the other its sand flats and right in the centre is the popular marine lake. Grab an ice cream or a cup of coffee while you explore the 300 metres of coastline, or watch the water sports on the lake. When the tide is out, and it’s safe to do so, you can walk to Hilbre Island, a nature reserve usually cut off by the tide. If you’re lucky, you might spot seals! Paddle, bathe or just walk the promenade for a relaxing day out.

Crosby
Crosby Beach is the permanent home of “Another Place” a sculpture by Antony Gormley which sees 100 cast iron life size sculptures spread out across three kilometres looking out to the horizon. Often dressed by visitors (you might see a football scarf or two) it’s a striking display. The beach itself is non-bathing and visitors need to stay within 50 metres of the promenade. As well as the artwork this beach offers beautiful views out to sea, to Wirral and North Wales. It’s also the starting point for the 22 mile Sefton Coastal Path, great for biking.

New Brighton and Wallasey Beach
Often described as a quintessential seaside town, New Brighton was once one of the most fashionable holiday spots in the country. It still offers a great day out along the beach. The Fort Perch Rock was built as a coastal defence for the Port of Liverpool and now remains as a museum and music venue. The lighthouse still remains along the coast as well.

A little further along is Wallasey Beach, a stunning sandy stretch of coastline which is a popular bathing spot. Kite surfers can be seen on the waves and there’s plenty of free parking. It’s also a dog-friendly beach so the whole family can enjoy a day out.

Liverpool !! Beautiful City In England ! UK Trip 2022 !

#Liverpool #UnitedKingdom #UKTrip2022

Liverpool is a maritime city in northwest England, where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea. A key trade and migration port from the 18th to the early 20th centuries, it's also, famously, the hometown of The Beatles.
Liverpool is built on low hills, with the 70 meter high Everton Hill being the highest. The Liverpool urban area extends to Bootle and Crosby in the Sefton area to the north, and to the Huyton and Prescot quarters in the Knowsley area to the east. Liverpool faces Wallasey and Birkenhead across the River Mersey to the West. Liverpool city center is located approximately 8 kilometers from Liverpool Bay and the Irish Sea.

Liverpool is administered by Liverpool City Council, one of 5 Councils within the Merseyside Metropolitan Area. Liverpool is one of the main cities in England and has the `fifth largest population' with a population of 441,477 in 2002, and for Merseyside conurbation, the population reached 1,362,026

Liverpool residents are called Liverpudlians and nicknamed Scousers, which refers to 'scouse', a steamed dish. Scouse is now more associated with the Liverpool accent.

Guys, today I'm #traveling to #liverpool, so from Manchester I took the train to Liverpool to see the beautiful city of Liverpool, and visited The Beatles Story as well as #anfield the stadium of #liverpoolfc.

Places to see in ( West Kirby - UK )

Places to see in ( West Kirby - UK )

West Kirby is a town on the north-west corner of the Wirral Peninsula in Merseyside, England, at the mouth of the River Dee. To the north-east lies Hoylake, to the east Grange and Newton, and to the south-east Caldy.

The old village lay around St. Bridget's Church, but the town today is centred on West Kirby railway station, which is about 1 km away. The town has a Victorian promenade, flanked by the West Kirby Marine Lake that permits boats to sail even at low tide. The original wall was built to create the lake in 1899 but suffered a catastrophic leak in 1985. A new lake was constructed on the site which is wider than previously and allows better sporting opportunities. The Hoylake and West Kirby War Memorial is a notable local landmark, designed in 1922 by the British sculptor Charles Sargeant Jagger, who was responsible for a number of war memorials around the world, including the Royal Artillery Memorial at Hyde Park Corner in London.

West Kirby was a township and parish within the Wirral Hundred. It became part of Hoylake West Kirby civil parish and Hoylake Urban District in 1894. The population was 148 in 1801, 435 in 1851 and 4,542 in 1901. On 1 April 1974, West Kirby was absorbed into the newly created Metropolitan Borough of Wirral as part of local government reorganisation in England and Wales. At that point, West Kirby ceased to be in Cheshire for administrative purposes and became part of the new administrative county of Merseyside.

West Kirby lies at the north-western corner of the Wirral Peninsula. West Kirby is situated on the eastern side of the mouth of the Dee Estuary, and approximately 8 mi (13 km) west of Liverpool. Hilbre Island is approximately 1 mi (1.6 km) offshore from West Kirby, at the mouth of the Dee Estuary. St Bridget's Church is West Kirby's Church of England parish church, and the chancel of the present church dates from around 1320. St Andrew's Church is West Kirby's second Church of England church, originally built as a chapel of ease for St Bridget's, gaining its own parish in 1920. St Agnes' Church is the local Roman Catholic church.[11] West Kirby also has a United Reformed church, which dates to 1890, and a Methodist church which dates to 1904.

