Exquisite holiday villa between Meina and Arona with pool and fabulous views over Lake Maggiore.
The Villa Seta can sleep up to 10-11 people in 5 bedrooms (260m²):
– On the main floor are a double bedroom and two bathrooms with shower. A dining area with table and an open-plan kitchen with large sliding patio doors leading to the covered terrace and the garden. A perfect setting for al fresco dining featuring comfortable outdoor furniture and a table for up to twelve people.
– On the first floor is a bright and spacious living area with sofas and satellite TV and floor to ceiling sliding windows opening out onto the terrace with stunning views over the lake. There are 3 double bedrooms (in one bedroom the beds can be separated into twins) and 1 cosy children’s bedroom with bunk beds (two single beds) and a single bed. One bathroom with shower enclosure and another bathroom with tub and overhead shower. All the bedrooms are air-conditioned and the windows have mosquito screens and sliding steel security gates.
Outside you’ll find a beautifully lawned garden (750m²) with private swimming pool (5 x 9m) and relaxing sun loungers. There’s also a kids corner with playhouse, slide and swing. The entire property is fenced and bordered by thick hedges to ensure your safety and total privacy.
The holiday Villa Seta is situated on a scenic hill in a quiet residential area of Meina (1.5 km to the village centre) with panoramic views over Lake Maggiore. The charming town of Arona is located at 4 km with a beautiful lakeside promenade and many shops and restaurants. From there you can easily hop on a ferry and explore the delights of Lake Maggiore. Only 15 km away you’ll find Stresa, the most popular tourist town on the lake, with regular ferries to the famous Borromeo Islands. Many easy day trips are possible in this region: the famous Piedmont vineyards, the romantic Lake Orta, playing golf on one of the many golf courses or hiking in the nearby mountains. Arona’s railway station connects you directly to the centre of Milan.

The historic villa is located in a small town called Meina, few steps away from Maggiore Lake and the historic city centre.
The villa is surrounded by an amazing park with valuable wood species, a fruit garden and an olive grove.
The villa itself was designed in the classic style with spacious rooms, high ceilings and panoramic windows.
The main living accommodations are located on the ground floor: a spacious living room with a fireplace and a sun-lounge offering access to the garden and portico, another living room with the TV area, a dining hall, a kitchen with a back door, and some service areas.
On the first floor there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a cloakroom.
On the second floor there are a bedroom with a bathroom, separate two-levelled apartment units with a living room, kitchen, three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
On the basement you can see a tavern, a billiard hall, a kitchen with a dining room, a gym, a boiler room, a laundry room, and some service areas.
The guest house
On the ground floor there are a living room with a fireplace, a medium-sized kitchen, and a spacious dining hall offering a panoramic view of the lake and access to the terrace. The garden features stunning views over Lake Maggiore towards the bay of Stresa - Verbania. There’s an open and a covered terrace on each side of the villa with outdoor furniture and built-in barbecue to enjoy al fresco dining and a sunny lawn with sun loungers and deck chairs. Particularly inviting is the flowered pergola with large table for up to 20 people! Stairs tunnel down from the garden to a stone platform bordering the lake from where you can go for a refreshing swim or a relaxing cruise by canoe. (Outdoor Jacuzzi not available anymore).
This vacation villa ‘Villa Cinderella’ is situated along the shore in a peaceful residential area only 600 m from the village centre of Ispra which has a small number of shops, bars and restaurants. There is also a scenic lakefront promenade, marina, small beach and lakeside bars. Six km away is the charming laid-back village of Angera with the historic Castle ‘La Rocca’ and ferry to Arona. The villa is 15 km away from the charming town of Laveno, where you can hop on any ferry to explore the wonders of the lake (regular crossings to the Borromeo islands, Stresa and Verbania Intra). The railway station of Laveno easily connects you with Milan city centre.

