Nagano Travel Guide
A travel guide for visiting Nagano Japan. Highlights include: Getting to Nagano from Tokyo, Nagano Station, Zenkoji Temple, Cherry Blossoms, and the Snow Monkey Park. Nagano, now connected by a new Shinkansen line, is only a 90 minute trip from Tokyo Station. Although most people only know of Nagano as a former home to the winter Olympics, it is a great day trip from Tokyo, or over-night stay to visit the Nagano Snow Monkey Park.
While you are in Nagano, make sure to their some of their food specialties: Soba Noodles, Apples, and Miso Ice Cream. The third floor of JR Nagano Station has a great selection of local eateries.

Togakushi Shrine & a ONCE EVERY 7 YEARS Festival!!! ???? | Nagano Prefecture | Japan Travel Vlog
The Togakushi Shrine is the most sacred Shinto shrine in Nagano and even Japan. Built deep inside the mountains, it is associated with one of the most famous legends in Japanese mythology involving Amaterasu, the Sun goddess and highest deity in Shintoism. However, during my visit here I also got SUPER lucky, and by PURE coincidence I was able to witness a Shinto ritual that few tourists have ever seen, as it only takes place once every 7 years…
The Togakushi region is also famous for its handmade soba, or buckwheat noodles, so definitely try it out at one of the many soba restaurants near the Middle Shrine when you’re here!
How to get to Togakushi Shrine
Togakushi Shrine can be accessed by public transport from Nagano Station. Go to the Alpico Bus Terminal across the street from Nagano Station and buy a ticket from the vending machine (English available). You can choose to go to the Lower, Middle, or Inner Shrine with each one increasing slightly in price (¥1,250 - ¥1,350).

安曇野のシンボルとも言える常念岳を中心に、北アルプスの山々が美しく輝く冬晴れの日、安曇野市内を東西に横切る県道をジグザグに走ってみました。
安曇野市は、2005年10月に旧南安曇郡北部の町村（豊科町、穂高町、堀金村、三郷村）及び東筑摩郡の一部（明科町）が合併して誕生しました。美しい景色と清らかな水、美術館など充実した文化芸術施設が自慢で、毎年多くの観光客が訪れます。また、県下第二の都市、松本市への通勤通学にも便利なベッドタウンとしても人気があります。
安曇野のイメージと言えば、のどかな田園風景と北アルプスの山並みですが、このイメージを守るために行政・住民による景観形成の取り組みが行われ、現在は長野県でも最多となる25件の景観形成住民協定が締結されています。
今回は、豊科大天井岳線、柏原穂高線、小岩岳穂高停車場線の3路線を中心に収録しています。序盤の豊科大天井岳線は正面に常念岳、大天井岳（おてんしょうだけ）を望む絶景ロードで、一部区間は住民協定により景観づくりが行われています。

Kamikochi is a scenic valley in Nagano Prefecture, on an altitude of about 1,500 meters above sea level. It is a part of Chubu Sangaku National Park and located in between the popular tourist cities of Matsumoto and Takayama. The spectacular hiking route on the flat area along the Azusa river is about 4 km long. You can enjoy the walk from Taisho Pond to the Kappa Bridge, the symbol of Kamikochi, with only two 2 hours. But believe me, everywhere you look is so beautiful that you wish to stay there forever!
