THERME ERDING (The Largest Thermal Bath Complex in Europe)
Therme Erding is the largest thermal bath complex in Europe. It is 30 minutes northeast of Munich by car and is visited by around 4000 people every day.
The baths contain four distinct areas: the waterslide area Galaxy, the Thermenparadies, the Vital-Oase and the Saunaparadies.
The waterslide park Galaxy is covered by a 25-meter (82 ft) high metal dome, which can be half-opened in the summer months. There are 20 waterslides, one of which is the 2nd longest tube slide in Europe at 281 meters long. The slides are divided into three different levels of difficulty: Family, Action, and X-Treme.
Huge expansion work is planned for 2012, to the east of the current Galaxy (towards Altenerding), and will have ten new slides with a combined length of over 2,750 meters (9,020 ft)
The Thermenparadies has a surface area of 27,500 square meters (296,000 sq ft) (9,000 square meters (97,000 sq ft) interior and 18,500 square meters (199,000 sq ft) thermal gardens). The interior is covered by a glass dome which can be half-opened in the summer months.
The interior stands out, with a 1,450 square meters (15,600 sq ft) spa pool, pool bar, grotto, waterfall, neck showers, massage jets, Jacuzzi beds, and current channels. Quiet rooms, a massage area, health baths, a steam room, a bio-sauna, a children's area, and a restaurant are all located around the pool. The thermal garden is home to an outside pool that joins directly to the large indoor spa pool, with massage beds as well as sulfur mineral springs, a sandy beach, a beach bar, a beach volleyball pitch, and outdoor slides.
The Vital-Oase is available only for the use of those aged 16 or over. There is a spa pool with a pool bar, a sulfur mineral spring, clothed saunas, quiet rooms, and a restaurant. In September 2008, three health pools were opened, which are enriched with minerals from the Dead Sea, such as selenium and calcium.
The nudist sauna complex, available only for the use of those over the age of 16, offers 25 different saunas, two steam rooms, and multiple beauty treatment parlors in an area of 26,900 square meters (290,000 sq ft) (12,900 square meters (139,000 sq ft) interior and 14,000 square meters (150,000 sq ft) sauna garden).
The Saunaparadies's main building lies beneath a 60-by-40-meter (200 by 130 ft) large glass roof which can be fully opened in nice weather. In this building, there are Jacuzzi beds, 1,200 square meters (13,000 sq ft), 34 °C (93 °F) swimming pools, whirlpools, neck showers, and other outside pools. The outer pool is surrounded by three external saunas and a sauna lake. Of the rest, seven saunas are located in the main building, along with a meditation pool and a ladies-only area.

Regionales aus der Mark Brandenburg: Templin - Perle der Uckermark
Die Stadt in der Uckermark liegt im Naturraum der Templiner Platte. Südlich von ihr erstreckt sich das bedeutsame Biosphärenreservat Schorfheide.
Ihr Wappen trägt den goldbewährten roten Adler auf silbernem Felde, bestreut mit 14 grünen Kleeblättern.
Für die Herkunft des Namens „Templin“ vermutet man das germanische Wort timpen, tempen oder tempel, dass wohl so viel wie „spitzer Hügel“ bedeutet.
Seit dem 8. Jahrhundert wurde die Gegend um Templin von den Retschanen einem westslawischen Volk bewohnt.
In Folge des Wendenkreuzzuges 1147 fiel das Gebiet unter die Herrschaft des Askaniers Albrecht des Bären.
Um 1230 erwarben die askanischen Markgrafen Johann I. und Otto III. das Gebiet des nördlichen Barnims, einer geographischen Besonderheit im östlichen Brandenburg und sicherten sich so einen wichtigen Handelskreuzpunkt Richtung Stettin und Hamburg.
Templin verfügte durch den Templiner See mit seinem Abfluss von mehreren Seiten über einen natürlichen Schutz vor Angreifern.
Um 1300 wurde der natürliche Schutzwall aus Wasser, Sumpf und Wald durch tiefe Gräben und einer Wehranlage aus Feldsteinen ergänzt. Der Bau der Befestigung dauerte 100 Jahre.
Nach ihrer Fertigstellung war der unregelmäßige ovale Mauerring ganze 1.735 Meter lang. Die Mauer ist 6 bis 7 Meter hoch und an ihrer Krone etwa 80 Zentimeter breit. Die Steine sind sorgfältig geschichtet. Es gab keine Zinnen und keinen Wehrgang. Deren Aufgaben übernahmen die Wieckhäuser.
