SafetyWing (best for younger travelers + digital nomads):

*I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. BUT you cannot purchase SafetyWing WHILE in Canada or USA. You can only purchase once already abroad. Hey Mondo is more expensive but offers a higher level of coverage including plans that have trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Hey Mondo would be the better insurance to use if you need travel medical insurance when applying for a visa. Both companies cover covid. I am an affiliate for both companies, but I pay for my own policies.*

Santa Teresa is a historic neighborhood located in the hills of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Known for its winding streets, colonial-style houses, and bohemian atmosphere, Santa Teresa is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
One of the most iconic features of Santa Teresa is the famous bonde (tram) that runs through the neighborhood. The bonde is a historic trolley car that has been in operation since the late 19th century and offers a unique and scenic way to explore the neighborhood.

Santa Teresa is also home to a number of cultural institutions, including the Museum of the Republic, which is housed in a former palace and features exhibits on Brazilian history and art. The neighborhood is also known for its vibrant nightlife scene, with a number of bars and music venues to choose from.

The neighborhood is also home to many artists, writers, and intellectuals, which gives it a bohemian and cultural vibe. The narrow and steep streets of Santa Teresa are lined with colorful colonial-style houses, and many of them have been turned into guesthouses, hostels, and small hotels.

Despite its charm and lively atmosphere, Santa Teresa has also had its share of safety issues, particularly related to crime and theft. Visitors should take precautions, such as keeping valuables hidden and being aware of their surroundings.

Overall, Santa Teresa is a must-see destination in Rio de Janeiro, known for its picturesque streets, vibrant culture, and bohemian atmosphere. It's an ideal place to explore the colonial architecture and history, while also enjoying the lively cultural scene and the stunning views of the city.

Prague's Worst Tourist Scams and Traps You Need to AVOID !

As a local who has lived in Prague for years, we know all the common tourist scams and traps to avoid in order to have a smooth and enjoyable trip to the city. In this video, we'll take you on a tour of Prague's Old Town and share the top 10 things you should avoid doing as a tourist, including buying overpriced souvenirs, eating at touristy restaurants, using sketchy ATMs and money exchanges, and falling victim to various scammers. So be careful and don't do these things in this video

But don't worry, we won't just leave you with a list of things to avoid. We'll also give you alternative ideas of what to do in Prague so you can make the most of your trip without losing your money. From visiting the iconic Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, to exploring the beautiful city of Cesky Krumlov, there are plenty of amazing experiences to be had in the Czech Republic.

So if you're planning a visit to Prague and want to avoid the tourist traps and scams, be sure to watch this video for our honest and helpful advice. We'll also share some tips on what to do and see in the city, as well as some lesser-known gems that are worth a visit. Don't miss out on all the amazing things Prague has to offer – watch this video and make the most of your trip!

A possibility to support our channel :

First on our list is buying overpriced souvenirs from shiny shops in the Old Town. These shops may look appealing, but you'll end up paying a lot more for souvenirs than you would elsewhere. Instead, head to the Havelske Market where you'll find plenty of souvenirs at more reasonable prices. Plus, shopping at the market is always a fun experience!

Next, be careful when using ATMs and money exchange places. Some places may offer you a lower exchange rate or try to scam you by offering rubles instead of Czech crowns. Make sure to shop around and don't go for the first place you see in the Prague Old Town Square. Look for bank ATMs instead, and you'll get a fair exchange rate. Also avoid Euro net machines or written atm in big text. Look for Czech bank atms & u can use card in most shops and places

Another scam to watch out for is street performers and costume guys who will try to take a picture with you and then demand payment. These types of scams are now illegal, but you may still come across them in the city. Just avoid taking pictures with them altogether.

If you're a smoker, be aware that smoking is not allowed indoors in Czech bars and restaurants. You'll have to smoke outside, so make sure to dress accordingly. And while we're on the subject of restaurants, avoid the touristy ones in the center of the city. They're often overpriced and not as good as the smaller, local restaurants.

When it comes to tipping, make sure to leave at least 10%. Customer service can vary in Prague, but tipping is a good way to show your appreciation for good service.

And if you have a sweet tooth, don't buy candy from the touristy shops.

Avoid thai massage - ruins the city center

Living with a rural family in a small village in Armenia ????????

