Life in the Coldest place on earth, the region of Yakutia (Republic of Sakha), Siberia, Russia, & the Worlds coldest city, Yakutsk. We traveled to Yakutsk in the middle of winter to find out how people here survive in the toughest climate in the world. Little did we know, we would manage to time it so perfect that we would actually arrive during the coldest day in the last 20 years (-63'C / '81.5'F).
The lowest air temperature ever recorded in this region is -96°F (-71°C). The coldest town is Oymyakon, which is also in Yakutia, Siberia.
Life up here in the coldest city and region on planet earth is tough, and winter is long, however, people have lived here for centuries. The Yakut (Sakha) people have called this region home for generations and their unique culture & attitude to life has helped them thrive here in cold tundra of Yakutia, Siberia.

What food do people eat in Yakutia, Siberia. We headed out in to Yakutsk, Russia, the coldest city on Planet Earth, with our local friend Maria to find out more about Yakut (Sakha) cuisine and culture. This region is almost completely covered in Permafrost, meaning growing staple crops here is near on impossible (due to the fact the soil is basically ice). Therefore the food here in the World's coldest region is mainly based on meat and dairy, with few fruits or vegetables. However the ecology of Yakutia is incredible meaning the quality of the products is so high, you can eat nearly everything raw and people here do exactly that, from raw fish, to every part of the meat - including liver and intestine! Life in this beautiful region of the world may seem difficult, but the locals love it and love their cuisine alike, let's explore it!

Darjeeling is located at an average elevation of 2042m. Distance between Siliguri and Darjeeling is nearly 61km. One can go there by car, share jeep or bus. where hermitage palace is the second-largest art museum in the world. winter palace was also the state residence of the royal Romanov dynasty. where Tsar Nicholas, TsaWrina Alexandra, and Rasputin changed Russian history and gave a reason for a Russian revolution. Hermitage museum is no doubt is the best place to visit in Saint Petersburg. I have also given the reference of the NetFlix series, to have more insight into the story of the last tsars.
