Bad geography aside, I continue my tour of the great state of Ohio with Tolle from @TheTolleRoad and Road Trip Rich. Tolle brings me to the very cool and awesome roadside gem Mike’s Place Restaurant. I take a look around all the eclectic decorations and stop to have some really amazing ribs! Have I mentioned; it’s in Kent and not Akron? A short one, but lots of fun to see! Do come along!!!

In this Drive Time video...we pay a visit to #CuyahogaFalls, Ohio. USA. Heading north from Akron on State Route 8...we arrive shortly and capture a quick drive around the city. Having grown up in Akron...didn't go to the Falls often or at least as I remember...so not very familiar with the city...not sure where major landmarks were or the city center. Hope to comeback and do a proper tour walking around when I can come back up from Columbus.

Here are five highlights of the Brandywine Gorge Loop Trail, which includes the very scenic Brandywine Falls. This is one of the most popular areas inside Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

I started at the Brandywine Falls trailhead, 8176 Brandywine Road in Sagamore Hills Township.
You can also access this trail by starting at the Stanford House (6093 Stanford Rd, Peninsula, OH 44264) and hiking the Stanford Trail.
Trail mileage: 1.5 miles round trip
Time it took me: 1 hour
Elevation change: 160 feet
NPS rating: Moderate

At less than 10 miles from Cuyahoga Valley National Park and about 30 miles from downtown Cleveland this KOA is in a great location for big city fun and some of the best hiking and biking in the Great Lakes Region.
Every campground video needs a dad joke! Since we’re at Cuyahoga Valley we’ll throw in a biking reference: Why didn’t the bike want to go camping? It was two tired. All right back to the KOA.
So, what can you find at your campsite? Most of the RV sites are full hookup with water, sewer, and electric with 20 amp, 30 amp, and 50 amp outlets. The sites are generally stone pads with grass. Picnic tables and firepits are located at each site as well. There are a few sites in the back that are water and electric only. But check the campground map on their website to learn more. We also found that the campsites are generally level and there are many large trees to provide great shade and shelter from the wind.
Let’s pause on the campground and share what is close to the Streetsboro/Cleveland KOA and later we’ll get into what there is for dogs.
But can you stay overnight in Cuyahoga Valley National Park? No, you can’t. There is no camping available or allowed in Cuyahoga Valley. So Streetsboro/Cleveland KOA is your best choice for camping while visiting the national park. Cuyahoga Valley is a great experience. We enjoyed biking the canal trail and hiking the ledges area of Cuyahoga Valley. There are not many national parks that have such great biking. The towpath trail and other biking integrated inside and outside the park make this a cyclist destination. Hikers will enjoy all there is to offer too. We enjoyed hiking the Brandywine Gorge Loop trail that takes about 1-2 hours. The ledges is also a popular hiking spot with many rock formations to explore. You should plan about 1-2 hours to hike this area too.

Streetsboro Cleveland KOA is conveniently between these two towns.
But, Cleveland has more to discover. Less than 30 miles away there are many top attractions. Most would say the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is at the top of tourist’s lists. But you can also visit the museum of art, Cleveland Zoo, USS Cod Submarine Memorial, and West Side Market. You can also see the house from A Christmas Story and the accompanying official museum for the movie.

Kent is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the largest city in Portage County. It is located along the Cuyahoga River in Northeast Ohio on the western edge of the county. The population was 28,904 in the 2010 Census and was estimated at 30,071 in 2016. The city is counted as part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area and the larger Cleveland–Akron–Canton Combined Statistical Area.
Part of the Connecticut Western Reserve, Kent was settled in 1805 and was known for many years as Franklin Mills. Settlers were attracted to the area due to its location along the Cuyahoga River as a place for water-powered mills. Later development came in the 1830s and 1840s as a result of the settlement's position along the route of the Pennsylvania and Ohio Canal. Leading up to the American Civil War, Franklin Mills was noted for its activity in the Underground Railroad. With the decline of the canal and the emergence of the railroad, the town became the home of the Atlantic and Great Western Railroad maintenance shops through the influence of Marvin Kent. In 1864 the town was renamed Kent in honor of and in gratitude for Marvin Kent's efforts. It was incorporated as a village in 1867 and became a city after the 1920 Census. Today Kent is a college town best known as the home of the main campus of Kent State University, founded in 1910, and as the site of the 1970 Kent State shootings.
Historically a manufacturing center, education is the city's largest economic sector with Kent State University the city's, and one of the region's, largest employers. The Kent City School District and the Kent Free Library provide additional education opportunities and resources. Many of Kent's demographic elements are influenced by the presence of the university, particularly the median age, median income, and those living below the poverty level. The city is governed by a council-manager system with a city manager, a nine-member city council, and a mayor. Kent has nearly 20 parks and preserves and hosts a number of annual festivals including ones related to Earth Day, folk music, and the U.S. Independence Day. In addition to the Kent State athletic teams, the city also hosts a number of amateur and local sporting events at various times during the year. Kent is part of the Cleveland-Akron media market and is the city of license for three local radio stations and three television stations and includes the regional affiliates for National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). Local transportation infrastructure includes a public bus service and hike-and-bike trails. As the home of the Davey Tree Expert Company, Kent is known as The Tree City while residents are referred to as Kentites. The city has produced a number of notable individuals, particularly in politics, athletics, and the entertainment industry.
