Rumunsko jsem měl na svém cestovatelském seznamu již dlouho a toto léto přišla zajímavá příležitost k návštěvě. Samozřejmě jsem svoje plány trochu přestřelil. Rád totiž na výlety létám a i tentokrát přišla zajímavá možnost z Vídně do Sibiu a zpět z Jasy (Iasi) přímo do Prahy.
Jenže už při plánování jsem zjistil, že bez zapůjčení auta, výlet bude značně komplikovaný a všechny plány se seznamy míst bude potřeba překopat. Z některých míst jsou spoje klidně i jen 1x denně. Tento fakt značně komplikuje možnost přijet do obce ten den a hned odpoledne odjet. Takže jsem zjistil, že touto cestou to po Rumunsku nepůjde. Hledal jsem tedy další možnost, jak projet co nejvíce z Rumunska, když autobusem je to téměř nemožné. Samozřejmě se nabízejí vlaky, jenže ani to v Rumunsku není lehké. Spojů je opět často málo, než by člověk potřeboval a jejich rychlost je velmi pomalá. Poslední možností už bylo jen stopování. Řekl jsem si super, ona vlastně ani jiná možnost není, protože na některá místa prostě spoj už ani nejezdí. Viz nástup do hor ve videu od času 2:46.
Jenže byla tu další komplikace. Moje zkušenost se stopování do té doby byla mizerná a říkal jsem si, že zkoušet to zrovna prakticky poprvé v Rumunsku, asi není úplně ideální nápad. Samozřejmě jiná možnost se nenašla, krome půjčení auta, takže jsem si mohl poprvé řádně zastopovat.
Celkově Rumunsko bylo super, až na to, když jsem sešel z hor a přišla brutální únava asi s nějakým drobným nachlazením. Naštěstí jsem vše přežil, jen jsem jeden den prakticky nepil pivo. Víte ale jak, to se prostě dá zvládnout. No a více už v mém videu z Rumunska.

It was founded in 1811 by a few Gagauz families, originally being named Ilanlîk. Its current name literally means Old customs, named so after Southern Dobruja (the Cadrilater) had been included in Romania in 1913. In 1940, however, that region was transferred to Bulgaria, and the village has since lain once again near the border, but the name stuck.
Even in Communist Romania, Vama Veche had the reputation of a non-mainstream tourist destination, which has only grown since the Romanian Revolution of 1989. During the communist era, concern for border patrol sight lines spared Vama Veche the development that occurred in other Romanian Black Sea resorts. It became a hangout for intellectuals beginning with the 1960s when writers and intellectuals used to spend their summers here. Accommodations consisted of tents or rooms rented from peasants or fishermen. While camping is theoretically not permitted, to this day, many visitors or semi-permanent residents still stay in tents on the beach.
Famous for its nude beach, since the late 1990s Vama Veche has experienced development and gentrification, which has led to a Save Vama Veche campaign that is lobbying for the area's environmental conservation and a halt to development and mass tourism. Nudism is still common on the beach today, especially on the Northern part where the beach ends and the area is less crowded. A major part of the Save Vama Veche campaign is the 2003 founding of the Stufstock music festival. Both Save Vama Veche campaign and Stufstock Festival were initiated by the Association for the Conservation of Bio-Cultural Protected Areas NGO. The August 2003 festival drew a crowd of about 10,000. The 2004 edition drew about 20,000 people. The 2005 Stufstock drew a record 40,000-large crowd, formed mainly by rockers, bohemians, punkers and goths.

Vama Veche este cea mai sudică staţiune românească la Marea Neagră. Se află la 1 km distanţă de graniţa cu Bulgaria. Odinioară un mic sat de pescari, acum este unul dintre cele mai populare spoturi de pe litoralul românesc. Cândva un loc boem, acum, sufletul petrecerilor. În timpul verii, nostalgicii „vremurilor bune” de acum 20-30 de ani îl consideră mult prea aglomerat. De celalaltă parte, Vama este tot mai interesantă pentru tinerii nonconformiști. Hey guys, I'm here at Vama Veche today, in Romania. When we think of Romania we think of Dracula and beautiful green mountains but not many people know that Romania has an amazing beach culture.
Behind me you see the Black Sea. It is the coastal area of Black Sea where I'm standing right now. It's the evening time, you see less people here but there are a lot of people around here. Also this place is very close to the Bulgarian border. I have never seen a border with such an amazing lifestyle. So, this place, in summers, is really really really crazy. This place is famous for rock music and nudity is considered very normal here. People go to the beach normally naked and I haven't been able to do so far so but I look forward to doing that. In the 1970s and 80s, it was a place for hippies. All these places you see, they were not here. It was full of tents and this place used to be famous for hippie gatherings but now you see all these restaurant stories and big hotels. There are people with different views.
Some people still remember those old days with raw everything. And some people like the new change because it bring money.
But whatever, this is how it is. It's an amazing place. A lot of people come here for weekends, parties go for the whole night, bonfire, parties, everything. So, this place is happening.

Până spre sfârșitul anilor 1990 Vama Veche era cunoscută ca fiind un cătun de pescari cu o plajă puțin cunoscută de către turiști, fiind preferată îndeosebi de către nudiști. În ultimii 10 ani însă, și datorită muzicii promovate de formația Vama Veche, localitatea a cunoscut un aflux puternic de turiști, schimbându-și complet vechea înfățișare prin apariția de construcții și spații comerciale noi. Aici se desfășoară anual, începând din anul 2003, festivalul de muzică rock numit Stufstock. Această evoluție a adus multe critici din partea unor vechi cunoscători ai localității care deplâng dispariția vechiului farmec a acestui fost cătun pescăresc liniștit și boem.

My previoous backpacking trip to Vama Veche in June met with cold rains and less crowd. Hence, I decided to visit to Vama Veche one more time before saying goodbye to Romania.
I am hitchhiking from Bucharest to Vama Veche. First we found a ride upto Constanta after a wait of about 1 hour. From there we changed two buses and completed our trip in eight hours.
