बिहार के प्राचीन शिवलिंगों में शुमार रोहतास जिले के गुप्तेश्वर धाम गुफा स्थित शिवलिंग की महिमा का बखान आदिकाल से ही होता आ रहा है. मान्यता है कि प्राकृतिक सुषमा से सुसज्जित वादियों में स्थित इस गुफा में जलाभिषेक करने के बाद भक्तों की सभी मन्नतें पूरी हो जाती हैं।
जनश्रुतियों के मुताबिक कैलाश पर्वत पर मां पार्वती के साथ विराजमान भगवान शिव ने जब भस्मासुर की तपस्या से खुश होकर उसे किसी के सिर पर हाथ रखते ही भष्म करने की शक्ति का वरदान दिया था. भस्मासुर मां पार्वती के सौंदर्य पर मोहित होकर शिव से मिले वरदान की परीक्षा लेने उन्हीं के सिर पर हाथ रखने के लिए दौड़ा. वहां से भागकर भोले यहीं की गुफा के गुप्त स्थान में छुपे थे.
भगवान विष्णु से शिव की यह विवशता देखी नहीं गई और उन्होंने मोहिनी रूप धारण कर भस्मासुर का नाश किया. उसके बाद गुफा के अंदर छुपे भोले बाहर निकले. सासाराम के वरिष्ठ पत्रकार विनोद तिवारी कहते हैं कि शाहाबाद गजेटियर में दर्ज फ्रांसिस बुकानन नामक अंग्रेज विद्वान की टिप्पणियों के अनुसार, गुफा में जलने के कारण उसका आधा हिस्सा काला होने के सबूत आज भी देखने को मिलते हैं।
गुफा में गहन अंधेरा होता है, बिना कृत्रिम प्रकाश के भीतर जाना संभव नहीं है. पहाड़ी पर स्थित इस पवित्र गुफा का द्वार 18 फीट चौड़ा और 12 फीट ऊंचा मेहराबनुमा है. गुफा में लगभग 363 फीट अंदर जाने पर बहुत बड़ा गड्ढा है, जिसमें सालभर पानी रहता है. श्रद्धालु इसे 'पातालगंगा' कहते हैं. गुफा के अंदर प्राचीन काल के दुर्लभ शैलचित्र आज भी मौजूद हैं.
इसके कुछ आगे जाने के बाद शिवलिंग के दर्शन होते हैं. गुफा के अंदर अवस्थित प्राकृतिक शिवलिंग पर हमेशा ऊपर से पानी टपकता है।
'रोहतास के इतिहास' सहित कई पुस्तकों के लेखक श्यामसुंदर तिवारी का कहना है कि गुफा के नाचघर और घुड़दौड़ मैदान के बगल में स्थित पताल गंगा के पास दीवार पर उत्कीर्ण शिलालेख, जिसे श्रद्धालु 'ब्रह्मा के लेख' के नाम से जानते हैं, को पढ़ने से संभव है, इस गुफा के कई रहस्य खुल जाएं.
तिवारी ने कहा कि केंद्र सरकार को चाहिए कि पुरातत्ववेत्ताओं और भाषाविदों की मदद से अबतक अपाठ्य रही इस लिपि को पढ़वाया जाए, ताकि इस गुफा के रहस्य पर पड़ा पर्दा हट सके।

Telhar waterfall is a popular waterfall that’s found in the Kaimur district in Bihar. This waterfall is on the Rohtas plateau which is in close proximity to the Durgavati River on Bhabua.
The waterfall is around 32kms from the Bhabua area and around 47 km from the Mohania area. There are various attractions near the fall including the Maa Mundeshwari Temple which is located 28 kms from it. This is one of the oldest and most prominent temples in the area.

Nearest airport is now - pakyong 31 kms away.
Nearest Airport Bagdogra:, if you want to first go to Darjeeling 123 kms
Nearest Railway station: Jalpaiguri: 120 kms.
Pakyong is the new airport in Sikkim at a distance of 29 kms from Gangtok but it was not operational when we went to sikkim.

Exclusive taxi from Bagdogra airport or NJP station to Gangtok: cost Rs 2500
Share cab you can get from Siliguri at cost of Rs 400 per person, you can even get a AC bus from siliguri to Gangtok at cost of Rs 400 per person, only thing frequency of bus is one every 2 hours.
You can take a auto from airport or NJP station to reach silliguri is not far: about 40 minutes cost Rs 150.
