Mikimoto Pearl Island - TOBA
Did you know that the first company to successfully cultivate pearls, Mikomoto, has a museum in Mie Prefecture? This is the birthplace of cultured pearls in Japan. The entire island is a theme park designed by Mikimoto Pearls to pass on the great work of Kokichi Mikimoto, the founder of the company, to future generations.
In addition to the museum and store, there are demonstrations by the traditional ama sea divers and a collection of natural pearls from around the world.

Q: How long was the trip?
A: Around 18 days. But I would say it's doable in 2 weeks. If you want more time to explore then 3 weeks should be more than adequate.
Q: How many days do I need in each city?
A: I would say 3-5 days in Kyoto and Osaka. Nara 1-2 days. At least 4-6 days in Tokyo but the more the better.
Q: How much did it cost?
A: Excluding hotels + airplane tickets we had a budget of around 2000 USD
Q: Is there vegan restaurant options in Japan?
A: Yes, I found plenty, and most restaurants offer vegan-friendly meals
Q: Which month did you go?
A: We visited in July but I would recommend visiting in either the Autumn or Spring season

Toba, Japan for a day with Diamond Princess Cruises
In this video, we will travel to Toba, Japan.
We will show you what there is to do in Toba, Japan.
We visited Toba during our cruise to Korea with Diamond Princess Cruises, it was one of the ports we stopped at.
Toba is located in Central Japan and is a fairly small city with only 20,000 locals living there.
There are ruins and castles near Toba that you can access by tour or bus.
We didn’t do the ruins, we explored the small town and some of the surrounding mountains and it was absolutely beautiful.
Unless you are on a cruise, we probably wouldn’t recommend you go out of your way to visit Toba.
Japan has so many great cities and things to do that this is likely not going to be on the top or even on your list unless your on a cruise and it happens to be stopping there.
With that said, I will say again that it is beautiful, the islands and the waters surrounding Toba are clean and covered in beautiful cherry blossoms.

TRAVEL JAPAN VLOG | Toba City & Mikimoto Pearl Island 鳥羽市 #6
Japan has always been one of my favorite countries to travel to whether for vacation or adventures. Well, mostly vacations. Since I have a huge fan of the Japanese delicacies and hot springs, Japan became a no brainer when it came to this long weekend in the autumn weather. Nagoya jumped to my parents as the obvious choice due to its distance from the tourists in both Tokyo and Kyoto. We prefer to spend the vacation where there are fewer crowds and trying to steal a piece of peaceful quietness from the local Japanese towns.
We travelled from the nearby towns from Yoro to Toba so to avoid the tourist groups in downtown Nagoya. Yoro was remote and beautiful with its view from above the mountain, while Toba was close to the ocean with its fame from pearl harvesting. Want to know more? Well stay tuned!

Join me as I start the day with some Buddhist meditation at Kinpusenji Temple, I tried some crazy clear Japanese banana milk, followed by visiting the Ama hut & divers. We then visited Shima Marineland and closed up the day on the Spanish boat Kashikojima Espana for a trip around Ago Bay followed by an almost $400 dinner!
