TULUM: It's A Love/Hate Relationship (scams, seaweed + pot holes)
I find it odd how the most expensive and luxurious place in Mexico has so many problems. Tulum has a reputation of being a very glamorous destination with white sad beaches, crystal clear water, amazing restaurants and nightlife. But the reality is not quite what it seems, especially if you are traveling anytime outside of December-March. While I still overall had a great time and didn't break the budget, I would have been sorely disappointed if I had chosen to splurge on the beach front resorts this time of year. Make sure you understand what you're getting yourself into before you go because there are a lot of beautiful places in Mexico that are nowhere this expensive or have these kind of problems. Welcome to Tulum! This is a pre-Columbian Mayan walled city serving as a major port and trading center for Cobá, in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. In this travel vlog, we are going to explore Tulum, the history and swim in the beautiful Caribbean beach in the Yucatan.
The ruins are some of the most picturesque ancient ruins in Mexico. Tulum is situated on cliffs along the Yucatán Peninsula overlooking the Caribbean Sea in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico.
The Maya spanned 3,000 years of civilization. Tulum was built during the end of the Mayan period during the 13th to15th centuries as one of the last major sites and managed to survive about 70 years after the Spanish began occupying Mexico. Today it is one of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites, and a popular site for tourists as it is only a 2 hour drive from Cancún.
