Hello everyone we're Will and Alex and today we're sharing 10 hiking spots located in Northern Bavaria, using Grafenwoehr as a starting point. Everything is within about a 1 hour drive -- perfect for a day trip!
We are also sharing, to the best of our knowledge, parking information, any fees involved, and beer huts along the way. You may think it's only an Alpen thing, but there are a bunch of super low key and awesome beer huts in Franconia and the surrounding areas.

If you live near Grafenwoehr, did you know you live near SO MANY castle ruins? Here are 10 of them with details on how much it costs, where to park, and what events you might want to look out for. These are all perfect for a day trip, a picnic, hiking, and sometimes for the sunset (especially Waldeck).

Overseas PCS to Vilseck/Grafenwoehr, Germany. Government leased off post housing, 3 bedrooms 2.5 bathrooms. Specifically this is the Steinfels community, but the housing layout is very similar to those in the Mantel community. Steinfels is a sub area of Mantel. 25 min from Vilseck and 10 minutes from Grafenwoehr.

Welcome to Nuremberg #Germany, our 29th country on our round the world trip! We finally made it to Bavaria where we experienced our first German Christmas Market and German Street Food!
This entire series was inspired by a single Instagram photo that Ashley saved years ago. The Nuremberg Christmas Market sparked a plan that will take us all over Bavaria as we get to know what Germany has to offer at Christmastime. Spoiler… a LOT!
After showing you around Nuremberg’s Old Town a bit, we head straight to the best GERMAN CHRISTMAS MARKET for gluhwein and DELICIOUS GERMAN STREET FOOD. This Christmas Market truly has everything you’d want. We ate some of the famous Nürnberger brats and even some *flaming* mulled wine! Plus, we found the secret sauce for the Kartoffelpuffer, or German potato pancakes - garlic sour cream! YUM!

Had a blast practicing my German at the McDonalds drive-thru. I actually tried to order a Spaghetti Eis lol.
Grafenwohr is home to the US Army/NATO training area. I spent A lot of time training in Graf while I had served in the US Army. Graf is also where I got hurt but at least I can walk now.
Grafenwohr Vilseck is just outside of Graf and houses Rose Barracks.