Eine Besonderheit Templins ist die seltene halbrunde Form aller Wiecken, die alle 25 - 30 Meter in die Feldsteinmauer eingebaut waren. In den oberen Etagen befinden sich Schießscharten nach allen Seiten und nach unten, sodass es keine toten Winkel gab.
Zwei Wiecken wurden zu Rundtürmen umgebaut.
Einer von ihnen ist der Pulverturm und der andere der Eulenturm.
Sein alter Name Hungerturm und die in sechs Metern Höhe liegende Tür verweisen auf seine Nutzung als Schuldgefängnis.
Templin mit ihrem mittelalterlichen Charme und der Seenreichen Umgebung ist mittlerweile zu einem touristischen Hotspot gewachsen und trägt zurecht den Titel: Perle der Uckermark.

El Dorado Templin
Seit Anfang Juli 2006 ist der Raum Berlin-Brandenburg um ein Ausflugsziel reicher: Im Eldorado Templin lässt sich der Wilde Westen live erleben. Eine originalgetreu nachgebaute Westernstadt inklusive Saloon und Bank, traditionelle Handwerker, Cowboys und Indianer, Western-Stuntshow und vieles mehr versprechen eine Menge Abenteuer für die ganze Familie. Darüber hinaus bietet der Park noch verschiedene Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten, bei denen für jeden Anspruch und jeden Geldbeutel etwas zu finden ist.
Wer als Kind schon immer Cowboy und Indianer spielen wollte, wird sich hier inmitten der brandenburgischen Uckermark wie im Eldorado fühlen. Der Themenpark bietet den Besuchern dabei spannende Attraktionen und actionreiche Shows ganz im Western-Stil. So gibt es etwa bei der Western-Stuntshow wilde Schießereien und Kämpfe zwischen Bleichgesichtern und Rothäuten. Unter der Leitung des Bösewichts Major Jackson ist die U.S. Cavalry auf der Suche nach einem sagenhaften Goldschatz, wobei sie tief ins Territorium der Indianer eindringt. Zwei Indianer und eine Farmerstochter versuchen, den skrupellosen Vormarsch aufzuhalten.
Stuntshop auf der Mainstreet
Packende Szenen können die Besucher aber auch einmal täglich auf der Main Street erleben, wenn in der Main Street Stuntshow ein neuer Sheriff gesucht wird. Immer um 12:30 Uhr versuchen die Jackson-Brüder, die Stadt in Angst und Schrecken zu versetzen – dabei haben sie allerdings die Rechnung ohne einen Fremden gemacht, der plötzlich auftaucht.
Ein weiteres Highlight ist die Indian Life & Survival Show in der Indianershowarena, wo die spannende Bisonjagd, das traditionelle Spurenlesen, einfühlsame Liebeslieder und auch spirituelle Indianertänze beobachtet werden können. Auch für Kinder ist das Programm in der Westernstadt äußerst kurzweilig. Neben Attraktionen wie Bogenschießen und Hufeisenwerfen können die Kleinen auch mit dem Kinderquad über den Strohballenparcours düsen.
Wie es sich für ein Leben zur Pionierzeit des 19. Jahrhunderts gehört, kann man auch in El Dorado dem Goldrausch verfallen und in der Goldwaschanlage nach dem wertvollen Edelmetall schürfen. Tierbegeisterte Besucher sind beim Pony- oder Trailreiten dagegen goldrichtig. Weitere Attraktionen, wie etwa die Fahrt mit der El Dorado Express Postkutsche, werden mit dem El Dorado-Dollar entrichtet, der natürlich stilecht in der Western-Bank gewechselt wird. Doch Vorsicht! Die Stadt ist auch ein Eldorado für Räuber und Banditen. Eine Auszeit vom turbulenten Wild-West-Treiben kann man sich dagegen bei einer Mahlzeit im Saloon oder in der Beaver Lodge nehmen. Alternativ bietet sich auch ein Streifzug durch die westerntypischen Läden an: Sei es im Spielzeugladen oder dem Clothing Emporium – hier findet jeder das passende Souvenir.
El Dorado Templin ist eine einzigartige und authentische Erlebniswelt für Jung und Alt vor den Toren Berlins. Action, Spaß und Abenteuer gehören in der Westernstadt genauso zur Tagesordnung wie schießende Cowboys und tanzende Indianer. Man könnte meinen, dies sei alles ganz wie im Film, doch es gibt einen großen Unterschied – hier sind die Kulissen keine Attrappen.
