On our very first trip to South Africa we spent one day in Stellenbosch where we did a wine tour and hit up a total of 5 wineries. It was an action packed day but we knew we had only seen a fraction of what this place has to offer and we were itching to return! Fast forward two years, and we found ourselves with an invitation to come and experience Stellenbosch, this time with a week to spare. Naturally we said yes! This being the winelands meant that our itinerary was wine heavy, but we also got to see sample the food, visit the markets, check out the nightlife and get close to nature. The following is our travel guide to Stellenbosch, pour yourself a glass of wine, sit back, and join us on this ride!
In between all the feasting and vineyard hopping, we also found a bit of time to explore Stellenbosch itself. Stellenbosch is a charming town located in the Western Cape, and it’s the second oldest European settlement in the province after Cape Town. The streets are lined with oak trees, the buildings are all painted white, and you have a cool mix of Early Cape, Cape Dutch, and Victorian architecture.
And while Sam was off hiking, I did a biking tour of Stellenbosch with the Adventure Shop, where I learned a bit more about the town’s history, and got out in nature, before biking over to the Lanzerac Wine Estate where we met up with the group again. Here we had a light lunch featuring a spread of cheese, deli meats, fresh fruits, and of course, wine!
And just like that our week in Stellenbosch was over! I think it’s fair to say that we left a few pounds heavier, but with a newfound appreciation for South African wine and a taste of what the winelands have to offer. The best things in cape town in one vlog! Cape Town has so many things to do, but our favorites have to be (in no particular order):
1) Franschhoek Wine Tram: the wine is delicious and affordable. And but taking the wine tram in Franschhoek you can see a lot of wineries in the wine region without worrying about drinking and driving. The best day trip from Cape Town! We booked this tour:
2) Hike Table Mountain: We went via the skeleton gorge hike and felt like we got to experience the best hike Table Mountain has to offer.
3) Diving: scuba diving with a seal colony (can also snorkel!) and diving in the kelp forest were some of our favorite dives!

More so than in life, restaurants are about balance.
Not only in food and wine, but also people. And thus our service is as important. What makes it even more of a challenge is when all this happens on a historic and award winning wine estate.
We have selected the right team and together we built from there, to create the finest dining experience at a world-class venue. By the time the doors opened we had selected the purveyors to provide the freshest ingredients and have personally selected the wines to compliment the menu.
The original cellar, a National Monument, has been converted and our kitchen is placed front and centre, thus creating an ambiance that is relaxed but vibey. We also have a proprietor/winemaker table in a private area between or cellars which can accommodate a maximum of 8 people. We take pride in the fact that time was taken with well known potter, David Walters, to create the crockery, handcrafted Riedel stemware was selected and Laguiole knives purchased, to give you an experience you won't soon forget.
