Number 10 - El Draguillo
This hike is located on the northern part of the island. If offers stunning views over the mountains and the coastline, if you are lucky like we were, you can meet some local goats.
The nature is quite dramatic and along the way we met hundreds of small, curious lizards. The hike took approximately 3 hours.

Number 9 - Cueva del Tancón
Is located near Los Gigantes on the west coast. There are several entrances to this cave, some people jump in from the roof.
But you can also swim into the cave directly from the sea. You have to swim down 4-5 meters and then 15-20 meters to the side. However, you must be careful here due to strong currents can pull you in or out. Swimming here is not recommended due to these risks.

Number 8 - Masca Valley
This beautiful valley worth visiting. If you rent a car, you should definitely stop along the way and take in the magnificent views of the winding roads down to the small village. The village is quite touristy but beautiful.

Number 7 - Punta de las Salinas
With only 8 available parking lots, this is not a place where you’ll find a lot of tourists. We found this place by accident, and it was a unique experience. If you come here early in the day, hopefully you’ll have the whole place to yourselves. The water in the natural pool is warmer than the ocean, which is nice. If you’re into snorkeling or diving, be sure to check out the water outside the pool as well.

Number 6 - Turtle Bay
A couple of years ago this bay inhabited plenty of turtles, hence the name. However, there are rumours that the turtles were killed by some mad tourists. We didn’t meet any turtles unfortunately, still, the water was nice.
This bay can be quite crowded, but if you walk on the right side of the beach you’ll eventually come to a more rocky spot where you can be alone.

Number 5 - Arco de Tajao
This unique rock formation is located in the south, and is easy to access, only 200 meter walk from the road. Not a lot of people know about this place. When we came here, we were completely alone for half an hour.

Number 4 - Lunar Paisaje
Finding this amazing hike is a bit tricky. The GPS guided us to roads that were impossible for our rental car to go through. Unless you have an SUV, we recommend coming from the north, through Teide National Park. When you arrive, you’ll have to hike 1 or 2 hours until you reach the rock formations. This place is extraordinary.

Number 3 - Los Gigantes
The name Los Gigantes is referring to the gigant cliffs along the coast north of the village. We rented a small boat in the harbour. They had a deal, rent a boat for 4 hours and get an extra hour for free. With five hours, you’ll have plenty of time exploring the coast, caves, and the sea. This was the highlight of our snorkeling adventure.
In the harbour snorkeling is not allowed, but you’ll be able to see a lot of fish. We were lucky enough to see a huge stingray.

Number 2 - Anaga Forest Reserve
This huge reserve is located in the north of the island. Due to high humidity, the forest differ a lot from other parts of the island that are much dryer. Tree trunks are covered with green moss, fungi grow on old logs, and some areas are covered with large ferns.
We recommend that you go to Las Vueltas and hike up the trail north from the parking lot. This hike is much more beautiful and there are less tourists here.

Number 1 - Teide National Park
We placed it as number 1 for several reasons. The landscape is very unique, there are many interesting hiking trails, and most of them you can go on alone.
If you want, you can go to the top of the volcano by cable car. However, be sure to book the tickets in advance. We tried to buy tickets on the spot, but it was fully booked for the whole day.
We actually went to Teide National Park twice, once during the day, and once in the middle of the night. This is a must! I’ve never seen a clearer sky and the milky way this clear before.

Have you ever thought of visiting Romania? Many people say it's not on their list of places to visit - but, it should be!! In this video, we share with you our Final Thoughts on Romania (covering the food, beer, transportation, and top sites) and go over the top Places to Visit. We traveled through Romania for 2 months and during that time had the opportunity to explore 8 different cities. We go through each of the cities we visited and share our final thoughts on each.
We started our journey in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Here is where we first discovered what wonderful things we had in store for us over the next two months - from the amazing food selections, numerous craft beer options, and beautiful architecture. Next, we made our way to Brasov located in the heart of Transylvania. While here we took day trips to visit both Peles Castle and Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) both wonderful day trips from this location. As we make our way through Transylvania, we discover Dracula's birthplace and his hometown of Sighisoara. Sibiu then became our home base for 2 weeks which was perfect as there was plenty to see and do here. You will find plenty to do in the old town and wonderful walking streets filled with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and bakeries. We ended our final 2 weeks in Romania with stops in Alba Iulia, Cluj, Oradea, and Timisoara. Join us on our journey and see all there is to discover in the beautiful country of Romania!

Subterranean Theme Park in Salt Mine
Salina Turda, is now a museum and tourist attraction located in the Transylvania region of Romania.
The site is a large underground wonderland with a brightly lit modern art theme park nestled 120 meters below the surface of the Earth inside one of the oldest salt mines ever known.
Salina Turda is today not only a museum of salt mining, but is also a subterranean Theme Park.

Unreal Romanian Food Tour. ???? 8 MUST TRY DISHES in Bucharest, Romania ???????? Eating Romanian Food ????
Unreal Romanian Food! This week we’re so excited to be trying traditional Romanian food for the very first time.
We start off a very famous restaurant and Old Town called Caru' cu bere. Here we try a few different dishes including a sour soup called Ciorbă which was made with white beans and pork and served in a bread bowl. We also had a polenta dish called Mamaliga cu branza si smantana, which is is made with cheese, sour cream and an egg. We also tried to order a pork dish called Jumari which we thought was made with pork rinds but ended up being a piece of bread with a pork spread and pickles and onions.
Later in the day we head to a wine bar to try out some Romanian wine and cheese. We each got a glass of red wine which was so much better than we expected and a cheese platter entirely made of Romanian cheese.
Lastly we make our way to one more restaurant to have some dinner. Here we try another Ciorbă or sour soup, this time made with turkey. We also try one of the most typical Romanian dishes, cabbage rolls which are made from pork meat and they were delicious. We also try a dessert called Papanași which is essentially small fried doughnuts covered in sour cream and with jam on top.

