What to do in Japan in Winter
I spent a week traveling around central Japan, and here are some things you can do in Nagano Prefecture in the winter!
In part 1 of my Japan winter series, I visited the beautiful mountains in Chino and Komagane city in Nagano.
The views at the top of Mt. Kurumayama and Senjojiki Cirque were breathtaking and best of all you can get to the top easily by a ski lift or cable car.
For those who want more of a workout, it's a great starting place to hike to the other mountains in the Japan alps!

ロープウェイの窓越しに通り過ぎていく自然の風景、降車して山道を歩き、旅行者が辿り着いたのは筑波山の女体山頂、そして眼下に見えるのは科学技術と豊かな自然を有する国際的な研究学園都市、茨城県つくば市。はるかに広がる景色を楽しんだ旅行者は山を降り、日本の古き良き時代の雰囲気を残す神郡の街並みを歩きます。つくば市はラーメン激戦区としても知られており、旅行者は昼食にラーメンを堪能した後、つくば市谷田部郷土資料館を訪れ、館内を見学し、江戸時代の発明家、飯塚伊賀七の作り出した「から くり時計」と出会います。タイムスリップしたかの様に次に訪れたのはつくばロボットフェスティバル。ここで様々な ロボットを見学し、近未来の技術を体験した後、筑波宇宙センター（JAXA）を訪れ、施設を見学します。夜になり、つくばセンター周辺の街明かりの中を歩く旅行者はふと足を止め、ライトアップされたエキスポセンターのロケット眺め、つくば市の旅を締めくくります。

According to Tsukuba san legend, thousands of years ago, a deity descended from the heavens and asked two mountains for a place to spend the night.
With its great summit and almost perfect cone, Mt. Fuji refused, believing with pride and arrogance that it does not need the deity's blessings.
Mt. Tsukuba, on the other hand, humbly welcomed the honored guest, even offering food and water.
Today, Mt. Fuji is a cold, lonely, and barren mountain, while Mt. Tsukuba bursts with vegetation and is filled with colors as the seasons change.
Ancient chronicles say that the sacred progenitors of the Japanese race are enshrined here, the male deity, Izanagi-no-Mikoto, at Nantai san, and the female deity, Izanami-no-Mikoto, at Nyotai san. Legends say that the two deities wed and gave birth to other deities, and even to Japan herself.

In Kanto region(including Tokyo), there’re a lot of beautiful spots to visit.
In my impression, Ibaraki is not really famous for people from other countries.
But in fact, it has many hidden spots which attract travelers such as Hitachi seaside park(especially “Kokia” in Autumn), Oarai Isosaki Shrine(floating Torii on the pacific ocean), Mt Tsukuba(we didn’t visit at this time though), and so on.
In short, you cannot get around the whole prefecture just for two days, which means it’s so attractive like that.
In this video, I’ll show you guys one of the ways to enjoy traveling in Ibaraki with a couple of days.

茨城の秋の風物詩、コキアを見に行ってきました。時期的にギリギリセーフでしたが、真っ赤に染まった美しい絶景を眺める事ができました。
他にもトレーラーホテルでのグランピングや、大洗海岸沿いでのドライブなどなど、茨城の魅力をたっぷり堪能。
茨城は、他県と比べて有名な観光地が多くない印象でしたが、2日では全然回りきれず。。ぜひまた遊びに来たいと思います！
