2010 Belgium/Switzerland Missions Trip
Calvary Baptist Church sent out a group of 10 to Europe to minister alongside of our missionaries the Webers. We had the privilege of helping with a children's outreach and also a ladies outreach. It was a special joy to get to know some of the people of the Niewerkerken church. We finished our trip at the EBM European MIssions Conference in Beatenburg, Switzerland where we lead the childrens programs each day, as well as, had the blessing of ministering to the adults during the worship sessions for the conference. Each of us were challenged in different ways and are so grateful for the incredible opportunity God allowed us to experience.

De Tuinen van Hoegaarden - Het park van de stilte - reportage van Catherine Boone en Tine de Jong
Welkom in de Tuinen van Hoegaarden gelegen in het Hageland in de Belgische provincie Vlaams-Brabant. Onlangs hebben vriendin Tine de Jong en ik deze deze tuin bezocht. Het is een absolute aanrader wanneer jij in de buurt bent. Hier vind jij rust in de kleuren en ruimte om te bewegen. Deze tuinen staan ook bekend om hun bloembollenverzameling. Daarnaast maak jij kennis met een enorm gevarieerde planten- en bloemenverzameling: een 60-tal in de vijver drijvende Agapanthussen met witte, blauwe en paarse tinten, schitterende struiken, ravissante rozen en de vaste planten die het hele jaar door geuren en kleuren aan het park geven. Denk maar aan de papavers, irissen en daglelies. Bijzonder is ook de centrale laan die van het Kapittelhuys dwars door het park naar de Tuin van Heden loopt.
Er zijn verschillende tuinen aangelegd die elk een eigen thema hebben, wat het hier zo bijzonder maakt. De hagen geven de laan ook een statig karakter. Naast een dierbare beuk en een prachtige libanonceder ( of Libanese ceder ) omgetoverd tot een Vivara Vogelboom kruisen eeuwenoude en jonge bomen elkanders wegen. Ontdek hier wat er hier zoal te zien is. Wij hopen dat je geniet van al onze ontmoetingen.
Visit Hoegaarden and discover the gardens near the Saint Gorgonius church. The tower in white Gobertange stone dominates from afar the view of this village celebrated for its beer. The church is recognised as the largest Rococo one in the country. The gardens of Hoegaarden are well known, especially for its wide variety of flower forms and colours. All kind of Agapanthus, papavers or poppies, roses and different plants of the genus Iris are growing during the year. Exceptional trees, several bushes and hedges are also popular. Het ringvormige gebied wordt soms onderscheiden in de noordrand, oostrand, zuidrand en westrand. De zes faciliteitengemeenten waar de verfransing van Vlaanderen speelt, kennen beperkte taalrechten voor Franstaligen. Alle 19 gemeenten maken deel uit van de provincie Vlaams-Brabant en behoren (met uitzondering van Tervuren dat tot het arrondissement Leuven behoort) tot het arrondissement Halle-Vilvoorde (en dus tot het voormalige kiesarrondissement B-H-V). Hoewel de randgemeenten geen bestuurlijk of administratief geheel vormen, genieten ze vanwege de Vlaamse overheden wel een bijzondere belangstelling en sommige gunsten, omdat ze door de nabijheid van het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest te maken hebben met een aantal specifieke uitdagingen op vlak van verkeer, ruimtelijke ordening, internationalisering, grondspeculatie, milieuvervuiling en taalpolitiek. De Vlaamse regering neemt specifieke maatregelen om de verfransing van haar grondgebied tegen te gaan.
De 19 gemeenten grenzen aan een Brusselse gemeente of aan een randgemeente met taalfaciliteiten: zes faciliteitengemeenten Drogenbos, Kraainem, Linkebeek, Sint-Genesius-Rode, Wemmel en Wezembeek-Oppem en de gemeenten Asse, Beersel, Dilbeek, Grimbergen, Hoeilaart, Machelen, Meise, Merchtem, Overijse, Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, Tervuren, Vilvoorde en Zaventem. Volgens een ruimere definitie horen ook volgende gemeenten bij de brede Rand: Affligem, Gooik, Halle, Huldenberg, Kampenhout, Kortenberg, Lennik, Liedekerke, Pepingen, Steenokkerzeel en Ternat

-Yes, it is. People are very warm, nice and accommodating. Most of them don’t speak good English but anyone would love to help.
WHEN IS THE BEST MONTH TO TRAVEL?
-For me, since I don’t really like cold/winter weather, May is the best month since it’s spring. But for many Armenians, they’d suggest visiting on September which is autumn to see more color of the place.
WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON ARMENIAN FOOD/DRINKS YOU SHOULDN'T MISS?
-Armenian Pork BBQ and Kebabs
-Lavash (Armenian bread)
-Their own version of COFFEE

HOW IS THE COST OF LIVING? IS IT EXPENSIVE?
-It is expensive if you live, work and earns in Armenia. But for tourists, since we are earning different currency which is definitely higher than AMD, it won't be really expensive if you'll convert their money to the currency we're using. Just don’t get shocked if you’ll see thousands worth of items coz that’s how they count their money. Every centavo matters.
IS VISA REQUIRED?
-For Filipinos, visa on arrival is needed.

-Yerevan (capital city).

1. If you really want to explore Armenia, I’d suggest you call Arman and arrange your itinerary. Armenia is just a small country full of mountains. Tourist spots are scattered everywhere and will take long distance drive to see them all.
2. If you are planning to visit Azerbaijan, make sure not to go to Nagorno Karabakh. Wanna know why? Google can help you, PM me or ask them when you reach there.
3. Try to get a personal encounter with its local people to make your travel more memorable. ;)
