Overslag is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Terneuzen, and lies about 36 km southeast of Vlissingen.
The village was first mentioned in 1542 as ten Overslach, and means place where goods could be transferred. It was located where the canal from Axel and canal from the Belgian Wachtebeke were closed together. It is a border village which is cut in two by the Netherlands-Belgian border. In 1547, the Sassevaart was dug and Overslag become obsolete for the transfer of goods. The parish church is located on the Belgian side. During World War I, it was not possible to completely shut the border and the Wire of Death, a lethal electric fence, ran through the village.Overslag was a separate municipality until 1970, when it was merged with Axel.

De Moervaart is een kanaal in het noorden van de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De Moervaart is 22,42 km lang en verbindt het Kanaal van Gent naar Terneuzen en de Durme. Het kanaal heeft vandaag nog weinig economische betekenis en wordt enkel door de pleziervaart gebruikt. Deze waterloop loopt in Gent door Mendonk, door Wachtebeke en in het Waasland door Moerbeke-Waas en Lokeren. Via de Stekense Vaart staat de Moervaart in verbinding met Stekene.
De Moervaart (vroeger de Moere genaamd) werd oorspronkelijk in de Middeleeuwen (rond 1300) gegraven door de abdij van Boudelo, aanvankelijk om de afwatering van de alluviale Moervaartdepressie te verbeteren en zo weiland en landbouwgrond te winnen. Om de moeilijk bevaarbare Zuidlede te vermijden voor het transport van turf, dat in dit gebied gewonnen werd, is ze in de 15e eeuw eveneens bevaarbaar gemaakt.

Fuut, meerkoet, reiger en wilde eend vertegenwoordigen de watervogels terwijl es, populier, wilg en zwarte els het bomenbestand bevat, een kluwenhoornbloem nabij. Men ontmoet ook de jachthaven van Wachtebeke en de Sint-Catharinakerk, een parochiekerk in Wachtebeke en bekend als een gotische driehallenkerk met achtzijdige kerktoren, toegewijd aan de heilige Catharina van Alexandrië. Een ander opvallend monument is de watertoren van Wachtebeke.

Het begin van de Waasland Peddelroute, vertrekkende aan de Overledebrug in Wachtebeke (steiger 1) tot een eindje voorbij het Kanocenter.
Het 1ste deel is GoPro Max (reframed), het 2de deel is GoPro Max Hero mode en toont het terugvaren naar de ondergaande zon.
The start of the Waasland Paddle Route, starting from the Overledebrug in Wachtebeke (dock 1) until a little past the Kanocenter.
The 1st part is GoPro Max (reframed), the 2nd part is GoPro Max Hero mode and shows sailing back to the setting sun.

A few days in Belgium visiting Dinant and Bouillon - both riverside towns. We arrived in Bouillon and couldn't understand why there were so many people about - it soon became apparent that the annual two day medieval festival was taking place!

Urban expedition by bike, canoe & train
Visiting the cities of Antwerp and Gent in Belgium in a ecological way only by using bike, public transport (train) and canoe. Doing this with a folding bike, folding bike-trolley / bike trailer and folding canoe I proved myself you can go everywhere even with a canoe. because this was an urban testcase I called it Urban Expedition.I was very pleased with the results. The only remark I have to make is: don't use public transport on a busy moment or at crowded places if you have to get all the equipement on or of a train.The most advise about traveling with a Brompton I found on the PathLessPedaled site. So thanks guys. I use a Brompton (12 shifting gear) in combination with a carry freedom city but I had to change the lolly hitch into a chariot hitch for maximum compatibility. The trolley is ideal for transporting the Ally 16,5 DR canoe in folding aswel in the unfolding way. A perfect match! So also thanks to Nick Lobnitz for inventing creating this foldable bike trailer and also letting me cross the digital path of Papete - Pedal & Paddle. Thanks to Fietsen De Geus Antwerp and also Kanocenter Wachtebeke for their advise and maintenance of the equipment. Kind regard, hope you enjoyed the pictures.
Upper Dijle Kayaking (Florivalstraat to Korbeek-Dijle)
Lots of fallen over trees and obstacles. A few times we had to get out of the kayak and pull it over, but most of the time there are ways to squeeze under or through a small opening to the left or right. Fun trip though, highly recommended :)
