What to do in Japan in Winter

I spent a week traveling around central Japan, and here are some things you can do in Nagano Prefecture in the winter!

In part 1 of my Japan winter series, I visited the beautiful mountains in Chino and Komagane city in Nagano.

The views at the top of Mt. Kurumayama and Senjojiki Cirque were breathtaking and best of all you can get to the top easily by a ski lift or cable car.
For those who want more of a workout, it's a great starting place to hike to the other mountains in the Japan alps!

Stay tuned for part 2 where I share with you what you can do around the city and a hidden gem in Nagano!

A: Around 18 days. But I would say it's doable in 2 weeks. If you want more time to explore then 3 weeks should be more than adequate.

A: I would say 3-5 days in Kyoto and Osaka. Nara 1-2 days. At least 4-6 days in Tokyo but the more the better.

Q: How much did it cost?
A: Excluding hotels + airplane tickets we had a budget of around 2000 USD

Q: Is there vegan restaurant options in Japan?
A: Yes, I found plenty, and most restaurants offer vegan-friendly meals

Q: Which month did you go?
A: We visited in July but I would recommend visiting in either the Autumn or Spring season

Q: Where did you stay overnight?
A: You can find links to the different accommodations above + alternatives.

Fukui: Tourists Should Know These Places!

I’ve traveled Japan for over 12 years, and I never thought Fukui was a place I would plan to visit. It's far from home, not close to any of the major tourist cities...but let me tell you this place is incredible.

I came to Fukui for the $15,000 House in Japan video with Ralph, and while I was there he took me on an adventure that would change the way I look at Japan forever.

There are parts of this trip hit me at my core, and I think that this is a place everyone should visit. I hope you enjoy joining me on this adventure as much as I had exploring Fukui!

We went to Hikone Castle + ate the best roast beef bowl in Shiga + cycling around Tsuruga + SOBAAAA!

Konnichiwa, everyone!

This is day 2 of our summer train travel journey to 5 lesser known prefectures in Japan. We left Gifu to visit Shiga! At Shiga, we saw Hikone Castle and ate a SUPER DELICIOUS roast beef bowl! After that, we went straight to Tsuruga where we rented motorized bikes and made our way through the city. Our final stop was Fukui City in Fukui and I was ecstatic by the amount of dinosaurs in the area! My dreams came true!
