Having easily made it into Europe, obtaining Coopers EU Pet Passport, and effortlessly moving between European countries, we make it to Amsterdam and The Netherlands.
Amsterdam is one of our top 5 cities we've visited and to be able to drive here in our home and to be able to bring Cooper along too was great. Amsterdam is very pet friendly, all public transport allowed Cooper to travel and most restaurants were ok with Cooper going inside too.
We had a great few days with Greg, Lou, Archie and Rob discovering Amsterdam.

What are we doing and why have we called this trip an EXPEDITION? The word Expedition is used in all our video titles as this word means promptness or speed in doing something, with a particular purpose, especially that of exploration and this fits in perfectly with our plan to not only stay out of the UK for as long as possible, but to sample each country we visit to see if we want to come back for longer in our future travels.

Kasteel Blauwendael in Waasmunster : waar het altijd lente is
In deze film wandel je mee met de rijke natuur en cultuur die het Kasteel Blauwendael en omliggende park van Waasmunster bezitten. Zij hebben een lange geschiedenis achter de rug gekend.
Het kasteel Blauwendael in Waarsmunster werd oorspronkelijk gebouwd in 1607. In 1889 werd het kasteel door de familie de Neve de Rode heropgericht in neo-Vlaamse renaissancestijl, naar een ontwerp van de Gentse architect Jozef De Waele. Het kasteelpark, gelegen tussen de Kerkstraat en de Gentstraat, zou rond 1820-1830 aangelegd in Engelse landschapsstijl. In het park bevinden zich ook een oranjerie en een koetshuis. Het kasteel werd in 1980 aangekocht door de gemeente Waasmunster. Nu is er onder meer een heemkundig museum gevestigd. In 1987 werd het kasteel beschermd als monument. Het kasteelpark vormt ook een beschermd dorpsgezicht. Heb je het rood hart ook ontmoet?
Blauwendael Castle is a nineteenth-century Flemish Renaissance Revival palace in a public garden in the municipality of Waasmunster between Ghent and Antwerp in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The Ghentish architect Jozef De Waele rebuilt the first castle of 1607 at the request of the political family de Neve de Rode which has been dominant in the local and national government. Typically is the English landscape garden included a lake, sweeps of gently rolling lawns set against groves of trees, bridges, and other picturesque sculpture, designed to recreate an idyllic pastoral landscape.

Driving 4K Around Belgium: from Zele to Lokeren & Back
In this first episode of Driving 4K Around Belgium, we drove through the neighboring villages where we live in Belgium. We pass the normal road from Zele to Lokeren, two villages in Flanders.

Expo De Pékin à Hankou: une aventure belge en Chine à Train World
Du 7 mai au 10 octobre 2021, voyagez de Train World à Pékin et découvrez une incroyable aventure belge en Chine.
Cette expo vous fera vivre l'histoire méconnue mais néanmoins incroyable de la construction par les Belges, au début du XXe siècle, de la ligne Pékin-Hankou, la plus grande ligne de chemins de fer de Chine, reliant le nord au sud du pays.
Pendant sept ans, quelque 50.000 personnes ont travaillé à ce chantier pharaonique. Cette aventure hors normes est le fruit d’une collaboration entre ingénieurs, techniciens, ouvriers mais aussi diplomates et financiers occidentaux et chinois. A leur tête, Jean Jadot, un jeune ingénieur belge alors âgé de 37 ans, coordonna et mena à bien ce projet colossal.
Outre cette aventure historique, l’exposition présente également le développement impressionnant des chemins de fer en Chine aujourd’hui, à travers son réseau à grande vitesse.
Des œuvres originales en lien avec la construction de la ligne Pékin – Hankou réalisées à quatre mains par les artistes Li Kunwu (Chine) et François Schuiten (Belgique), apporteront une dimension artistique contemporaine à cette expo. D’autres œuvres de Li Kunwu, inspirées de l’univers ferroviaire chinois, viendront également enrichir cette exposition.
Au fil de votre visite, des histoires passionnantes vous seront racontées par les principaux protagonistes du projet, au travers de mannequins parlants. Leurs récits vous transporteront à cette époque et vous feront revivre cette incroyable épopée.

Winternatuur langs de Moervaart tussen de Kalvebrug in Wachtebeke en Overledebrug in Wachtebeke
De Moervaart is een kanaal in het noorden van de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De Moervaart is 22,42 km lang en verbindt het Kanaal van Gent naar Terneuzen en de Durme. Het kanaal heeft vandaag nog weinig economische betekenis en wordt enkel door de pleziervaart gebruikt. Deze waterloop loopt in Gent door Mendonk, door Wachtebeke en in het Waasland door Moerbeke-Waas en Lokeren. Via de Stekense Vaart staat de Moervaart in verbinding met Stekene.
De Moervaart (vroeger de Moere genaamd) werd oorspronkelijk in de Middeleeuwen (rond 1300) gegraven door de abdij van Boudelo, aanvankelijk om de afwatering van de alluviale Moervaartdepressie te verbeteren en zo weiland en landbouwgrond te winnen. Om de moeilijk bevaarbare Zuidlede te vermijden voor het transport van turf, dat in dit gebied gewonnen werd, is ze in de 15e eeuw eveneens bevaarbaar gemaakt.
In deze YouTube video maak jij kennis met een mooi stukje natuur langs de Moervaart tussen de in Wachtbeke gevestigde ijzeren ophaalbruggen Kalvebrug en Overledebrug. Fuut, meerkoet, reiger en wilde eend vertegenwoordigen de watervogels terwijl es, populier, wilg en zwarte els het bomenbestand bevat, een kluwenhoornbloem nabij. Men ontmoet ook de jachthaven van Wachtebeke en de Sint-Catharinakerk, een parochiekerk in Wachtebeke en bekend als een gotische driehallenkerk met achtzijdige kerktoren, toegewijd aan de heilige Catharina van Alexandrië. Een ander opvallend monument is de watertoren van Wachtebeke.