The town itself contains Ashton Park and a starting point of the Wirral Way, which follows the trackbed of the former Birkenhead Railway branch line from Hooton. Sandlea Park lies in the centre of the town, a short walk from the railway station. Coronation Gardens is located between the southern end of the promenade between South Parade and Banks Road. There are various other small parks and bowling greens situated around the town. Another popular activity is to walk out to the islands of Little Eye, Middle Eye and Hilbre Island at low tide. The promenade, beach and the walk to the war memorial allow an excellent panoramic view of part of the North Wales coastline.

Grange Road, the main thoroughfare of West Kirby, is situated on the A540 road. The B5141, starting at the Dee Lane junction with Grange Road, joins West Kirby with Caldy via Banks Road, Sandy Lane and Caldy Road. West Kirby railway station is the western terminus of Merseyrail's Wirral line, with return services to Liverpool, Southport, Ormskirk, Liverpool Airport and Chester.

( West Kirby - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of West Kirby . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in West Kirby - UK

UK Staycation - we visit Liverpool, take a Ferry Cross the Mersey and stay in Staybridge Suites

We give some ideas of what to do in Liverpool and where to stay in Liverpool.
0:00 Intro
0:50 Ferry Cross The Mersey
2:40 Superlambananas
4:45 The Beatles
7:08 Stabridge Suites

This is the first of our UK staycation videos and we start in our favourite UK city - Liverpool. Obviously The Beatles are a big part of Liverpool so they are there at some points! Also Billy Fury. This video sees us take a Ferry Cross The Mersey (as Gerry & The Pacemakers sang), take a look in Beatles gift shop and take a look around the Staybridge Suites which was a great place to stay in Liverpool as it was so close to the Royal Albert Dock as well as a short walk to Liverpool City Centre

Take a look at our other travel content at: @OceanHops

So for the start of our uk staycation in our favourite city in the UK,
SIAN -Best city, yeah ME - Liverpool. So we'll do a few things and we'll just amalgamate them into one video maybe, depending how much we do we'll do.... SIAN - yeah you might get too out of it ME - do a few touristy things, put them together as a compilation because we're here for four nights in total. So see how the mop flops!
So we're going on a ferry across the Mersey. Where have I heard that before?
During the cruise you will see the UNESCO world heritage waterfront and some of Liverpool and Wirral's most famous landmarks including the Three Graces, Wallasey Town Hall, the Mersey tunnels ventilation shafts.......[music]
You see quite a few of these around the place - lambananas, half lamb
half banana
if you didn't guess lambananas and they're all uniquely painted It's a music one there is it? SIAN - yeah it's A Flock Of Seagulls, I can't remember who's on it now On the front side ME - with the Chandler Bing hair? SIAN - yes It's Holly Johnson that is there i think is it?
SIAN - Could be. ME - oh yeah it says there - Frankie Goes To Hollywood Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark and Echo and The Bunnymen The Real Thing, Big In Japan, Def
School, La's and China Crisis
[busker singing 'Here Comes The Sun']
No I took some out! I said you're rubbish, give me the cash,
[laughing]
No, he's very good, very good
I had it wrong - they're not lambananas, they're superlambananas.
We've done The Beatles Story twice no need to do it again. Is it...no three times actually i think we've probably done it three times
It's worth a visit if you haven't done it before though because it's set ups of different stages of The Beatles career rather than artifacts or anything historical
It's worth a visit but the the new one up on Mathew Street has got actual artifacts...The Beatles.
well worth a visit if you haven't done them before anyway.
This is the official gift shop for The Beatles Story around the corner,
There's the Magical Mystery Tour bus
Through the fence, not the best shot but there's the Magical Mystery Tour bus that takes you around Liverpool, to all Beatles relevant places. Forthlin Road - Paul Paul McCartney's house and John Lennon's on Menlove, George Harrison's on Arnold Grove
The Magical Mystery Tour bus takes you all around those type places - Penny Lane, Strawberry Field, the usual suspects
Well worth it if you're just in Liverpool and you just want to see the main sites. There's a guide online goes to places like Gambia Terrace and Jacaranda Club the Casbah.....or the former sites of them anyway. So this is the room in the Staybridge Suites. So you come in the front door and immediately on the right then you have the kitchenette.
Liverpool artwork - the Liver Building.
Patchwork Mersey Ferry
It's got album covers of The Beatles
It's a very nice hotel. A nice hotel and it's a few hundred yards from the Albert Dock outside