Castles and Towns of Transylvania | A Road Trip Through History
Transylvania is famous for vampires and werewolves, dark and brooding Carpathian mountains, and quaint little villages. But there's a lot more to see in this region of Romania.
I went on a road trip through Transylvania, and decided to read up on the history behind the various places I visited. My journey started in Cluj-Napoca, the old historical capital of Transylvania. Cluj has also been known as Napoca, Culus, Kolozsvár, Klausenburg and, as as of 1974, Cluj-Napoca.
From there my journey continued to the small town of Turda, which has one of the world's oldest salt mines that has been turned into an amusement park, and the Turda Gorge, a lovely ravine to walk through.
I also visited Sighișoara, a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its intact Medieval old town and city wall. It's also the birthplace of Vlad III of Wallachia - also known as Dracula. Outside of Sighișoara I visited the village of Saschiz to marvel at one of the Transylvanian fortified churches.
I also took a tour of Bran Castle, called Dracula's Castle even though it had nothing to do with Vlad III or Dracula from Bram Stoker's novel. The city of Brasov, Romania's seventh largest city, was my next destination, and after that I finished off my road trip in the lovely Peleș Castle, built by King Carol I of Romania.

Spain, Morocco, Greece, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Bulgaria and Romania - Plans for our 10 week trip
In this video Duke and I share our plans for our next trip. We are leaving in less than a week. It will be our longest trip ever. We will be gone for ten weeks.
Our first stop will be the Canary Islands From there we go to Morocco for just over a week and then take the ferry to Spain and drive up the coast to Barcelona. From Barcelona we fly to Thessaloniki, Greece, rent a car and explore Northern Greece. In the last month of the trip the plan is to visit North Macedonia, Kosovo, Bulgaria and Romania.
At the end of the video we discuss what we are looking forward to on the trip and we introduce our pet turtle Turtie.

How to get from Cluj Napoca Center to Salina Turda / Salt Mine by BUS. - Turda Romania - ECTV
Salina Turda (Hungarian: Tordai sóbánya) is a salt mine in the Durgău-Valea Sărată area of Turda, the second largest city in Cluj County, northwest Romania. Opened for tourists in 1992, the Salina Turda mine was visited by about 618,000 Romanian and foreign tourists in 2017.[2]
Salina Turda was ranked in 2013 by Business Insider as among the 25 hidden gems around the world that are worth the trek.[3]
Salt was first extracted here during the antiquity. The mine continuously produced table salt from the Middle Ages, the mine being first mentioned in 1075, to the early–20th century (1932).[4]
The first document that speaks explicitly about the existence of a salt mine in Turda dates from 1 May 1271, being issued by the Hungarian chancellery. Documents preserved from the 13th and 14th centuries that refer to the Turda salt mines mention that salines were arranged in the Băile Sărate microdepression and on the southeastern slope of the Valea Sărată. Operating rooms were placed at the sites of current salt lakes from the areas mentioned above. In the 17th century the first salt mining works began on the north-western slope of Valea Valea Sărată, as evidenced by shafts in the dome of the Terezia room. Shortly after, the Sfântul Anton mine was opened, where mining activity continued until the first half of the 20th century.[5]
Renovation
The Turda salt mine was renovated, and it reopened its doors in 2010 after a €5,888,000 investment.[6]
Since 1992, Salina Turda has been a halotherapy center and a popular tourist attraction.[7] In 2008 the salt mine was modernized and improved under the program PHARE 2005 ESC large regional/local infrastructure, worth six million euros.[8] It was reopened for tourism in January 2010.[9]
Iosif mine
The Iosif Mine can be visited through the balconies carved in salt. It is next to the Franz Josef Gallery. This mine is a conical chamber 112 metres (367 ft) deep and 67 metres (220 ft) wide at the base. Because of its shape and lack of communication with the other major mining points, this mine has a powerful echo, leading to it being called the Echoes Room.

The octagonal room hosts a winch called crivac or gepel, rudimentary machinery used to lift salt rocks on the surface. It dates from 1881. This machine replaced another, smaller in size, that was installed in 1864. It is the only machine of its kind, in all the salt mines in Romania and probably in Europe, that remains in its original location.
This is a conical mine (bell mine). Salt mining in this type of room left behind underground halls of impressive dimensions: 90 metres (300 ft) height and 87 metres (285 ft) diameter. The depth from the mouth of the shafts to the base of the mine is 112 metres (367 ft). A cascade of salt, an underground lake, stalactites, and salt efflorescences complete the inert equilibrium of the giant bell. The underground lake is between 0.5 and 8 metres (1.6 and 26.2 ft) deep and occupies about 80 percent of the operating room hearth area. In the center of the lake there is an island formed from residual low-grade salt deposited here after 1880, the year when salt mining ended in this room.
42 metres (138 ft) deep, 50 metres (160 ft) wide, and 80 metres (260 ft) long, Rudolf mine is the last place where salt was mined in Turda. Through the compartment of access, 172 steps lead to the mine hearth.[10] On the walls of each of the 13 floors is marked the year when the respective level was opened. Formed over the years on the northwestern ceiling are salt stalactites, some even 3 metres (10 ft) long. The panoramic elevator offers tourists an overview of the whole mine.