Agrigento Travel
Agrigento Travel - At one time the fourth-largest city in the known world, Agrigento, or Akragas as it was then known, is home to Sicily's most impressive Greek ruins. Situated about 3km below the ugly modern city, the Unesco-listed Valley of the Temples is one of the most mesmerising sites in the Mediterranean, boasting the best-preserved Doric temples outside Greece. On the travel radar since Goethe sang their praises in the 18th century, they are now Sicily's single biggest tourist site, with more than 600,000 visitors a year.
Up the hill, modern Agrigento is not an immediately appealing prospect. Huge motorway elevations converge on a ragged hilltop centre scarred by brutish tower blocks and riddled with choking traffic. However, hidden behind this depressing outer ring is an attractive medieval kernel with some fine accommodation and a lively evening buzz.
Ancient Akragas was founded by settlers from Gela and Rhodes in 581 BC. The presence of a ready water supply ensured its rapid growth and by the 5th century BC it had become one of the Mediterranean's great cities, with a population of 200,000 and a reputation as a party hot spot. The Greek poet Pindar described it as 'the most beautiful (city) of those inhabited by mortals' and wrote that its citizens 'feasted as if there were no tomorrow'.
Its good fortunes began to waver in the 4th and 3rd centuries BC as it passed successively between Greek, Carthaginian and Roman hands. The Romans, who took the city in 210 BC, renamed it Agrigentum and encouraged farming and trade, thus laying the foundations for its future as an important Byzantine commercial centre.
In the 7th century most of the city's residents moved up the hill to the site of the present-day city, virtually abandoning the old town. Experts don't know exactly why, but the most credible theories suggest it was to escape the threat of the North African Saracens. As a defence policy it worked for close to 200 years until the city fell to the Saracens at the start of the 9th century.
Agrigento didn't change much until the 19th century, when the western half of the city was built. Allied bombing in WWII forced a second wave of development in the post-war years, culminating in a bout of construction in the '60s and '70s. Many of the tower blocks that overshadow the Valley of the Temples date to this period.
The centre of the town's lively, medieval core is Via Atenea, an attractive strip lined with smart shops, trattorias and bars. Narrow alleyways wind upwards off the main street, through tightly packed palazzi.

La strada statale 115 quater Sud Occidentale Sicula (SS 115 quater oppure SS 115 qtr), conosciuta anche come Viadotto Morandi (dal cognome del suo progettista) e Viadotto Akragas, è una strada statale italiana a due corsie per senso di marcia, che collega Villaseta, Monserrato e la strada statale 115 Sud Occidentale Sicula, di cui quest'ultimo costituisce una diramazione, con la città di Agrigento. Il nome SS115 quater deriva dal fatto che, quest'ultima, è la quarta diramazione della statale. Il Viadotto Akragas l è stato chiuso per circa 4 mesi nel 2015 per la prima volta per lavori di messa in sicurezza ed è stato riaperto il 15 luglio 2015 solo ai mezzi leggeri. Attualmente sono chiusi i Viadotti Akragas I e II, da Marzo 2017 di nuovo per lavori di messa in sicurezza. Si prevede la riapertura, dopo un periodo di ristrutturazione, nel 2021.
Percorso
La strada ha inizio nei pressi di Villaseta e Monserrato con l'innesto sull'arteria principale. Dopo un percorso di 3,910 chilometri in parte in viadotto (Viadotto Akragas I e II), la strada, interamente a due corsie per senso di marcia, giunge ad Agrigento nei pressi dello stadio Esseneto. Agrigento, situated on a plateau overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, is a city on the southern coast of Sicily. It is the site of the ancient Greek city of Akragas which was established around 580 BC. It is famous for Valle dei Templi (Valley of the Temples), a misnomer, as it is a ridge, rather than a valley. The Valley of the Temples is a large sacred area on the south side of the ancient city where seven monumental Greek temples were constructed during the 6th century BC.
We had the opportunity to walk along the ridge and get very close to the ancient temple ruins.

Ghizzano...il borgo colorato

Il borgo di Ghizzano è situato in Valdera, su di un'altura cretosa tra le sorgenti del torrente Roglio e del Melogio.
Sono opera degli artisti Alicja Kwade, David Tremlett e Patrick Tuttofuoco, gli interventi permanenti che da qualche settimana si possono ammirare nel borgo toscano di Ghizzano, in provincia di Pisa.
Tre progetti per Ghizzano è un processo durato un anno e mezzo che ha permesso di inserire opere di arte pubblica in varie zone del comprensorio.
L’intervento di David Tremlett per Ghizzano è nato durante una passeggiata che l’artista ha effettuato per le vie del paese.
Dall'osservazione delle morbide colline che circondano il paese si determina la scelta dei colori, marrone e verde che l'artista utilizza per una serie di wall drawings.
Tuttofuoco trae spunto per le sue sculture realizzate con materiali diversi come marmo, neon e ferro, da alcuni dettagli dei personaggi raffigurati da Benozzo.
Elevatio corpus viene tradotto letteralmente come corpo portante.
Un corpo che è sia architettonico (strutturale) che anatomico (umano) , che sottintende la presenza di qualcos’altro che viene sostenuto e trasportato, qualcosa in grado di trascendere la materia, lo spazio e il tempo.
SolidSky è realizzata con una pietra (Azul Macaubas) proveniente dal Sud America che si caratterizza per delle venature azzurre che virano in alcuni punti al blu.
SolidSky, così come suggerisce il titolo della scultura, rimanda al cielo, all’universo e alle sfere celesti. Quasi come se una mano invisibile avesse scagliato dall'alto un pianeta, casualmente finito sulla Terra, il lavoro costituisce una presenza misteriosa e nello stesso tempo accattivante.