Join my lovely Patreon community for behind-the-scenes content!
Instagram:

6 weeks into my exploration of the Caucasus region, I was coming to the last leg of my journey. After crossing the Georgia/Armenia border by overnight train and spending a few days in the capital city of Yerevan, I was eager to experience rural Armenia. In my opinion, the best way to truly understand a country is to visit its villages and spend time with a local family.

I had the opportunity to spend a few days in a village called Bjni and stayed with a lovely agricultural family. I learned about how they live off the land and even celebrated my host's birthday with his family while attempting to overcome language barriers and connect with this wonderful Armenian family.

This type of destination isn't glamorous when compared to what you would see on regular social media. This village would often be overlooked and staying with a local family with language barriers wouldn't be a tourist's number one choice. I came intending to immerse myself in the local culture, and people and learn about different ways of living. The fact that we didnt speak each other's language and had never met definitely put me out of my comfort zone.

I didn't know what to expect, what the video would be like or the kind of structure it would be. It was all spontaneous. I simply told myself to trust this process, observe, and be patient. Oftentimes the biggest challenges one could have comes from our way of thinking. At that very moment, my sense of doubt came from a place of not knowing and exploring the uncertainty. If I'd have chosen to follow and believe that sense of doubt, nothing would've come out of that experience. I am very grateful that the family welcomed me with open arms as it was such a heartwarming and humbling experience. I decided to see beauty in simplicity.

KISLOVODSK THE CITY OF CURE

Kislovodsk is a spa city in Stavropol Krai, Russia, in the North Caucasus region of Russia which is located between the Black and Caspian Seas.
This pleasant spa town has been a popular destination for Russian holidaymakers since the early 19th century when the Romantic writers Mikhail Lermontov and Alexander Pushkin spent time in its verdant parks and rugged countryside.
The name means ‘Sour Waters’, but Kislovodsk has a decidedly sweet vibe. Despite the many tourists and sanatoriums scattered about, Kislovodsk remains relaxing to the core. The landscape is green, the many gardens well-manicured, and the air, at nearly 1km above sea level, is crisp.

Vienna, German Vienna, Czech Videň, Hungarian Bécs, city and Bundesland (federal state), capital of Austria. Of the country's nine states, Vienna is the smallest in area, but the largest in population.

Modern Vienna has undergone several historical incarnations. From 1558 to 1918 it was an imperial city — until 1806 the seat of the Holy Roman Empire and then the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1918, it became the capital of the truncated, landlocked central European country that emerged from World War I as a republic. From 1938 to 1945, Austria was part of Adolf Hitler's Greater Germany, and Vienna became Greater Vienna, reflecting the Nazi revision of the city's boundaries. In the decade following World War II, Austria was occupied by British, French, American and Soviet forces, and Vienna was divided into five zones, including an international zone, covering the Innere Stadt (Inner City) . In 1955, the State Treaty, by which the country regained its independence, was signed with the four occupying powers, and Vienna once again became the capital of a sovereign Austria.

Vienna is among the least pampered of the great old Western European capitals. Its central hub, the Innere Stadt, is easily managed on foot and by public transport. In a city renowned for its architecture, many of Vienna's urban outlooks remain largely as designed over several centuries by imperial gardeners and architects. The skyline is still dominated by the spire of St. Stephen's Cathedral and the giant wheel in the city's main park, the Prater. The city suffered great damage in the last months of World War II, and much reconstruction was done after the war. However, the character of Vienna as a whole remains much the same as in the years before 1914.

Viennese Lebenskunst (the art of living) has survived the changes of rulers and times. In Vienna it is still possible to live at almost the same pace and in almost the same style as a century ago. The same music is played in the same reconstructed concert halls, and a successful theater or opera still stimulates lively conversation. One can drink the same sour local wines in the taverns on the edge of town, eat the same mountains of whipped cream at Sacher's and Demel's, and taste the same infinite varieties of coffee in countless cafes. Thick wool suits and coats in shades of green, gray or brown loden cloth and colorful dirndl dresses can still be seen. It is even possible for tourists, and others on festive occasions, to ride in a traditional fiacre, the two-horse carriage driven by a coachman wearing a bowler hat.

Austria's capital has avoided many of the problems — financial crises, social unrest, urban decay — that plague other European cities. Its people enjoy an enlightened health and welfare system that dates back to the reforms of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Joseph II in the 18th century. A city of green parks with ponds, cafes and bands playing; opulent shops and elegant shopping streets; crowded banks, bookstores, and theaters; and boulevards for leisurely strolls—Vienna is a refreshing distillation of human energy and imagination.
